    • RE: đź‘‹ Introduce or Re-Introduce Yourself (Current)

Hallo everybody. My name is Marco, from Italy, Milan
      I am passionate about A&A, I have 4 boxes.
Pacific and Europe, bought in early 2.000 and 1940 second edition, both PAcific and Europe.
I would like to find real players in Italy, and I would like to build a larger map.
I sometime play on tripleA as well
      Chhers and thanks

    • RE: House Rules: Master List

      Hi to all
      I played a few times with A&A, especially G40
I was recently thinking about the importance of generals in WWII, somehow inspiring and leading their troops, with some special abilities.
Therefore i thougt about the following:
The possibility to purchase generals, with certain abilities and giving extra advantage to some units, in certain scenarios.

      Here the list
      Germany

      • Rommel. Role / Army. Give extra power when linked to armors (+1) to one armor unit. The unit attack at 4, instead of 3.
The rule apply only if the general is linked to one specific armor. Only in North Africa or Russia
      • Goering. Role / Airforce. Give extra power when linked to bombers, either in SBR or combat. Give + 1 in attack, only to the one bomber to which is linked.
Apply only to UK, France and Russia

      Italy

      • Graziani. Role / Army. Give extra power to armor attack, same like Rommel. Only apply in North Africa
      • Riccardi. Role / Navy. Give extra power to Battleship only, and only in mediterrenean sea (+1 for battelship)
      • AS ALTERNATIVE Valerio Borghese, linked to submarine. Give extra power for attack in mediterranean only, It would resemble the XMAS who caused a lot of trouble to UK in the period
Subs in mediterranean sea attack with 3

      Russia

      • Zukhov; Vasililevskiy; Role / both Army. One to infantry, one to armor. Give + 1 when attaking with tanks, or +2 when attaking infantry, but only against Germans or Italians. No ability if used against Japan

      Japan

      • Yamamoto. Role / Navy. Give extra power when linked to a battleship (same like Riccardi)
      • Kuribayashi. Role / Amry. Give extra power when linked to armor (+1); or infantry (+2)
Advantages apply only on pacific theater

      USA

      • Patton. Role / Army. Give extra power to armor (+1), only in europe war
      • Nimitz. Role / Navy. Give extra movement (+1) to both planes on the Cruiser with which is paired. Apply only on pacific theater
      • MacArthur. Role / Army. Give extra power to armor or infantry (same like Kuribayashi). Can apply both pacific or europe

      UK

      • Montgomery. Role / Army. Give extra power like MacArthur. Apply only in north Africa and Europe.
      • Mountbatten. Role / Navy. Give extra power to battleship, only on Euope map (i.e. atlantic and mediterranean)

      France

      • De Gaulle. Role / Army. Give extra power to infantry only. Only apply to north africa, or after France is liberated, only in Europe and only against Germany

      Cost for generals, 12 IPC (10 ???)
One general is linked to one unit only, and attack together with that unit.
When purchased, the general is linked to a unit on the map, related to his ability role (i.e. Navy, Army, Airforce)

If the unit is lost during the attack phase, the general is lost (dead).
If the the unit, paired with the general, is lost during defense phase, the general is captured, and “jailed” in the capital city of the enemy who won the battle.
The general can be freed if the capital city is conquered / liberated
Each general can be purchased only 1 time. Generals do not have any attack or defense power, nor movement allowance, but they get the movement, attack and defense value of the unit they are stacked to

      @Tjoek
Hi, I tried to download and print this map, but he program says that the dimension is approx is slightly bigger that the OOB map.
Did I do something wrong ?
Where I can find, download a map for local printing in high resolution ?
I would pay for the dowload of a good map, that could give +30% of the original size
      Any suggestion ?
      Thanks

      @Raider13
It might be worth to build one or max 2 minor complex on the way to Moscow, like in Rumania or Poland, in order to build inf and/or art more close to the front. But I never built a MIC in Finland.
      Better buy troops and planes

      @AndrewAAGamer
Agree. Also Germany get a +5 for any unit in Egypt, right ?
But I see that to try it in an early phase, is more the pain than the gain, because Egypt is a usually a ping-pong, between IT and UK. So, even if you have one or two German units there, you can keep them for a 1 turn or 2

      @SuperbattleshipYamato
You get +5 if no ships in Med.
If in I2 you get gibiltrar you get another +5

    • RE: The Italian playbook

Hi. I like to play Italy, and usually my opponents say I do rather well
I know a good UK player should try to smash Italy as much as possible, and as soon as possible
      Anyway not always happens

So, based on the following assumptions
      A) UK does not do Taranto, because Germany landed with 1 or 2 fght in South Italy
      B) G1 Germany take off the cruiser sitting in SZ91
      C) UK wiped out SZ96, but then moved east, toward transJordan, to take Iraq and down to East Africa, IT remains with no army in Somalia and Eritrea.
      D) Germany left untaken South France

Then a good starter for I1 would be

      • buy 2 inf + 1 art
      • Attack SZ93 with 1 cruiser, 1 sub, 1 destr + 1 bomb
      • Move 1 transp to SZ97
      • Anfibious assault with 1 art + 3 inf. + 1 fight + all units in Albania, take Greece
      • Attack South France with 2 inf + 1 art + 1 fight
      • Attack Tunis with 1 inf. + 1 art + 1 mech inf. + 1 tank

      Non combat mov
Move 1 tank from north IT to Bulgaria

You shoud be able to get 10 + 7 + 5 (if no other UK ships in Med)

I2 go for Gibiltrar (if not massively occupied by UK) or complete north Africa with Algeria + Marocco
In order to be a good support to Germany and close the door (at least for a while) to US and UK, you should reach approx 30 IPC for I3 and following.
Also depends how aggressive is JAP in India, UK may think to move the fleet out of mediterranean sea

      @FranceNeedsMorePower
Yes, unless you have money to waste there, or UK need support in north Africa.
Otherwise just collect +2 from Brasil; + 5 from Guinea + 5 from Malaysia, +3 Celebes, + 4 from Java
With +/- 30 IPC each round you can build a decent navy and bother JAP in the Pacific.
I usually prefer to build a second MIC in Queensland

    • RE: Anzac Shuck Into Europe

WOW, so much comments on an old topic.
What I was saying, was rather simple.
Taking 2 IPC more in Brasil, and stuck 4 / 5 troops in GBTR, would be of help.
Then I would not spend much more time there.
Meantime ANZAC should grab any chance to disturb the JAP on the money islands, and building ships, ships, ships
SZ54 is in the range of 1 move, from Hawai, so Anzac fleet can join with US, and viceversa.
This would be of help against the overhelming JAP fleet.
When playing on TripleA, I am usually able to get back Philippines with ANZAC, with great benefit for US.
ANZAC has a lot do (as a support); even if it start with very low income and very less units.

    • RE: It's impossible for Japan to win in A&A Pacific

I personally played this game several times, alone and with friens
My consideration is that 6 or 7/10 Japan can win.
Take most advantage of the J1 special rule.
Take most of the money island and sink all the ship you can; british too; focus on allies transport too.
Move all in to India; while pushing China west.
Japan can win if they get India within J4 / J5.
The longer the game, the more the pain, because US pressure will become too hard to hold
