Didn’t say it was WOTCs fault that we have lives?   Except in that we paid for something that is broken.   If I wanted to MAKE a game, I would have done so.   I BOUGHT one.

Sigh, I broke my own rules for talking to you on the forums, once again you and your 4000 posts will merely default to your basic ideas, that LH and WOTC are our gods, and we must do their bidding, and I also forgot that my group has been playing AA since before you were born.  This isn’t an attack on you, just again you have a different viewpoint from mine about freetime.  I do not lock myself in my room with a 12pk of pepsi and play with myself to see what I can do to fix the game.   We get 8 hours off from the wifes/kids/responsibilities of the world and would like to crack a beer and see if we can usher in the 1000 year reich.   Not see how many more planes we need to add to the German setup to make it fun.

I have over 5000 posts, not 4000. I also have a life. I am a junior with 4 AP classes and a college class. I don’t have 12 hrs/day free time to play AA

No matter how smart the 20 playtesters of WOTC are, the collective brainpower of a couple hundred players each playing an average of a few games will always trump the playtesters’ experience.

exactly my point of why I wish AAA worked.  to balance this game as best as possible before too many people lose interest.

Well there are quite a few AA players that have wives/kids/jobs that can’t spend the time doing PBEM.   in the time it takes to reset the global board, I could have played 2 turns on AAA.

It usually costs Japan 6-7 inf and one turn. In return, those inf can never be used to defend China or Moscow and Japan has an empty Siberia in front of it

1 Turn is QUITE a big deal IMO

I really wish we could get some brainpower going to AAA so we could all play more games, faster, with different opponents.  I’d love to be wrong about this, but when you look at the ticky tack BS that is building with each release of the AA franchises, I’m losing all faith in LH and co.

I think you are inexperience because by your own admission you have only played 1 side of the game so far.

We’ve played 5 full games, rotating who has what sides etc.   So it’s not just a stuck in the rut way of thinking or anything.    Calvin describes a very passive Russia with regard to the siberian 18.

It’s the same thinking that doomed the OOB setup for pacific.  People are afraid to use planes as soakers, so there’s no way Japan will attack with 1 inf
and 2 planes….

Even if I lose 18 infantry as russia (57 IPCs) what is that going to cost Japan?  Time, Ground units that can’t be replaced quickly.

Axis wins happen as follows:

Passive UK player that lets IT actually get to insane IPCs
American player who buys too many BBs and B17s
UK player that builds a navy a piece at a time
Russian player that bites off more than it can chew by buying too many tanks, or Turtles too much with a reliance on fighters.

In other words, if you play against an inexperienced player, you have a shot as Axis.  Otherwise, this is nothing more than a choose your own adventure book.  They want you to read it, so you never really die.

short answer?  The game favors the allies.   You have to spread too thin as axis to defend everything the allies can do.   you have to hope that the allied players miss your weakest points.

18 russian infantry needs to be looked at.  we’re toying with as a house rule putting 9 groups of 2 infantry down throughout eastern russia, a return to the old AA setups.   That stack of 18 causes huge issues for the few japanese ground units there, yes they can easily be wiped out on J1, but that slows the japs down wayyy too much.  Of course i’m talking OOB setup, because 1) I don’t recognize the alpha setups until there is an official rulebook reprint and 2) I don’t want to spend 1/2 my life waiting on LH’s forums.

It’s simple.  2 of the Devs are gone missing, 1 is making a map editor again / thinking about porting to droids.

Veq has had a lovely p40-STYLE (lawyer speak) map sitting idle for 9 months now.  He is waiting on someone to help w/an e40-STYLE map, but has no drive as it will not WORK.

I think the axis, espically Japan, have it hard enouh and dosnt need to have its critical airforces taken away and given more land forces. Until the “alpha scenario” is made official, we’ll continue to use the set-up we have.

to beat a dead horse,  none of these changes are “official” until the game is reprinted.  Board games don’t have errata.  This isn’t M:TG.    Having played the Alpha setup now 2x in the G40 game, the only way to balance this game is going to be on a per group basis, as one setup fix won’t do it.

As an upset consumer, make your point to WOTC. They don’t read this forum. This is a forum for players. You may have to call them, email them, or write them an angry letter. But insulting fellow players on an internet forum will not help anything.

As you are new here I’ll cut you some slack.   Go to the p40 forums.  read about all the complaining that myself and others did to WOTC to FINALLY get them to mail out 6 Tac Bombers.    I’m now apathetic to the cause, since nothing was learned by WOTC/LH with the p40 screwups.

Really? Okay, what is your list of problems with E40?

As I’m not going to bother arguing w/you (see previous discussion where I pointed out you live w/your parents and are still wet behind the ears)  I’ll give you an easy one for E40….why doesn’t the ocean color match P40?

I should not have to print out extra pages to staple into the rulebook, make new stickers to put on top of the setup chart, use a marker to correctly draw sea zone lines…

I seriously considered printing off the gameboard instead of buying it.   I have such a thing that I use as my travel AA50.  But silly me I supported the company and bought it, wanting to have something that wasn’t put together piecemeal…

Oh wait, that’s what I’m going to have to do w/G40, P40 and perhaps E40 (should someone come up w/a J3IC style move for it)

If i’m being “zealous” or testy as it were, consider I’ve been choking on the lemon that is P40 since release.    Have dealt with the forum trolls and fanboys since then who have said “you are crazy, J1 attack is suicide…”

those same people BLINDLY defend LH and G40/E40.

as for being “part of the solution”

In my society, I exchange money for goods and services.  I go to a restaurant and pay to have someone else cook the meal, bring it to me, and clean up…I don’t expect to be directed to the kitchen by the hostess.

If WOTC/HASBRO/LH wants to put me on the payroll, I’m all for doing the job that should have been done initially.   But when I’m a consumer, I shouldn’t be expected to FIX the problems.
