@Stucifer A very sad goodbye to Stucifer who has been my most frequent opponent since joining the league and I hope he returns one day.
Now to petition @gamerman01 to have the PTV 2nd bracket serve as a play-in game for the main bracket to replace Stu ;)

@crockett36 I rolled tech dice and got “advanced autopilot” so now the truck drivers of the world can unite and play while they work ;)

RE: Mikawagunichi analysis of PTV resultsposted in League
There are certainly more ways to splice the data, but here are some initial findings and some commentary regarding historical PTV win rates, bids, player ELO etc.
- Player quality matters far more than bid (no surprise).
- The game was pretty clearly imbalanced in favor of the Axis in the early years (2020-2021), with Axis winning percentages in the 63-71% range. I personally wasn’t here at the very beginning (discovered the game in 2021) but I recall there being some significant changes (limiting the carrier scramble, partitioning the SZ off Malaya) that probably hurt the Axis and made the game more balanced.
- In 2022-2023 bids trended up and the overall Axis winning percent dropped to the 54-56% range.
- If you exclude lower tier players, the results become even more balanced.
- The Axis winning percentage has plummeted so far in 2024, even though the average bid is at an all time high.
- Bid amount is almost certainly a lagging indicator (in response to game results). So it may be reasonable to expect the average bid to increase if the current trend stays as is.
- If we can keep up the current pace, we may set the record for number of PTV league games this year, surpassing the high water mark set in 2021.

RE: League General Discussion Threadposted in League
My 2 cents - the OOB rules require reinterpretation for PTV anyway as there are multiple sea zones which border both originally controlled US and Japanese territories, which puts some of the OOB rules in conflict. I would say if they are allowed to be in a SZ at the beginning on their turn, they are allowed to be there at the end.

RE: L24 PTV - Nikola1975 (axis +8) v Mikawagunichiposted in League
@nikola1975 My transition from a bad player to an average player required me to stop doing certain things that I like because they are fun and start doing certain things I dislike because they are good. I was pretty surprised when I saw that move open up. Of course knowing you hate it only makes me want to do it even more ;)

RE: L24 PTV - Nikola1975 (axis +8) v Mikawagunichiposted in League
@nikola1975 Yes I know what you are saying and I agree with you on that one. PTV at least made somewhat of an improvement on OOB rules there with not being able to land planes used in combat on newly built carriers unless they already had a legal landing spot.
I once had a game where I had UK planes on US carriers, AZ planes on UK carriers, and French planes on an AZ carrier. Now THAT is some bonus movement.

L24 PTV Stucifer (X+12) over MikawaGunichi
Most importantly, welcome back to the league. I was hoping Stu would be rusty, but no such luck.

@nikola1975 That is very likely correct, but I’ll do my final suicide charges and try to get lucky.
