      I’ve been considering switching the alliances around (and perhaps tweaking setups a bit to keep 1st round battles interesting). NO’s and political rules would have to be modified as well. Has anyone ever tried something like this just for fun?

      Considerations…
      1. Switch France with Italy
      2. Switch Germany with UK Europe and USSR
      3. Switch ANZAC with Italy

      Consumerism is what’s NONSENSE.

      The Queen mothers dollhouse has some of the first light bulbs EVER made in it.

      They still work TODAY.  After 100 years you’d think they’d need to be replaced?

      GM refuses to make plastic bodied cars anymore, and are returned to steel designs.  What the hell you say?  Plastic is Cheaper, lasts longer, and is lighter?  What’s going on?

      Let me tell you,  I’ll spend some time trying to dig up the report, but more or less, steel rusts, thereby encouraging people to buy NEW cars, since the old ones look like crap/rust away/break down.

      It’s like the guy who invented the plastic carburator.  A $2 mass producable part, that could easily be modulated to work on many different engines.  His design was bought by Ford for MILLIONS of dollars so they could - guess what? -  shelve it, and prevent anyone else from ever building it for as long as possible.

      When I worked in the Tech Industry,  A-Bit used to buy capacitors for their motherboards, that their research timed, would only last as long as the warranty cycle.  The A-Bit BE62 (As I recall?) Slot 1 motherboards, were an abymssal design, and alot of people were buying a replacement at the 13th month mark.  A-bit celebrated this failure, as a grand achievement, because “more consumers” were now on the market again.

      Putting your head in the sand is what’s NONSENSE.

      If it is premature, each and every company has owned up to it.

      What about the dozens of companies that literally have insurance agencies (Like the one in Fight Club) who’s job it is to determine if it’s cheaper to just pay people out after they get hurt/killed, vs repair and recall the product?  That’s a legitimate job Jermofoot

      Don’t be naive friends…

      I just had to print a few things:

      The new setup (I just copied and pasted it into notepad from the HGD thread).

      The new rule changes (same as above - notepad).

      The new National Objective charts (I made mine in excel, uploaded them here).

      That’s it. The battleboard hasn’t changed, and I use the IPC tracker that came with the Europe game. Things aren’t finalized yet but from what I understand the end is getting closer.

      @McMan:

      We’re about to start a game of Europe. Should we use Alpha with the blue changes?

      My suggestion is to go ahead and use the Alpha with blue changes.  Our battle group just played a game of E40 this past Saturday and we used that setup and rules.  We did, however, change US NO #1 to read:

      1. Collect 10 IPCs per turn for complete control of the continental US (CUS, EUS).

      and with mech-infantry it is quite comfortable even from germany. therefrom you can help out even in southern italy, if there is no allied obstacle in the way. ;)
      this way you can cover mostly the whole of continental europe (except russian territories).

      lots of sub help stalling an american progress, this for sure. but it is hard to find best positions on the map where you can “hide” yourself from destroyers etc. and counterattack later on.

      but it helps.

      maybe next time i will spend the french money on mostly subs and bombers. maybe like this: G1 3 subs, 1 bomber, G2 (63 IPCs) 6 subs, 2 bombers. so one can have up to 10 subs and 4 bombers as germany. after that planes and infantry…etc.

      any ideas about it?

      I realize that Eire is useless. The irony is the fact that the easiest, and perhaps the most realistic (as in won’t attack a true neutral) way for France to capture a territory is for it to capture something that doesn’t matter, underscoring the dismal state of France in general.

      Upon futher reflection on the map, I could see a major IC purchase for Romania being worth its weight in gold.  Buying mainly mechs from it, then moving to Ukraine with a small force of Italians will allow you to use the classic can opener threat from AA50.  Could be a good buy on G2 with the spare funds, or even on G1 if you really wanted to for a strong push on Russia G3.

      I have found if the US sticks it Navy out there too soon a smart Japanese player will pick off the US Navy first.  Not sure if anyone else has had this same experience.  And if the US waits a couple of turns to strengthen its Navy the DEI belongs to Japan and the British Navy is gone with that part of the Japanese fleet sailing back to the Phillipines.
          Thats just been our experience for the most part.

      The standard Allied strategy is Kill Germany First. The Allies don’t normally commit to Asia by building factories. That’s not to say Indian factories are impossible but the Allies need to do other things to keep Japan busy. Some ideas are Russia stacking Buryatia, the UK killing the Kwangtung transport, sending their sub to try to sink Japan’s sub, and placing their bomber somewhere threatening to Japan(such as Novosibirsk), and a US Pacific strategy. There are several articles you’ll find interesting on this page, anything with KJF in the title. http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?board=55.0

      Japan shouldn’t be able to get away with taking India J1 if you kill their Kwangtung transport. They’ll have(theoretically) 2 inf, 4 fighters, and a bomber to the UK’s 4-5 inf, fighter, and aa gun. This leaves only 5 inf and a fighter in range to attack China. The economics of the India attack don’t work out, the USA will have a great start to the Pacific strategy because their ships weren’t attacked or they’ll have a counterattack on Japan, and Russia should have 2 tanks in Caucuses to retake India for the UK(allowing the Brits to build on UK2).

      @Hobbes:

      @SilverAngelSurfer:

      For instance, many people believe that in Revised the Axis have a better chance of winning with the starting setup on the board, so often the players will give the player with the Allies a certain number of extra IPCs right at the start of the game (usually under 10 IPCs) which that player can use to immediately place extra pieces in places where they think they’ll need it.

      Don’t you mean the other way around?

      Oops, yeah.  I typed Revised while I was thinking AA50.

      That AA-gun should be embarked on a tranny J1, and sent to Yunnan or Phillipines.

      UK start with 5 aircrafts and ANZAC with 4, and not to imagine the hundreds US will soon build, so you are gonna need it some place.

      I do similiar moves with China. I don’t allow any walk ins, I want a chance to kill an infantry unit in every territory Japan walks into. I’ll keep a mass (or as many as I can mass up) of infantry behind the front lines with the fighter as a counter attack force. If Japan can muster a ground force larger then I think I can counter attack and kill I’ll move my mass further back and to the north so ultimately it will cost Japan an extra turn of movement when China does die and they go after India. I’m always looking to counter attack. If you can get the Brits and China working together to keep Yunan from falling to the Japanese that’s great too, but, it really depends on how the game progresses.
