yes you do. If you liberate, then you will collect income at end of turn, so if somebody whacks your Capital again before you can spend it, you lose the money again.

@mikemikemike said in More for Amphib Assaults, Pac 40:

But, can Japan scramble against US ships when it is ANZACs attack? That is, what if the US also put some surface warships in that sea zone in its non-combat turn- would Japan have to ‘fight’ them in the scramble or just the ANZAC ships?

Japan is scrambling against the ANZAC amphibious assault, not the US ships. The US units are not part of the attack, as it’s ANZAC’s turn, not the US’s.

This is really complicated and might be not addressed by any current rules or errata. thanks (and this is mostly acedemic)

This is addressed by the multi-national forces rules on page 21 of the Rulebook, and by the following FAQ entry:

      Q. Say the United Kingdom launches an amphibious assault from a US transport without any supporting UK sea or air units in the sea zone, and then Japan scrambles. What happens?
      A. In effect, nothing happens. The US transport doesn’t participate in the sea battle because it’s not the US’s turn. Since there are no attacking sea or air units, there is no sea battle. However, the sea zone can’t be cleared of defending combat units, so the amphibious assault can’t proceed.

Here’s the response I made to your posting in the Pacific forum.

@mikemikemike said in More for Amphib Assaults, Pac 40:

AA 1940, Pacific: 1. If an US amphib assault of destroyer and 2 loaded transports hit the Carolina Islands, and the defender scrambles 3 fighters and kills the destroyer, can the transports retreat to a friendly adjacent sea zone (I know can’t unload) or are they killed?

The surviving transports can retreat to a non-hostile sea zone through which one of them travelled, but only after all the hits from the defenders are assessed. If the scrambled fighters got more than one hit in the situation you described, each hit beyond the first is assigned to one of the transports. Any units on a transport that is hit are lost.

The transports can retreat but cannot unload. In this case, on the next Japanese turn the transport is probably dead unless there are Allied ships guarding the transport.

If a US transport picks up 2 ANZAC infantry, can they goto an enemy island during non-combat phase? There are no enemy ships there but could scramble enemy fighters. During the ANZAC turn, they send in ANZAC combat ships and planes to support the landing of their troops from the US transports. Ok?

When loading Allied troops on a US transport, the transport cannot move until the US turn and the troops cannot be unloaded until the Allied power’s turn comes back around. The sequence you described is:

ANZAC: Load troops onto a US transport during ANZAC non-combat movement.
      US: Move transport:
ANZAC: Unload troops during either combat or non-combat movement. (Note that in this case the transport cannot retreat as it did not move.)

      Hope this helps!

The carriers can do that and the Kamikazes cannot be used since it is a non-combat move. The Kamikazes can only be used when defending against an attacking fleet of Allied warships (though they cannot hit planes, subs, or transports).

try “the war game” many rules in this axa inspired global warfare game adapt to these concerns, for example, one ship cannot block a fleet, a fleet attack can propose up to 3 battles in path each of which are resolved in turn if sucessful.  there are many more such as nation specific pricing and units, a more varied economic structure, and so forth.  not by any means a shorter or simpler version of axa global however

Back when all we had was Classic, I tried out a game where Germany and Russia were pals and they fought against USA, UK and Japan.  The Germany/Russia combo was pretty devastating.  They rather quickly over ran the rest of the Asian continent and most of Africa, although Russia had some problems with Japan because Japan kept using their transports to drop off troops all along the coast and Russia didn’t yet have enought to put garrisons in each coastal territory.
As powerful as Germany got by taking most of the Middle-East and Africa, they had a hard time trying to get at England because the Brits kept buying aircraft and sinking all the German ships.  So while Germany had lots of troops and tanks, they couldn’t keep ships to take them to England.  Also, Germany had put so many men along the coasts that America had to build a really huge invasion fleet to get over there.  They also had to be careful about staging their ships because Germany had a lot of Luftwaffe too.
It took a while, but Germany and Russia eventually won.  Russia finally got some planes over to sink the Japanese ships and Germany eventually whittled down the RAF enough that they started to keep and build a decent navy.  They also used lots of subs for fodder (remember back then planes could hit subs anytime).  The big American invasion took too long building and ended up being used to liberate England instead of attacking somewhere in Europe.  Germany had enough guys and transports to re-take England and after a couple of large naval battles, managed to reach North America and had enough transports to keep shuttling men and tanks from Europe to England to Canada, with even a few Russian troops sent over by their puny navy to take defense hits by US counterattacks.  Eventually, they even overwhelmed Eastern US.  Japan couldn’t help because every time they put ships in the water, Russian planes would sink them.

      CHILDRENC

Japan would have to declare war at the beginning (before any units are moved) of its combat movement phase. So it would not be allowed to go through sz8, it would have to stop and battle that DD.

      Mike,

First of all, many thanks to you and your friends for defending our country! But if Germany can invade the US, something is wrong!  :-D

Try this US move as a 1st move, it will allow max flexibility for the US to get to SZ91/Gib on Turn 2 or back to Hawaii on Turn 2, depending on if Germany goes for SeaLion or not. Even if they don’t go for SeaLion you can bring max pressure on Germany/Italy if you want. This is of course using the Alpha +2 rules.

      USA Turn 1

      Builds:

      4 Trans, 1 Inf, 1 Arm, 1 NB

      Non Coms:

1 Inf, 1 Art from Eus to Trans in SZ101, move to SZ64, drop off in Smx
      1 CC in SZ101 to SZ64
1 Mech, 1 Arm from Cus to Smx
2 Inf, 1 Art from Wus to Cus
2 Inf from Haw to Trans in SZ26, move to SZ64, drop off in Smx
      1CC, 1DD, 1SS from SZ26 to SZ64
      1BB, 1CC, 1DD, 1AC, 1 Trans from SZ10 to SZ64
      1 FTR, 1Tac from SZ10 to Eus
1 FTR from Wus to Eus
2 FTR from Haw to SZ64
1 FTR from Phi to Gua
      1 DD, 1SS from SZ35 to SZ54
1 SBR from Cus to Wus

      Build:
