I played it using the website, it wasnt very good. Wonder what happened with the creator and did they actually print the board game?

The creator did, indeed, print his game. He’s selling off the very last of his stock at this time. See the BGG information for the game for more information:

    • RE: Who would win between a production model Panzer eight Maus and a production model O-I super heavy tank?

Which of a Panzer VIII Maus and a IJA O-I super heavy would win in a duel?

      Assuming Wikipedia has accurate information…
      Better armor - Maus
      Better main gun - Maus
      Better secondary armament - Maus
      Faster speed - O-I
      Lighter - O-I
      Shorter - Maus
      Stronger engine - tie

To me, this would be a turning engagement. If the O-I can get behind the Maus before the Maus opens fire on the O-I, I could see the Japanese tank winning. Bring a straight-up gun duel and I think the Maus heavier weapons would wear down the O-I first. One lucky shot in the right place and whichever tank received it would lose.

      All just my opinion.

    • RE: Genoa CFC ....American

Sorry to hear the bad news about your team.

As for 777 Partners, I’ve never heard of them before. They seem to be some sort of financial company. Generically bland, this purchase is probably somebody’s vanity project. I wouldn’t expect much out of Genoa CFC while these people are running things.

The website for 777 Partners: https://www.777part.com/

I peeked through their people listings. I didn’t recognized any of the names or faces. So, neither good nor bad, at least individually.

    • RE: What if Germany magically had Plan Z?

Have you considered asking your real question? Could a fully built Plan Z navy take on both the Royal Navy and the US Navy? Probably not, but interesting to consider all the same.

When you start talking about deals with the devil, ships built out of thin air, and crews that can’t be killed, I have a lot of trouble taking your questions seriously.

I can’t speak for you, but I know that come here for serious discussion about Axis and Allies gaming. Yes, alternative history and the occasional hi-jink ensues. But I am starting to consider your posts to be noise. I don’t see the substance. You ask questions and when you get told that this particular set of alternative rules is rather set in stone, you blow off the person who answers you. That person has put time and effort into refining their presentation. You would do well to consider whether you need to ask the question before you ask it.

      @midnight_reaper

The thing is, these Plan Z fleet crews can magically be resurrected (they magically came to life, anyway).

Good sir, you have left science fiction and alternative history (which is where the majority of the discussions here go) and charged straight into high fantasy.

Persistent chemical weapons are nasty, nasty things. Your magically delicious Plan Z fleet will be overloaded with constantly respawning dead.

Mind you, since you have wandered well away from anything that possibly “might have happened”, instead of persistent chemical weapons I’ll go with the following.

To counter the magical Plan Z German Navy, the Brits bring back Merlin and King Arthur. The Knights of the Round Table shall meet what’s left of the Op Sealion invasion force after Merlin uses hurricanes, tornadoes, magick storms, meteors, fireballs, and dragons to sink your invasion fleet.

Your Plan Z fleet might be invulnerable, but the transport fleet for your invasion is not so lucky.

As I said before, if you want Op Sealion to work so badly you are willing to use fan fic to get it, then just wish it into success. Anything less is just extra steps.

On this note, is “blonde” or “tan” a better color match for OOB UK G40 pieces?

I think tan is a better match. Blonde is too light a color to be a good match.

    • RE: What if Germany magically had Plan Z?

At this far off the rails, you might as well just wish Op Sealion into success. The UK was willing to use chemical weapons to defend the UK. If the crews of your Plan Z fleet are dead, it doesn’t matter how invincible their ships might be.

    • RE: What if japan invaded the Soviet Union (alternative history scenario)?

I seriously doubt that the Red Army would have trouble trouncing the IJA in a second round. The major issues would 1) whether the Red Army could spare the manpower and supplies to carry out a proper fight against the IJA and 2) the possibility that the Red Air Force would lose access to their aircraft pipeline from the US: the ALSIB.

But I am sure that if the IJA made actual progress into the Soviet Union, it would be because the Red Army let them, so they could deal with more pressing issues.

    • RE: DK's Progressive Arms Research system…

@coedewa I bought DK’s chart and system and had the same issue with the lack of rules. The answer is that you get a link to the rules for you to download after you pay for your order.

The mechanism they use for that is quite opaque. My solution to this problem was to complain to HBG using their order feedback system, the one on their site. They emailed me a copy of the rules that day.

    • RE: Question with US IPC setup

@superbattleshipyamato123 You are correct, the US should have 17 IPCs. This was covered in the FAQ - which used to be on the Avalon Hill website. Used to be, because Marketing got a wild hair and played 52 pickup with their website. There ought to be a law about leaving information links alone. But there’s not.

A direct link to the current version of the 1941 rule book, with (hopefully) all of the errata folded in, is available at:
      https://www.hasbro.com/common/documents/60D52426B94D40B98A9E78EE4DD8BF94/E5D3C8B367B94C70BC0D66E557853387.pdf

The errata does not only change the US IPC level, it adds some needed units to the board - in places like the US Atlantic coast, Moscow, and China. See for yourself.

      -Midnight_Reaper

P.S. Found a working deep-link to the FAQ on Avalon’s site, read that first: https://media.wizards.com/2015/downloads/ah/AA_1941_FAQ.pdf

@superbattleshipyamato123 said in What if the Soviet Union joined the Axis and Japan joined the Allies?:

      @midnight_reaper

When I first came up with these ideas, I always thought of them being used together (using only the Soviet Union one is suicide for the Allies, as I have discovered), which is why I didn’t really keep them separate. Sorry about that.

I think the ideas are fine together. They probably aren’t balanced if used separately. My comment is more about the appearance of your proposal - your text runs together, making it difficult to see where the sections begin and end. Please use extra lines and / or bolding, as needed, so that I can better read what you wrote.

      Or not, it’s your baby.

Just some thoughts on your formatting, before I think over your rules:

Please more clearly separate your ideas for the Soviets from your ideas for Japan - it’s hard to tell where one ends and the other begins.

Also, you might want to put mention of your Imperial Civil War concept in your title.

@franklin_cain They have just about any marker you might need, and some you didn’t know you needed, like the Submerged Submarine, Convoy Disrupted, and Kamikaze markers.

A product similar to those Litko markers, but specifying major or minor, can be found. Historical Board Gaming sells a variety of pieces and parts for upgrading your games of A&A. In particular, the factory makers seem to be exactly what you are looking for. Follow the link below to see what I mean.

I just started playing Axis and allies 1940 with 6 peoples . Where do I start implementing the more complicated rules of the game and house rules after we got the basics down like phases/ fighting units

I would avoid making any house rules until your group is familiar with the base game and how it plays.

I agree. First, learn how to play. The better players will likely win, no matter their side. Game unbalance does not become a factor until all players are at the same level of play.

Plus, it’s important to know the basics before moving on to more complicated rules.

    • RE: Looking for the Xeno Games World at War Map

@old_no7 Using the colors of the map you linked, I don’t know why HBG wouldn’t work for you. No, they don’t pay me anything. But, to me, it’s the obvious solution. So I wonder why it would not work for you…

Here’s what I would buy, with links to the correct pages:

      First, the All-Allied look:
      French Dark Blue
      China Light Green
      British Tan
      (potentially US Green)
      (potentially USSR Brown)
      https://www.historicalboardgaming.com/Battle-Pieces--Allies--Mack-Truck-x5_p_1164.html
French in Blue (can also use Dark Green here for US)
China in either Light Green or Celery Green (Light Green will probably work better)
      Brits in Tan
(can also use Dark Green here for US)
(can also also use Brown here for USSR)

This would also help with piece recognition - all the trucks on the Allied side would look alike. Some more national solutions for the Brits, the US, and the USSR follow:

      Brits can also do
      https://www.historicalboardgaming.com/Battle-Pieces--UK-Supp--Kangaroo-Mech-Infantry-x5_p_1888.html
in Tan or ANZAC Grey (Tan is probably best here)

      US Dark Green -
      https://www.historicalboardgaming.com/Battle-Pieces--US-Exp--M3A2-Halftrack-x5_p_2080.html
      in Dark Green

      USSR Brown
      https://www.historicalboardgaming.com/Battle-Pieces--Russia-Early-War--Gaz-60-Mechanized-Infantry-x5_p_1143.html
      in Brown (Russia)

Now, the Axis. Doing the Allies in trucks and the Axis in Half-tracks will help tell them apart:

      German Grey - either
      https://www.historicalboardgaming.com/Battle-Pieces--Axis-Minors--Opel-Maultier-Truck-x5_p_781.html
      in Light Grey
      or
      https://www.historicalboardgaming.com/Battle-Pieces--German-Exp--Halftrack-Mechanized-2501-x5_p_2170.html
      in Dark Grey

      Japan Yellow
      https://www.historicalboardgaming.com/Battle-Pieces--Japanese-Supp--Type-1-Ho-Ha-Mech-x5_p_1620.html
      in Yellow Gold

And last, our neutral nations (assuming you want to get them half-tracks / trucks as well)
      Neutral Light Tan
      https://www.historicalboardgaming.com/Battle-Pieces--Neutrals--Polish-Truck-x5_p_790.html
      in Blonde

Again, if you want an exact color match, you will need to paint. But I think these are close to what you are asking for.

If the above does not help, please be more specific.
