@farmboy Very interesting. Based on PTV math (BB = 18, CA = 11) BBs are already the most efficient type of ship on average, purely for naval battles on an equal IPC basis. This doesn’t factor in things that are directly part of the battle calc math (range of planes, bombard & marine carrying capability etc.). CAs, despite the price reduction, are still by far the worst.
@pacifiersboard Scramble to Yugo, no on the other two.
@Argothair Hey, saw the post, are you waiting on a scramble decision? Sorry if you already know this, but in PTV the engine will prompt for land and carrier scrambles even in cases when there is not an eligible scramble. The land scramble requires a defending unit, so the prompt here for Scotland can be disregarded.
@crockett36 Just wanted to note that the bid goes to the Axis in PTV.
@Argothair No scramble, you’re generally safe to skip in overwhelming odds situations like that.
@crockett36 I wouldn’t say there’s a total consensus on that but a few popular ones are:
Depends on the exact bid, 11-12 are fairly common as well.
@Argothair I don’t think you’re doing too bad honestly. You’ve still got 3 island-based NOs you could get, start robbing the Russians of the Siberian territories, and eventually maybe take down a capitol. PTV is definitely more about the longer-run economic war than most variants. It’s very hard to just to take capitols without completely abandoning the rest of the map.
@surfer Assumed no scramble on the 97 attack.
@Argothair Yeah it was bad lol. Won’t be back in front of my computer for a bit but I battle calced Moscow to around 50% unless I messed up my NCM somehow. Will check it later tonight.
@FlyingBadger I’ll give you a game if you want. Hopefully my losing record will be enough to lure you in.
@surfer Sorry for the delay, had a nice weekend of playing over the board then had to catch up on work. Should be able to post turn tomorrow.
@gamerman01 Hopefully can match last year’s stats. 27+ rounder in progress at the moment too.
@surfer Assumed no scramble to Normandy.
SZ95 - UK fig+tac on 1 US CV, 1 UK fig on UK CV
SZ 35 - 2 AZ fig on 1 US CV
@surfer It’s is max 1 per carrier and 3 per sea zone. You can double up from multiple SZs as you noted. The game engine will allow you to choose more but in practice the number above 3 won’t actually scramble.
@Argothair Use second save please, made a couple NCM edits.
@Argothair Brutal dice in Greece. Leonidas held strong.
@crockett36 Inside info, or personal prediction?
@Argothair Hard to turn down a 90+ IPC battle even if the immediate benefits are not obvious, but if you decide not to sink it, I admire your self-control. I would show no such restraint.
@simon33 We’re setting up his first league PTV game as we speak. Sounds like I’m in for a challenge
