    • RE: Impressions after 2 plays….

      @WILD:

      We just finished a game that went almost exactly how yours did. Russia did a a couple small battles. Germany kills the UK Atlantic BB, the US dd/tpts and built a carrier for the Baltic. The UK also tried to kill off the Japanese DIE fleet, and failed miserably. All UK units lost, and Japan kept the carrier & dinged bb. UK losing that much stuff round1 on the Pac side set-up very well for the axis, and the allies lost ground all game (Asia & Africa seemed like mere speed bumps). The US seemed under powered to compete w/Japan (with virtually no help from UK) even though they spent pretty exclusive Pac side. In a couple rounds the Chinese (US) were gone, India and Egypt fell. Japan was making about 40+, and Germany got into the 50’s. Early on Germany took Kar, then hit Moscow, but pulled out when inf stacks were depleted (Moscow would have held). Germany then took Caucasus as Japan started grabbing Russian land near Asia & the Mid east. Germany got its second wind (even though the Brits did some nuance landing parties in W Europe and crushed Moscow a couple turns later by reinforcing Kar through the Baltic w/3 tpts. The UK did build enough air power to kill the German Baltic fleet, but by that time the damage was done (Germany should have built another dd, but missed it). I think the game went about 6 rounds or so, and allies pulled the plug.

      I agree with all the others. Our first game went almost exactly like the post above.

      It seems to me that the Allied powers are far too weak. It only  took germany a few rounds to get into the 50+ IPC range.

      You’re not the only one. When I received my copy last Thursday I was also checked too see that there were no ipc, no industrial complex figures and no trays. I have only ever owned the original aa 2nd edition from Milton Bradley and expected the same quality.

      @Mallery29:

      @maxx001:

      I had the complete opposite experience with this new version when we played it the first time lastweekend. The axis powers were unstoppable and won the game. Especially Germany is really strong and ended up taking all of Europe, most of Russia and all the way down to India.

      What was the R1 buy/moves and UK1 buy/moves?  I know Russia is in a hard spot, but even on 1st ed where I thought the Axis had the advantage, I would never say they were unstoppable…

      I don’t remember what the Russians bought but we, as the allies, and made a terrible mistake and decided that Russia should attack western Russia which is under German control. He won the battle but left the front line against Germany far too weak because of the losses in the battle. The next few rounds the germans pushed i to Russia and Russia was out of the game.

    • Question about damaged Industrial Complexes

      I have a question about the rules in the rulebook about damaged industrial complexes.

      The rule book states the following:

      Bombers can damage industrial complexes directly. Plastic chips are placed under the targeted industrial complex. For each plastic chip that is under a given industrial complex, that factory can mobilize one less unit. Total damage to an industrial complex cannot exceed twice the IPC value of the territory on which the factory is located. Industrial Complexes cannot be destroyed. They can be heavily damaged, however, and can be damaged to the point where they have at least as many damage markers as they have production capacity. In this case, no new units can enter the game through that factory until it is repaired.

      I don’t understand from the above text how much damage i can make to a factory with a strategic bombing raid. Can i make twice the IPC value or just the IPC value? The two quotes that i highlighted with bold seems to contradict each other or am i missing something?

      Can someone please clarify?

      @maxx001:

      The germans are a lot stronger in this version than the original MB 1942 that i also own.

      Welcome to the forums maxx. I guess you’ve been out of the loop for a while but this is the 4th edition or so since that old MB version. So lots of things have changed.

      But I have to ask. Are you sure you’re not playing the existing 1942 (first) edition. (The germans are also much stronger in that version.) Because this edition has not been released yet. It will be about another week until it comes out.

      Yes i got it thursday this week for 52 USD.

      And you’re right, I haven’t played any other version than the original 2nd edition from mb. and this new 2nd edition :)

    • RE: Finally! Non-Moscow Axis victory! Do the Allies stand a chance?

      Where did you hear this?

      We had our first game last night and assumed that Honolulu was an error and therefore ignored it as a Victory City.

    • RE: Japan gets killed

      We just had our first game last night and the english fleet got crushed by Japan in the very first U.K round ;)

      But you don’t really have any choice but to attack the japanese fleet because they will crush you even harder in their round if you don’t.

      BTW. the game ended with the axis powers winning big time.

      Russia got crumbled almost from round one. The germans are a lot stronger in this version than the original MB 1942 that i also own.

    • RE: 1942 Second Edition Preview 1: Contents of the Box

      I just got the game with the mail today!

      I only owned the original 2nd Edition version of Axis & Allies from Milton Bradley (1986) and was a little shocked to find the new game box so small compared to the old one.

      Oh and they excluded the IPC’s in this version just like i read they did in the first edition of this game! Thats a shame for all those who buy this game and don’t own another version which has the money…

      I would post some screen shots of the game board, but i’m not allowed to post pictures and links.
