      You are ok with using the carrier to take hits in combat. It’s the same as in defense - you are not required to take planes as hits before you take carriers even if the carrier is the only viable landing spot.

      I think my assumption about not required to use the carrier came from a time when i couldn’t - therr was a destroyer blocker between where i need my carrier to be for the landing of some aircraft. So I attacked the blocker and the target in same turn. The planes survived the attack, but the attack on the blocker failed - so carrier couldnt move to pick up. Bye bye planes.

      So i guess that doubles your point. I remember the small “gardens” and small cars in the UK. I remember actually being a little jealous of my host - he never had to spend a whole saturday doing yard work!

      Pretty much the same. I’m new, and play for fun. As long as it isnt affected by already rolled combats or the other sode has already moved - even then, i’m open to the idea.

      Thank you! I i knew in straight economic terms, it wasn’t good. But i was thinking i could take out the jap DD’s used to take mine out to even the odds, mostly using UK forces, which would also remove some of your blockers, lessing the TUV swing and adding to what was my intent: strategic placement - saving calcutta for a turn or two and take advantage of that reprieve. My plan was to be able to hold the carolines with the us/anzac force, and pressure sz 6, east asia, and the philipones. But after i saw how it looked after your move, wasn’t so sure it would work, or even matter if it did. you moved mostly like i had thought you would have, but once it happened, i realized how strong it was, much stronger than i had pictured in my head. Your plan is clearly better for that overall goal, with the much better odds against any counter attack. I think the tuv swing would have been worth it if i had done that.
      Wow. 2 big lessons in as many turns.

      I think there are Axis and Allies discord channels. I play via email or via forum on this site (see play board games or G40 League. As you are new, I would be wary of starting by playing in the League. That would be akin to learning to drive by reading a book, jumping into a double clutch 18 wheeler and taking a load cross country in the winter.

      TripleA is a computer program, available on github.

      Once you download the program, you can select the maps/games you’d like to play. On TripleA, Global Second Edition is what matches the box games you purchased. This is a free crowd funded program, and the program will allow you to do some things that the rule book doesn’t allow, but only some things.

      I really wanted to do that attack. But the survivors would have been easy prey for you in any of the available landing spots. Best to cut my losses short, as un short as they may be. Gonna need that G air to survive!

      Hard pressed to take Malaya on J1. Can take on J2, but don’t forget to prioritize the money islands for the money.

      Malaya factory can be difficult to hold. FIC is usually built first. From there, with the right NCM, you can go on to take Calcutta round 4-5.

      Have you looked up the Calcutta crush? General hangrenade and young grasshopper have some YouTube videos that might help. Not saying follow them exactly, but it’s a start.

      I lean towards fic J1, factory J2, and an overland push with an airfield in fic to help. Nabbing Calcutta j4-5 can mess with middle earth well

      Well - harder to keep from being captured by the allies. Harder than FIC. Building an IC can be done, but timing and allies moves is what would dictate when/if I would put a IC I Malaya. I do it sometimes, but not a ton. Its far away from Japan, so takes a bit to get the forces to capture and keep it; keep in mind it’s 3 SZ spaces from Queensland, 2 from india. As far as land spaces to India, it’s just as far as FIC.

      If the goal is to get pressure on Calcutta early, you can capture FIC on J1 with a single inf, IC on J2, plus reinforcements from Japan (one turn away, for transports or planes), and on turn J2,3, or 4 build an airfield.

      Malaya is 2 turns from Japan with a TT or plane, has one land territory connection so that can be used to block, deadzone, etc. Malaya also has 4 inf on it at start, with a BB off shore, while all Japan can reach it with is a inf and art from the one transport that can reach on J1.
