      @MEGAEINSTEIN:

      Krieghund please ask Larry about this.

      In your opinion why can you trace a line from your territories to the capital EXCEPT colonies?

      You are either a troll or just plain dumb lol

      The point of the sentence I quoted is simply to differentiate “regional territories” from “colonies”.  Regional territories can trace a line through contiguous original territories back to the capital, while colonies are removed from the capital.  The only difference this really makes is that colonies of minor powers are handled a little differently than their capitals.  Since minor powers don’t have regional territories anyway, this sentence is more about “flavor” than anything else.

      Well, it’s not hard - then again buying enough navy to get enough troops over (without BB bombardment etc.) can take a LONG time…

      @Sir_Cala:

      Can the US park ships in Sea Zones 7 and 16 next to Sea Zone 6 that contains the Island of Japan?

      Yes; those territories are not adjacent to a Japanese controlled territory. However, that leaves the US navy very vulnerable to a Japanese attack, especially fighters on carriers because they have nowhere to land if the carrier gets damaged.

      @otahere34:

      Yes, but only in the Pacific version. If you are playing global, then they start minor and upgrade when the U.S. goes to war, unless the U.S. pays to upgrade them before.

      Is this true?

      yeah, as it was in Alpha3 and as it remains in 2nd Ed.

      I agree that Japan should be split, and have two sz"s.

      Then we could have Sea Lion on the Euro side, and Sea Serpent on the Pac side.

      Young grasshopper. Well Said. Just because people play differently doesn’t mean they are a bunch of idiots. One thing I can’t stand about these forums are when people have a superioty complex like they are the only ones who know how to play this game. As much money as these games cost they should give you money,more chips and more control markers for UK in India and Italy.

      New sculps from aa 1940 second edition are ugly, bad builded, look like a really bad job.

      But the 16 new scupls from aa 1941 are beautiful with lots of detail.

      Can anyone explain to me this huge difference between the quality of the units?

      @WARRIOR888:

      Did any other scuplts change in the Pacific 1940 Second Edition besides the ones mentioned already?Â

      I finished inspecting the new Global sculpts last weekend and here are the main differences I was able to spot between old and new versions of sculpts which are supposed to represent the same model of equipment.  I took a few pictures (see below) to go with these notes.  (I haven’t noted cases in which some of the details on the sculpts are simply defined a little better in one version than in another, without being different in actual shape.)  Most of the differences involve sculpts which were introduced in 1942 (2nd ed) game, and which were then replaced by revised sculpts in the Global 1940 (2nd ed) game.

      Artillery: 105mm LeFH 18 howitzer (German)

      Introduced in 1942 (2nd ed), in which the breech and the undercarriage are connected.  In the 1940 (2nd ed) version, there is a gap between them.

      Antiaircraft Gun: 3.7in QFAA (British)

      Introduced in 1942 (2nd ed). In the 1940 (2nd ed) version, there is an additional structure underneath the thick lower part of the barrel assembly, at the point where it connects to the mounting.

      Antiaircraft Gun: M1939 85mm (Russian)

      Introduced in 1942 (2nd ed), in which the gun ends with a flared muzzle brake.  In the 1940 (2nd ed) version, the barrel is more slender and ends with grooves running around the barrel tip.

      Antiaircraft Gun: 88mm FLAK 41 (German)

      Introduced in 1942 (2nd ed), in which a spur extends backward from the base of the breech, the horizontal element projecting forward from the front of the mounting is cylindrical, and two of the mounting’s legs are thicker than the other two.  In the 1940 (2nd ed) version, the breech is shorter, the horizontal element projecting forward from the front of the mounting is oval, and the mounting’s four legs are the same thickness.

      Antiaircraft Gun: 75mm Type 88 (Japanese)

      Introduced in 1942 (2nd ed), in which the mounting’s four legs are thicker than in the 1940 (2nd ed) version.

      Cruiser: Kent class (British)

      Introduced in Anniversary.  In the 1940 (2nd ed) version, the third funnel is short instead of being the same height at the other two.

      Thanks for the heads up, Lydian. That is a most interesting development… If enough people agree with the changes perhaps Larry & Krieg could propose an offical amendment to the set up.

      @Hobbes:

      @MEGAEINSTEIN:

      If germany concentrates power in Berlin and leaves just one infantry in coastal territories this is the best defence.
      Because shore bombardment is useless and next turn germany recovers agin easily that coastal territory.

      Sometimes it maybe more worthwhile to fortify both France and Germany. That way you are denying 6 IPC to the Allies, and those can make a big difference to the UK, and you’re not spending units retaking it.

      Also, France has a VC. You may need to hold it for a round to achieve victory. Or, as in the case of the game I won as the Allies, you may need to hold it to stop Allied victory. I captured France with the UK, liberated Karelia with the US, and captured Kwangtung and Philippines with the US. Kwangtung was an oversight and the Japanese player didn’t think I’d attack Philippines. It wasn’t desperate on my part, but I didn’t think I’d get a better chance while USSR was still in the game because Germany was going the southern route.
