    • RE: Japan & Russia

      Japan needs an IC in Manchuria to deal with russian and chinese infantry and advance in both countries. To ignore russian territories because of low IPC income will be a mistake.

      … and the only reason to dig throug the chinese - is to grab the russians at their hairy bxxxx.

      The sea of Japan (Sz 62) is ideal for supporting the advance into russia and china.

      @JohnBarbarossa:

      @marechallannes:

      Why should there be a bomber?

      Japan got 8 figthers!

      The allies have to build their tanks and artilleries, too. Look at the russians…

      So japan is forced to build bombers and ships.

      I am not saying the bomber should be there. I am just saying when setting up the board, it is easy to forget the bomber on Japan. And we are assuming here that Larry forgot to set up some units.
      When our playgroup forgets something to place it has been units on Japan many times. They are more easily overlooked. Same goes voor IC’s and AA guns.

      …or german infantry.

    • RE: Playtest report and conclusions

      @Driel310:

      My dear Marechallens, do you have any idea how much IPC UK has on the first turn?

      A whopping 43! Add to that that 1 DD, and 1 CA will always survive G1 and you have your fleet build (even in SZ2 if needed) on UK1.

      Germany needs the infantry bad, really really bad like silent observer described or the Soviets will be knocking on your doorstep on R3/R4.

      I know the UK IPC starting income very well. But as the british player you have to care about africa, india and australia too.

      What is your german production an G2? 12 infantry?

      The german has to kick the russian fast and that does not work only with infanry.

      PS: Hey, I dont want to say you are noobs or something like that. But 10 inf in G1 seems very special.

      @marechallannes:

      PS: Generalfeldmarschall Rommel würde sich im Grabe rumdrehen.

      Rommel would certainly not turn around inside his grave for such a purchase, since Rommel was a great strategist.
      Armour, planes and ships don’t conquer and occupy territories. Infantry does, and in large quantities.
      You surely don’t know what you are talking about. Bring on that allied play of yours.

      That is a typical russian tactic.

      Rommel won his battels with fast tanks and mechanized infantry.

      My tip:
      Janusz Piekalkiewicz (from Poland) “Der Wüstenkrieg in Afrika”
      or
      Paul Carell (from Germany) “Die Wüstenfüchse”

      …and in AA50 you can conquer and occupy territories with a single infantry. LOL

    • RE: Playtest report and conclusions

      First you go for the english fleet in northern atlantic, especially their transports to avoid bigger amphibious landings in turn 1 and 2. This will give you space for building offensive units.

      You need a base production of 3 - 4 german infantry per turn. But not to establish fortress europe. The german infantry is cannonfodder for the Ostfront.

      As the UK player im afraid of german combined figther-, bomber- and sub-attacks vs. my homefleet ant the transports, not a bunch of sauerkraut eating infantry in france and north-west europe.

      @JohnBarbarossa:

      German build 10 infantry.

      What is this production for? Hoping o the Endsieg with Volkssturm and stuff like that?

      No sub, no Tank, no Tech roll?

      A normal experienced allied player will love you for this production.

      @Lynxes:

      1. 1 inf extra in each of the China up-front areas.
      2. 1 Japanese transport in Sea of Japan.
      3. 1 ftr in Moscow.
      4. 1 UK DD in EMD.

      That makes sense. I think the Germans take Gibraltar and the Italians Trans-Jordan.

      No Problem for Italy to get the 5+5 Bonus in game turn 1.

      Thanks

      @Romulus:

      Ehm… Perry, I have already Pre-ordered the game. I have already paid for it. And now they re-schedule it to 18 November withouth even explain why.

      That is a point.

      I preordered it too and I want to play it on the original board, with the original setup-charts and complete rules.

      @Romulus:

      By the way 1991 should be an MB Edition, also they had problems with units colours?

      Yes I got two MB games with a copyrigth from 1986 on the rulebook.

      Only the infantry unit models are different and they changed the colours of german and us infantry.

    • RE: New Release Date - November 18?

      That is not funny. Should we discuss another month about the game features??

      I remember my first A&A bought in 1991. The german infantry coloured in green and the american infantry in gray.
      I dont worry about orange panthers and gray Type 85 Tanks. I’ve got enough playing pieces and in the correct colours.

    • RE: Transports in combat

      Enemy subs and enemy transports dont block the seazones anymore.
      So it is possible to move only with a transport through a seazone occupied by 1 or more enemy subs?

    • RE: Italy + SBR = destruction?

      @italiansarecoming:

      Thas why i when i heard about this game and no pics where out yet i assumed italy would have 1 bship.

      This looks accurate since the italian navy was the same size as the english navy in ww2 in the med. sea.
      The only problem i can see is german and italian turns are not the same and if you look at the setups more german troopz are in lybia and algeria this will be a problem!
      Italy and german troops will have to make an agreement like germany defends italy while italy goes all out on africa?

      Germany should attack egypt first. I posted this strategie on october 5th on this topic.

    • RE: Italy + SBR = destruction?

      That is right. Two infantrys or inf + artillery should be the basic production for the italians.

      …and you need to cover your battleship and the cuisers from turn 2 or 3. Subs are cheap (6 IPCs).

      But I think it is no solution to hide the impressive Italian fleet in the firts turns.

      The germans will clear the north sea and northern atlantik from UK ships (especiallay UK destroyers) in the first turn. Teamwork is essential.

      There is never enough money for big ships if two opponents concentrate on you. No matter if you german or italian.

    • RE: Italy + SBR = destruction?

      Did you read the sentence about the battleship and the cruiser at gibraltar? I am talking about turn 1, not turn 3 or 4.

      … and that is what the Italians are for: To keep the allies out of the med sea and north africa.

    • RE: Italy + SBR = destruction?

      There is no way to bring Italy down that fast.

      I made a joke.

      Italy joined the Allies in 1943.

      If the allies are able to send three Bombers pert turn to Italy… That will a problem.

      But you are not forced to repair you ICs. The maximum damage they can do to Italy is 12.
      With the “keep-the-mediterian-sea-allied-free bonus” Italy can build a new IC in balkan.
      Out of reach for allied bombers.

      And every allied bomber means less allied ships. Remember: german subs are safe from british figthers. Transports can’t fight anymore.

      A good strategy for germany is to support Italy with the attack on Egypt.

      There is a german Transporter in southern france. It picks up 2 Infantrys from france to egypt and with the german forces from lybia and the german bomber support you kill or reduce the strong UK forces in egypt.

      Now UK will not be able to attack lybia or fortify egypt with the transjordan units and Italy is able to invade egypt.

      By the way:I think the italian battleship and 1 cruiser are needed to close the mediterian sea at gibraltar.
