Really the only thing we seem to run out of is chips. That and maybe bombers if the US is going the crush Germany/Japan’s economy route.

RE: Sealion inevitable?posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
From what I have read, Sealion will happen only if the UK player has bad luck or isn’t paying attention. So it still seems like the best thing to do is get rid of France and look East toward the boundless motherland.

RE: My way of balancing pacific 1940, good for j1, j2, and j3posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
My thinking is as a separate game this setup is flawed, but I’m betting anything that the Global game (the one we are all going to play from here on out for the most part) is pretty balanced with the addition of all those Russian infantry to the North of Manchuria. Something tells me that India crush strategy will take a beating.

Yeah I’m the same way, we have a TV tray beside the table where the drinks and food sit.

RE: Japan-Soviet Non-Aggression-Pactposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
That might be a viable strategy to look into, the good ol’ Japan push into Russia. Who knows, if they can do that it would definitely help Germany, but you also would be sacrificing the Pacific to the US and losing your NO bonuses for the islands. Risky but sounding like a sensible angle to take.

RE: Tanks too expensiveposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
To me rail lines would be cool but then we would have to enact rules that would allow you to destroy the rail lines, etc. I think the way it is now does a good job of showing how tough it is to invade Russia. Germany actually got to withing 15 miles of Moscow but the Russian winter pretty much stopped everything in it’s tracks, and the Russians then counterattacked with winterized units, something the Germans did not have. So in a sense the rails did help move units through Europe but once you got to inland Russia units pretty much had to walk or travel by vehicle to go anywhere.

Straight beast mode guys, and it is good to hear that the game is pretty balanced.

RE: Table Situation???posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
My main problem is that I live in Texas where we don’t build basements, lol. I live in a modest sized house so really the only place I could keep this for an extended period would be the garage, which is not an option during the summer. I guess we will just have to gut our games out in an evening so my mom won’t have a cow about it taking up the dining room table.

All I know is once you activate a neutral you must stop, so I guess as long as Jordan is not neutral you can blitz through to get to Iraq.

It actually should be 30 IPCs, 1 in 6 chance at 5 IPCs per chance=30.

RE: Japan-Soviet Non-Aggression-Pactposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
@SAS:
It is a threat, especially if Russia flies some bombers over, but it is a threat with no backup. With the rest of the Soviet army several turns away, once you take 18 hits you’re done. So Russia has to be careful that while it is distracting Japan to win the Battle of the Pacific it doesn’t end up losing the war.
Does the free 2 inf. per turn rule for Russia apply in the Global game? If so then you could get much more than just 18 hits……

RE: Political Questionposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Well why would you do that? There is an NO for Russia that is nullified if you have allies in her home territories. Less money=no bueno.

RE: Tanks too expensiveposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
And I too believe that tanks increasing in cost is a good thing. But unlike IL I don’t think AAE was broken. If you use the US to take over the Atlantic, the UK can build planes and shuck them to Leningrad for the conversion to the Russian equivalent. Two planes a turn and by turn 3 or 4 when Germany is ready to attack you can have 6 planes to defend with as the Russians with meat shields aplenty.
