@thethedew I don’t own the game, but I think the main point of it is that it is not WW2 based. This way the game has appeal to people who aren’t that interested in WW2.

Let us know what you think after you’ve played a couple of games.

@crsluggo I think you are right about those carriers being Russian. If I were in their shoes, I’d reuse sculpts as well. They already have them, no need to re-invent the wheel.

As of today (2021 0207), HBG is selling full copies of their Amerika game for $49.95. That is more than 1/2 off the retail price of $119.95. The pieces are in the second edition colors, the rest of the game is the same.

(First Edition Colors: Germans in Grey, Japan in Burnt Orange, Allies in OD Green. Second Edition Colors: Germans in Black, Japan in Yellow Gold, Allies in UK Tan.)

@Midnight_Reaper Thank you for posting this. I have forked this posting to a separate topic.

Let me just add that it would be great if everybody noticing spam would refrain from commenting on spam postings.
Flagging the spam is totally sufficient to bring admin/moderators into action to remove and purge the dirt.

Further commenting on spam means that we unneccessarily would have to deal with those comments too, that remain somehow isolated when the spam/the spam accounts have been removed.

Thank you all for your help to keep this forum clean.

I was wondering if anyone had a copy of the rules (and if separate from the rule book, the setup as well) for East & West, War in 1948? I recently purchased a copy that is complete, except for the rules and the starting setup. I can send pictures if someone wishes to confirm my purchase.

It sucks being this close and yet so far away from trying this game out.

I also posted this request in the “Home / Axis & Allies / Discussion & Older Games” section.

Historical Board Gaming (HBG) is now taking preorders on their Amerika pieces for the German player, now in Black (they were originally in grey).

One thing to point out, these Pre-Orders on Black Amerika German Sets include not only the German Set pieces from base game pieces but also the German Set pieces from the Amerika Expansion Set “Bring in the Heavies”. Well worth it if you already have Amerika and the “Bring in the Heavies” expansion and you just want the new pieces, worth it if you already have Amerika and you just want the new pieces, and also worth-while if you just want to equip your late-war Germans in a game of Axis & Allies or Global War '36 or '39 with some awesome new tanks, mechs, self-propelled guns, jet fighters, and jet bombers.

For the visually-inclined, a picture of some of the pieces is available here:
picture of black Germans pieces from the re-release of HBG's Amerika game
      Source

For those that want to know what all you get, here is a listing of what you are pre-ordering for when you put down your $45 ($40 for the pre-order, $5 shipping in the US):

Unit / (grey German Pieces) / (black German Pre-Order Pieces)
      Base Game
      E-100 Heavy Tank / (6) / (4)
      Flakpanzer Ceolian SP AA Gun / (6) / (6)
      GW Panther SP Artillery / (8) / (6)
      Ho-XVIIIB Jet Bomber / (6) / (4)
      Katzchen Mechanized Inf. / (6) / (4)

      Panther II Medium Tank / (8) / (6)
      Panzergrenadier (Elite Infantry) / (12) / (12)

      Bring in the Heavies Expansion
      E-50 Jagdpanzer Tank Destroyer / (5) / (4)
      E-555 Jet Bomber / (5) / (4)
      Ho-229 Jet Tac Bomber / (5) / (4)

HBG recently announced a re-print of their game Amerika. The difference between the first print and the newly-announced second print will be the color of the pieces. To quote HBG: “… new Amerika Game with [T]an Allies, Black Germans, and Yellow-Gold Japanese” (Source)

What I elided out of that quote is that if you have a copy of Amerika and just want the new pieces, HBG will accommodate you, but only for a short while. The full quote goes: “Pre-Orders on Tan Amerika Allies Sets will be available for 4 weeks only (Ends July 16), after that they will only be in the new Amerika Game with [T]an Allies, Black Germans, and Yellow-Gold Japanese.”

So, making the Allies Set in in Tan allows one to get HBG Centurion tanks and Meteor Jet fighters in British Tan. But only for the next 2 to 3 weeks. (Recently, HBG announced that their French Set would be available for pre-orders in a “light blue” or “Free French” color until the 5th of June. Only pre-orders were cancelled before then, and if you were too slow, you missed out.) So, if this sounds like something you would like to have, you will want to move sooner rather than later.

One thing to point out, these Pre-Orders on Tan Amerika Allies Sets include not only the Allies Set pieces from base game pieces but also the Allies Set pieces from the Amerika Expansion Set “Bring in the Heavies”. Well worth it if you already have Amerika and the “Bring in the Heavies” expansion and you just want the new pieces, worth it if you already have Amerika and you just want the new pieces, and also worth-while if you just want to equip your late-war British in a game of Axis & Allies or Global War '36 or '39 with some awesome new tanks, mechs, self-propelled guns, jet fighters, and jet bombers.

For the visually-inclined, a picture of some of the pieces is available here:

For those that want to know what all you get, here is a listing of what you are pre-ordering for when you put down your $38 ($32 for the pre-order, $6 shipping in the US):

Unit / (US Green Pieces) / (British Tan Pre-Order Pieces)
      Base Game
      B-48 Jet Bomber / (6) / (4)
      Centurion Medium Tank / (10) / (4)

      M43 SP Artillery / (10) / (6)
      M75 Mechanized Inf. / (8) / (4)
      Meteor Jet Fighter / (10) / (4)
      Rangers (Elite Infantry) / (20) / (12)
      T-29 Heavy Tank / (8) / (4)

      T-28 Heavy/Super Heavy Tank / (5) / (4)

And if you’re ready to pre-order some awesome Brit pieces, HBG is standing by: http://www.historicalboardgaming.com/Battle-Pieces--Amerika-Set-Tan-Pre-Order_p_3425.html

@djensen said in Adding post location to individual posts?:

I know what the issue is. We have too many icons in the nav bar and the logo is too wide. When the window shrinks, it all goes to a new line and messes everything up. :frowning: :grimacing:

But only if you stay in windowed mode. If you stretch it back out and then re-shrink it, the line with the post location drops down (see my last screenshot for how that looks). If you knew how to make the line drop down, without needing to stretch and shrink the screen, you would be golden. Assuming the software let’s you do that…

      Hello out there,

I am looking to add to my collection of Table Tactics pieces. I have collected a set or two of the normal Table Tactics A&A expansions (A&A Accessories, Central Power, New World Order, and the A&A and Risk expansion Risk 2042). What I am looking for now is harder to find.

I am looking to buy a few more sets of Table Tactics Central Powers. If your set looks like the picture below, that’s what I’m looking for:
a picture of game pieces from the Axis & Allies expansion Central Powers
      source

I am also looking to buy sets of Table Tactics expansion expansions. Let me explain. Table Tactics made three sets of other sets of pieces in different colors for those playing with different games, such as Xeno Games The World at War and the Revised edition of Axis & Allies.

One set was called “More for Your World at War” and contained pieces from A&A Accessories and pieces from Central Powers in three colors corresponding to piece colors from The World at War. One set was called “More Units in More Colors” and contained pieces from New World Order and pieces from Risk 2042 in three colors corresponding to piece colors from The World at War. One set was called “New Edition Colors” and contained pieces from all four of the Table Tactics expansions, corresponding to piece colors from A&A, Revised.

The picture below should help explain things. If you have Table Tactics pieces in colors from the top row of that picture, that you would like to sell, please send me a PM. If you have Table Tactics pieces in colors from the bottom row of that picture, if they are pieces from Central Powers, that you would like to sell, please send me a PM.
a picture of game piece tanks in eleven different colors

And that’s what I’d like to buy, in the new year.

@Midnight_Reaper There was a group of pieces made by pewtercraft each had their rules with them for use with axis and allies from that time period of MB. not sure if the rules can be found anymore and pewtercraft has been done for a while. The ones I currently have.

      Fortresses
      Heavy artillery
      Anti tank guns
Mechanized infintry (this is in game now)
      Pt Boats
Troop Trains (versions of this are now in game)
      AAA/At guns
      Scorched earth ruins
      Pocket battleships

Some of the ideas are good if they are tweaked a bit.

      @smo63:

No if Zombies take a territory where there is nothing but Zombies it retains its IPC value and when the zombies have 25 IPC’s of territories, it is considered a Zombie Apocolypse and they win.

Zombies can’t win.  ZA goes to VPs between players.

      @innohub:

Thanks for article sharing!–- It seems the benefit of zombies is:

      1.  Break down the original repeated game flow pattern
      2.  Activate lands in map that user seldom would go in traditional AA game
      3.  Introduce  possibilities of riot/rebellion near each country’s own homeland due to the card events like asian time
      4.  A faster paced game (cheaper armor, a new victory condition by zombie victory…)

Also thematic Hallowe’en games and a gateway game for the mainstream.

I managed to snag a copy of both Pacific and Europe 1st ed. I basically wanted extra pieces.

Different pieces for Italians and Australians….as just different for 36’ GW.

I am not sure I’m willing to let some go yet. Especially as I have way to MANY FMG minis all ready.

A re-post of some thoughts I had on adding Arty to 1941:

While I’m no expert, if I were going to add artillery units from 40 or 42 to my copy of 41, this is how I would do it.

First, use the pieces and rules from 42. Here are the stats for artillery:
      @Axis:

      Artillery
      Cost 4
      Attack 2*
      Defense 2
      Move 1

Supports Infantry: When an infantry attacks along with an artillery, the infantry’s attack increases to 2. Each infantry must be matched one-for-one with a supporting artillery unit. Artillery does not support infantry on defense.

Also, note in the rules section for infantry:
      @Axis:

      Infantry
      Cost 3
Attack 1 (2 when supported by artillery)*
      Defense 2
      Move 1

Supported by Artillery: When an infantry attacks along with an artillery, the infantry’s attack increases to 2. Each infantry must be matched one-for-one with a supporting artillery unit. If your infantry outnumber your artillery, the excess infantry units still have an attack of 1. For example, if you attack with two artillery and five infantry, two of your infantry have an attack of 2 and the rest have an attack of 1. Infantry are not supported by artillery on defense.

Finally, I would change the initial setup for 1941 to reflect the presence of artillery in armies already on the board. I would think that changing every 3rd infantry in a territory to artillery would be a decent start. If I did that, I would change the setup in some territories and leave the rest alone. The changed territories would reflect the following setup:

      Russia: 4 infantry, 2 artillery, 1 tank, 1 fighter*
      Archangel: 2 infantry, 1 artillery
      Karelia: 2 infantry, 1 artillery
      Caucasus: 2 infantry, 1 artillery, 1 tank
      Siberia: 2 infantry, 1 artillery

      Germany: 2 infantry, 1 artillery, 1 fighter, 1 bomber
Eastern Europe: 3 infantry, 1 artillery, 2 tanks
      Ukraine: 2 infantry, 1 artillery, 2 tanks
West Russia: 2 infantry, 1 artillery

      Japan: 3 infantry, 1 artillery, 1 tank, 1 fighter, 1 bomber

*Note that according to the FAQ put out after the game released, the territory labeled Russia should start with six infantry. If you haven’t read this FAQ, you should, as it made other changes to the setup of the board. If you swap every third infantry for an artillery, you would get four infantry and two artillery, as shown above.

Also, this would mean that neither the UK nor the US would start with any artillery as their regular setup have no territories with three or more infantry. Either shrug your shoulders or change their setup as you feel appropriate, perhaps as follows:

      India: 1 infantry, 1 artillery, 1 fighter
      Eastern U.S.: 1 infantry, 1 artillery, 1 tank, 1 fighter, 1 bomber

The above changes should integrate artillery into a game of 1941 fairly well. The Axis would swap 5 infantry for 5 artillery and the Allies would swap 6 or 8 (with optional UK and US artillery swapping) infantry for 6 or 8 (with optional UK and US artillery swapping) artillery for the setup of the game.

      My 2:gg:

      @Baron:

Maybe you can call this sculpt escorting vessels for TPs and Carriers.
Cost 10 but attack 2 and defense 3. Anti-Sub with AA defense.

Working as both Cruiser and DDs.

You need them to cover Capital ships with a ring of these cheaper warships.

That’s a thought, and a good one. Escorts A2 D3 M2 C10, Anti sub, anti air. It would also enliven the usual warship stats in A&A - A2 D2, A3 D3, A4 D4… Capital ships and transports need somebody to help protect them at sea - just ask the survivors of Taffy 3.

      Something to ponder.
