    • RE: Ethiopia

In “XENOS WORLD AT WAR” Ethiopia is still Italian - containing 2 infantry.

It is a nice game but you need patience if you are the US or Russian Player.

Larrys games (AA, AA revised und AA50) have more gameflow.

      Nice discussion.

I use my wonderfull german: “Besatzer-Englisch” to get more information about this “must-have-game”.

…and I wonder how italiansarecoming will understand this 48 page rulebook.

    • RE: Attacking Transports - eligible for taking casualties???

      Hi.

      They explain it to me.

You first have to choose warships for casualties!

In your example one attacking transport is leftover.

You can stay now after the first round of combat and your last transport is destroyed automatically -

or you retreat with the last transport in one seazone your attackers came from.

I’ve got a question about SBR.

I read the informations on the fact sheet:
_- Strategic boming now functions drastically differently. Every strategic bombing “hit” reduces the unit production capacity of that industrial complex by 1. Once the damage to an industrial complex equals the value of the territory it is in, that industrial complex can no longer produce units. (i.e. if an industrial complex in Germany is bombed for 6 damage, it can only produce 4 units a turn until repaired). Damage to industrial complexes can be repaired for 1 IPC per damage point.

The maximum number of damage points an IC can sustain is twice the IPC value of the territory it’s in.  The number of damage points inflicted on the IC is subtracted from its production capacity.

If an IC in India is bombed for 4 points of damage, the owner must repair 2 of the damage points in order to produce one unit there.  The owner must repair all four points for full production._

If a Bomber from UK bombs Germany on a SBR with a roll of 5.

Does it mean I have to pay 5 IPCs now for bombing - and on my turn I have to repair the IC for 5 IPCs?

    • RE: Game balance

      by the way…

Is there a difference between the starting income and the contries IPC values in the 41 scenario?
      (like XENOS world at war)

I can’t believe that UK starts with 43 IPCs!

      From the fact sheet:
      _Order of play:

      • Germany, Russia, Japan, UK, Italy, US in '41.

The IPC values for -41 scenario should be:
      Germany 31  (+ 5 IPC bonus controlled at-start)
      Soviet Union 30 (+ 5 IPC bonus controlled at-start)
      Japan 17 (+5 IPC bonus controlled at-start)
      UK 43
      Italy 10 (+5 IPC bonus controlled at-start)
US/China 40 (+ 5 IPC bonus controlled at-start), China produces 1 free inf for each two Chinese territories controlled at the start of US turn.

IPC balance (bonuses included, 2 inf worth of China inf):
      Axis: 73, Allies: 129._

    • RE: Game balance

      I prefer a “good game”.

I dont need to win every time.

      Not with a boardgame that lasts 6 - 7 hours….

It is correct that the axis have a disadvantage. Stronger players like the axis.

If you are playing with low-luck-rules in tournaments and use everytime the same strategy - the you need bids.

I dont like bids. They are not necessary.

I liked they way Larry designed and balanced the A&a games. …and I played my first MB boardgame Axis & Allies 18 years ago.

I’m shure he did a great job on A&A50.

      I already preordered the game.

      Ok.

In fact Larry likes the german wolfrudels.

And I hate it too if the US bomber in the revised edition crosses the atlantic and bomb my lonley sub in the northern atlantic.

Is it possible to attack an enemy sub with two cruisers, or a battleship?

Or will I always need a destroyer to detect them?

    • RE: Italy + SBR = destruction?

I think you forget the dices…

SBR are a big risk! ….maybe with superbombers it’s gone be hard for your opponent.

How often made my brave british bombers their way to germany - avoiding AA-fire - released their payload and then???

I rolled a 1, next time a 3 and on my third run this damn german AA shot down my Bomber! I lost 15 IPC to reduce the german income only for 4 IPCs in two rounds of combat.

The best way to use bombers is to support your fleet operations and small land combat operations.

In the revised edition my japanese standart first production is a factory and a bomber. To keep the US-ships away and support my few infantrymen on their way to Moskau - China - India……

    • RE: Italy + SBR = destruction?

      What’s the problem?

You won’t buy “THIS GAME” cause somebody could bomb Italy to ruins?

With this new weapon develop system there is a good chance to develop radar. Three bombers fly in and you will shot one down every round!

If they concentrate on Italy - Germany and Japan will give’em hell!

Bombers are expensive! If they build a lot of it, the somewhere on the board are less ships, infantery, etc….

This game can’t be ruled by a single factor like SBR or rockets!

    • RE: Unit abilities

I get this from the fact sheet:

      • The submarine now costs 6 and has 2/1 combat stats. Submarines can no longer be attacked by aircraft unless there is also an attacking destroyer in that same zone.

I’ve got a few questions to this rule:

I can attack a submarine with other naval units … for example with a carrier or a sub.
If i go with one cruiser, one carrier and two planes into a hostile seazone with two enemy subs and follow this rule… Then I could attack only with my two ships?

How can my carrier detect a sub in the same battle and the fighters can’t?

      The correct rule should be:
Submarines can no longer be attacked by aircraft unless there is also a naval vessel or allied naval vessel in that same zone.

This detection rule is not necessary. Destroyers block the deadly-first-shot and prevent the submerge of enemy subs
