RE: India looks great! (no double hump)posted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
Except it looks like MODERN India, not the India of 1940 which included what is now Pakistan - which seems to have been eaten here by Persia and Afghanistan.
A&A games are still being produced from 21st century maps. Don’t you Americans have anything older?
Calm down. Would you rather not have the game?

Or if for some ungodly mistake UK (pacific) takes tons of territories and goes off the IPC chart. :-o

Sorry if this has been answered already, but I had a couple of questions about the pictures of the map and playing pieces. I noticed on the countersheet with national roundels the British have their normal air force roundels plus 2 Union Jack roundels that seem to be slightly larger. What are those for?
Also, on South America, just North of Brazil, there are 3 roundels on the map - one British, one French, and one that appears to be Czechoslovakian. Is that supposed to be a Czech colony???
Bloody hell, don’t you Americans get taught in Geography these dates? That colony is Dutch! (currently the country of Surinam).
1. You assume he’s American.
2. Your sentence doesn’t really make sense. -

Is France a seperate player or is it American controlled? It would make sense to be British controlled.

I dunno about that… if it doesn’t break the game, I might forget the whole partial UK thing… thats just annoying.

Sounds exciting. Did British control of Malta slow the Italians down any?

RE: In your opinion, what is strategically your favorite army to play and why?posted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
After independence, the troops that fought for Japan were regarded as freedom fighters(which I don’t have a problem with per se, since they thought Japan would free India) and given good pension, but Indian troops who fought for the British are not
Wouldn’t that make you angry with the UK, or the Indian government then, not Japan?
Indian gov’t yes; not UK.
I am about 40% Indian (along with 45% German, 10% British, and 5% Scottish) and I cannot see how you would blame the Indian government as GB was pulling the strings all of WWII. That being said, I am an American and I support GB.

I don’t think a German-Jap attack on Western USA makes much sense either. Germany could attack Eastern USA in half the time it would take just to set up on Australia…

RE: USA Open ideasposted in Axis & Allies Spring 1942 Edition
Yea after 2 test games we decided to change that to only the 10 IPCs part. When I normally play the best 2 people play Axis so the Allies get beaten up pretty badly.

Recently bought 1942…posted in Axis & Allies Spring 1942 Edition
Am I missing pieces? Or do some factions start with more stuff than others (US has ~4 Aircraft Carriers I believe, Russia has 2)?
Also, is there somewhere I can print a larger map for battles (specifically Eastern Europe and Africa) and IPCs?
Thanks

RE: USA Open ideasposted in Axis & Allies Spring 1942 Edition
One house rule I play with is Colonial Empire. Basically, on the first turn only, Britian can build an industrial Complex in one spot for the cost of 10 IPCs that can produce it’s units immediately that turn on these territories–
India
South Africa
Australia
Eastern CanadaMaybe it’s unbalanced, but Britain is in a position to be immediately screwed by Germany in Africa and Japan in Asia/Australia.
This would help the USA by making it easier for Britain to defend a front, leaving the US capable to fight on the other Theater or double efforts on that front.
Thoughts?

Done on Barnes and Noble.
4/5 Stars. Had to be honest, lack of paper IPCs and tech rolls makes the game meh.

RE: Axis Strategiesposted in Axis & Allies Spring 1942 Edition
My second question is, is there an effective way for Germany to go about a Kill Britain First strategy? I was experimenting with this in my mind, and wondered if it would be viable to build transports bridging Germany with Britain, and investing in naval protection for it, bringing up the Mediterranean Battleship and the northern fleet to protect them also. With Germany’s economic advantage, it seems to me that they could succeed in destroying Britain, especially if you’re stealing their IPC’s in Africa. Are there any thoughts on a viable Kill Britain first strategy?
Germany can swiftly overrun Africa if the US response is weak/Germany gets multiple transports. Japan is also in a position to take India or Australia + NZ swiftly, but I don’t think it’s possible for the Axis to invade GB and win. Japan is too isolated and has to deal with the US superior IPC collection and possible Russian aggression if Germany allows Russia to go unchecked. Apart from ridiculous luck, the only plausible way for Axis to kill Britian is if Germany kills Africa and Japan takes India before the US response. Germany would need a lot of Battleships and Cruisers for shore bombardment and I don’t see how they could amass enough IPCs while leaving Russia alone. But this is coming from a novice at 1942 (I just bought 1942 recently, been playing A&A on my computer for years)

RE: New G1 Move - what do you think?posted in Axis & Allies Spring 1942 Edition
It might stall the USA for a turn but why give Britain a better chance of survival?
