I remember like it was yesterday. Me and my friends were playing video games and they were arguing about pieces being moved, money being switched etc. (my friends were two brothers). I asked what the commotion was about and they said, “Axis & Allies.” What a revelation, this was like 1996-97, I was 11 and my friends were 12 & 14 at the time. We played a couple of rounds, (never finished a game) but I absolutely had to have this game. So for my 12th birthday I went down with money from family and bought my own copy of the original at a Toys-R-Us. Man I would spend weeks playing this over the summer with friends and family. Like many other people though I kinda lost interest until I was reading on the internet and found out that there were new versions of the game out. I had to have them! Now I just got AAP40 and me and my dad play when we get some free time, trying to find more friends that will play but most of my friends just don’t have the patience for a game that can last an entire day. I miss those old days when I was in middle school and just played until we passed out in the wee hours of the morning, man those were fun times.

I think it is to represent that the infantry that activate in Mongolia are resistance troops that only care about their lands and nothing more, they are only there for their own defense, not for anything else.

RE: AA 40 Pacific Setup Picturesposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I don’t believe there are enough tac bombers for Japan either but I certainly wont be buying annother copy to get a few extra airplanes…. That would be INSANE.
Unless WOTC thinks that its customers are INSANE, I don’t think there is a conspiracy to get us to buy two coppies BD…
I will make due with the pieces that I have. Is it really going to affect the gameplay THAT significantly?
Yes, it’s a shame they didn’t trade 4 of the 8 extra fighters for 4 tac bombers. Oops. They goofed. Big deal. I can live without those 4 planes.
If for some reason I become completly retarted and can’t figure out where I sent all of my tac bombers and then my strategy gets messed up and my opponents accuse me of cheating and we get in fights and I loose my friends and no one will play the game with me anymore so I start playing against myself but my Japanese self can’t for the life of me keep track of my tac bombers without an individual piece for each and every one of them and this problem becomes so frustrating that I can’t even conceive of playing this game any longer without rectifything the situation…
then I will paint little stripes on my extra fighters.
+1, that was awesome.

You know if twins were involved that would invariably make for an awkward moment when you said one’s name at an inopportune time, you know what I mean.

Seems fairly logical to me, ANZAC has to something to get that bonus in return.

Awesome pics Bill, I cannot wait to play this game, I absolutely love it. The board is huge!!! I can only imagine how it will be when you have AAE40 and AAP40 together, :-D. I need to read my rulebook tonight, so many new things to learn (have not played or gotten an AA game since the original and AAP and AAE).

RE: Disadvantages for starting in 1940posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Yeah I’m surprised that Japan has won every game, please do tell us. And i-rock, good luck finding a cheap copy of Anniversary ed. The cheapest I have ever seen it was for $200. I don’t care if the game makes me poop gold after I get done playing it, $200 for one game is ridiculous.

RE: Money and additional chips in Europe, I hopeposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
So from what I gather there are not enough units and chips for the game to be set up, or not enough because of purchasing choices? If the latter is the case then that has always been a little bit of a problem, but the former is unacceptable. I have yet to set mine up because I haven’t had the time, but if I find pieces missing to where I can’t completely set up the game initially, then I will be sending letters and e-mails jumping down WOTC’s throat that I want at least the minimum amount of pieces to initially set the game up. As for the higher prices in UK, that is a shame. I do know that MSRP here in the states is about 89.99, but it seems that no one is actually charging that much. Maybe UK stores were forced to buy closer to MSRP so that they had to charge the equivalent in pounds, IDK. It does suck though.

This is awesome, thanks everyone for this. I’m glad to hear that mostly everyone seemed to get theirs quickly without any hassle. I also got mine on the 15th and have yet to play it, I cannot wait though, probably will start tonight and go through the weekend of and on.

RE: New Unit Clarificationsposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I think for Pacific that yes, armor will not be used as much. But in the European side, armor will be a big thing. Pacific theater will be more about island hopping still, so infantry, ships and planes are still where it’s at. But don’t kid yourself, tanks own on land, and they will in Europe.

RE: SIGN OFF HERE WHEN YOU GET YOUR COPY!posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Well I checked coolstuffinc.com’s site and they shipped mine on the 10th, and I checked UPS and it should arrive sometime tomorrow, YAY! I paid a total of $72.61 which includes shipping. So from what it is looking like, you pay a cheaper price online but the stores seem to sell them a little earlier than the actual release date. So I guess it is a matter of whether you want to pay an extra $10-$20 to get the game early vs. having to wait a little longer. All I know is I cannot wait! My luck that I actually have the day off tomorrow and since I finished up school already, looks like I’m spending my day getting my A&A on!

RE: ANZAC NO #2posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I think another reason that this NO is offered is to show the morale boost by the ANZAC for their first victory over the Japanese. A $5 boost is better than a $0 boost, that 's for sure.

RE: AAP40 Shipping Nowposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Got an email notice from both UPS and Field Marshal Games that my copy is shipping on 12/14/2009 and will be at my door in Florida on 12/18/2009. Huurah……can’t wait! :-D
what part of Florida do you live in? I live in Gainesville Florida.
What’s the going rate for Tebow’s tears, I hear they cure cancer and give you god-like powers, apparently you receive palm leaves and a borrowed donkey for free with your second drop.

RE: Rules Q&Aposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Keeps the game true to it’s roots, WWII. And from what I know, once turn three is completed, regardless of how the game is going, everyone automatically declares war on Japan.

RE: Get rid of the cardboardposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I second that notion that they went a little cheap by not having some basic things like paper money. The cardboard pieces I can let slide because you can argue that they save space, but the money, dividers and little touches like that are what separates the great games from the good ones.

SIGN OFF HERE WHEN YOU GET YOUR COPY!posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Hey guys, when your copy comes in the mail, or when you pick it up in the store, post on here to let everyone know so we can gauge where and when everyone else might get their copy. Make sure to say whether you preordered it through the mail or got it in your local hobby shop. Thanks guys, hopefully we can see who ships the fastest, or who sells their copies early possibly, give us a leg up next time around. Cheers!

RE: Schedule of previews of AAP40posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
did I miss the new rules for Neutrals?
I almost forgot about that, didn’t Larry say something about Neutral territories being able to defend or something like that? I remember him saying that neutrals can be conquered now, right?

Sorry, let me be a little more clear, I was talking about Razor, not Djensen.
