    • RE: Japan gets killed

      If the UK has anything left after UK1 w/full on assualt, Japan is S-C-R-E-W-E-D.  That CV FTR would be the last unit taken, and you are already going to drop 3 units there anyways.  And with a CA from SZ19, BB/DD from WUS, and another FTR for the CV with Bomber/FTR on standby in Hawaii (including any purchases made for US1 (like CV/FTR/FTR/Transport), would immediately put the Japanese on the defensive……

      Don’t you just hate those furry little things that live in the woods? I am vegetarian, but I would eat one of those horrid, squeaky things. Long live the Empire and the evil Dark Side.

      They make great rugs too!

      Ann is SO hot (but she cut her hair! WHY!!!)……don’t expect Dark Knight quality.  Missed opportunities and lots of Hollywood plot spoon feeding devices…for a guy who did Dark Knight and Inception, this was a step in the wrong direction.  Hey, at least GI Joe 2 and Skyfall come out soon!

      I would prefer to keep IT’s money, so instead of the CV, could just build the Airbase in Romania on G2…it would save a dollar, but the CV can take hits and defends at 2.

      In addition to this, on IT2, use the bomber to hit Ukraine, and on G3 (assuming Brits are gone), use the Bombers to double up there and/or Lennigrad.

      on G2, I guess with the 39 IPC left you could go 2 tanks, 6 mechs, 1 inf,

      G3, assuming you would have about 52, take away 14 for the 2 transports, that would be another 2 tanks, 5 mechs, 2inf (depending if you need another sub or not).

      Do you see a problem/understand the buys?  Your German subs would have to buy you time with by taking out the Brit DD/Transports (leaving the 2 CA/BB fleet in 110 alone), but once you put all your AF in Belgium, I believe you would make the UK sh&t a brick and withdrawl.  Sure, they know you wouldn’t be doing sealion and can modify buys accordingly, but you weren’t going to hold Africa anyways, so this isn’t a big deal…

      G1: IC, DD, SS, Mech
      G2: CV, DD, TT for Romania, buy whatever (Tanks/mech) for Germany (you should have 70IPC to spend anyways, so what is 31 of that 70).
      IT2: Open a hole in E.Poland/Baltic
      G3: 2 more Transports, land in two units in Russia backyard
      G4: make way to Lennigrad, continue circumventing Russian defenses. (Remember the ITs can use the transports too!)

      I just want to know if there is a rule preventing placing in the Black Sea since you can’t enter it.

      @Cmdr:

      @Mallery29:

      @Cmdr:

      @Odonis:

      The unlikely part of this scenario, Jenn, is that Germany would run into a wall of 15-18 Russian Infantry along the way. Not much opportunity to blitz…

      Hmm, yes, if Germany decided to go from west to east over Mongolia.  I was thinking more in tandem with a Japanese push through China.  More of an “after the fact” move.  Japan takes China and Germany drives through to Manchuria and then up and over.Â

      Not saying this is a good move, but it’s got a certain psychological impact on an opponent, at least the first time s/he sees it.

      Considering most people stagger instead of stack, I could see where Jen is making her point, especially if you use the Japan AF to blow away 6-7 inf in one attack.Â

      You could use the air force for that, and I do that quite often on Indian or Chinese stacks (as strategically necessary, of course) but I am thinking more of running your tanks into China.Â

      Course, I didnt think of clearing the Russians out with the Air force.  Even with that idea, I’d say China is better, otherwise, you drag Russian infantry back to the east (which maybe is what you want?)

      I think by the time your Germans get out there, the Chinese should be crippled as it is.

    • RE: Bizarre attacks

      Two questions: (global noob, so please forgive stupidity)

      1. if all of the UK transports survive the opening round of G1, would you take Venezuela, Portugal, Spain, Greece, Turkey, Persia, and Saudi Arabia?  That would give you 13 IPC, and really only give Sweden to the Axis.  This would really keep Germany offbalance and away from Russia for a while.

      2)What prevents Germany from building a mIC in Romania, then G2 planting a carrier, DD, transport in the Black Sea (since the strait is closed, why not bypass the strait), then just build more and more transports to bypass the Russian lines)?

      I’m sure this has been asked before, but just wanted to see.

    • RE: Kaiser vs Hitler

      @Imperious:

      But what is the question?
      Who has a better chance in their time?
      Kaiser, very easy.
      He had much smaller range of what he considered to be success. Germany nearly won that war three different times and conquered Russia ( sending Lenin on a train was a good move)
      The central powers also had much closer military and economic capabilities.

      Have to agree here…Russia wasn’t really industrialized yet (and had it’s own internal issues).  Didn’t Germany have a good tech advantage too?

    • Russia opening move?

      This is a toughy.  In 1st ed, I thought it was easy for me to decide on what to do…(assume strait closed)

      Option 1: Buy 6inf, 1 tank, send in Archangel, Karelia FTR and Art, All Russia, Caucus art/tank into W. Russia, then split the FTR between Caucus and Karelia? Bad thing about this is the Germans could force everything into one or both Caucus and Karelia and you would lose your FTRs, which would cripple Russia.  I guess the one Archangel inf could go to Karelia instead and then have both FTR in Karelia.  This would keep Germany off of England for the most part (forcing them to split the subs and possibly lose the French FTR in a battle.

      Option 2: Buy 6inf, 1 tank hit W. Russian and Ukraine (2art,4inf{5 if you send archangel}, 1 tank, 1FTR), (Art/3inf/3tank/1ftr) respectively.
      NCM out East: Leave status quo with exception of the two in Evengi?
      I’m looking for thoughts good or bad, not saying what the moves are…especially the buy, because while I would love to go 5inf/2art, I think the tank is needed more…

      By the way, Pearl Harbor will never fall now on J1 esp if you re-inforce with the Cruiser and sub from UK but why would you?  I guess this fixes the gripes about US losing it’s carrier fleet every game in 1st ed.  Looks like the Pacifc will hinge on how ballsy you get with UK (assuming your FTR in Egypt survives on G1)… I think this will be a UK1 standard if it does.

      unless you are both online at the same time, don’t you think NOT being on at the same time is what is causing the problem of the games?

      double negative……There’s my 440 on the SAT at work…(at least I can do math!)

    • RE: Make spring 1942 fully turn-based?

      @Gargantua:

      I don’t like it…

      I agree… I can understand Global to an extent how long turns can be(it shouldn’t take you more than 5 mins for a China,Anzac,France turn), but in '42?  Really?  R1 should take like 20mins (and most of that being Germany) because the other four powers really can’t do much off the start.  But for some piece of paper to determine what I should lose is BS…The only time it calls anything out in the book is the AA fire, where you have to specify what the AA is hitting (if you have a complement of FTR and BMB). Â

      If you are taking an hour for a round, either you are not familiar with '42 play or something else  :cry:

      @Variable:

      I can tell you from playing the game, don’t count on having a UK fleet around London by UK1. Luftwaffe has 6 fighters and a bomber…

      And by the rulebook for what was showing, that’s at least 2FTR, 1 BMR able to hit that poor old BB…and that’s not even factoring the SS…they have a term for this…surrounded. (or frak’d or F$&^'d).

    • RE: Factories on Islands?

      have you seen the map…they most likely HAVE the complex in India from the start…so they better pour money into it…and what you going to do, build a fleet right away for Germany to sink it?  The UK fleet is exposed on all sides now…I would love to see it work out, but based off the map and the lack of units in the SZ around it, you won’t see a fleet there till UK3 when America can show up on US3…and since it looks like India and Burma aren’t heavily defended from the get go (based off of not seeing a lot of words on their approximate lines {although it could say 10inf, and I wouldn’t know), a free complex for Japan is ALWAYS a terrible idea.

    • RE: Factories on Islands?

      How much does it change though with UK having the IC in India?  Africa will hold for sure, so now India just has to defend itself. (I can only assume that’s where the second IC is since half the card is covered).  UK may have less units out there, but it has at least a head start on builds and China as a meat shield (along with whatever survives as a fleet).
