CC is right, the game is basically over. although it is possible for the allies to reurn to glory. i was playing a game where the german player did sealion on G2 after taking karelia. i pupmed all my funding into holding Russia. while the Brits took their trannie from canada and went island hopping in the pacific. by the time i sent the americans over to attak the UK. the british troops had raised their IPC level to 51. once i lost the 2 troops on the trannie, i went and picked up the afican troops and the india troops later. although i will admit i had some outstandingly lucky rolls.

ok where do you get your brit INF from for the attack on kwangtung? then only place you could get them is india via trannie. that leaves india open for the walk-in. its a good idea, but you might want to wait until UK2 and bring up the INF from Australia first.

even on computer, the americans arent that dumb. ive sent japan in several times and always get kicked out of canada. all i can ever hold for more than my turn is Alaska.

RE: Best way to kill americaposted in Axis & Allies Classic
sorry, but only an idiot american player wouldnt try and kill the gremans in canada if they were there alone. if you could time it with a japanese assault on alaska & W/Can if you can split the US forces then you might stand a chance, but otherwise, youre doomed

RR is Russian Restricted. the russian player cant attack on the first turn, giving the german player a little room to breath, and the japanese a chance to get some defense on the mainland.

this is assuming the trannies are sitting in the UKSZ before they’re loaded, so the brit carrier would have to be somwhere else. if the brits have a carrier, build the trannies from S/EUR

Conquering the USposted in Axis & Allies Classic
i was thinking, every time ive seen the axis win, its either been by IPC or by taking Russia/UK. has anyone ever really gone after the US? more than alaska/hawaii/etc. it seems that the US is constantly building trannies/fighters to send to UK or a navy to fight japan. Heres an idea, the German player builds its trannie fleet as though it was attacking the UK, it loads the INF on from W/Eur and jumps them over to the east coast. even a decent US player doesnt really coinsider that as much of a threat and you could probably catch him off guard. then just buy 2-3 inf a turn there to hold it from any possible counter attack.

take new zeland from the start, jsut throw an INF on it. but you might want to wait a bit on Austrailia, until after youve secured youre position on the mainland and can defend it. then just send the bomber down (assuming you still have it) and an inf or two.

Kidhorn’s got a nice idea, but you’d have to tweak it to make it work. how about this
if you get three 6’s on your tech roles, you can either roll again and get 3 random techs (luck of the dice), or you can recieve 1 tech of you choosing. if you get more than three 6’s, every 2 more can be traded for one auto-pick tech.
ive been exploring this with my friend, but we rarely buy more than 6 dice at a time. if you buy anymore than than (say you save you $ for a turn), you should raise the # of 6’s you’d need.

RE: Japanese Naval Feintposted in Axis & Allies Classic
the main point in taking hawaii or alaska is to give the US that much less $$$. an often overlooked aspect of taking american land is SBR’s against the W/US. this can be done from alaska, hawaii, midway, etc. if Japan can get one or two bombers within range, the odds of getting shot down is minimal, and it helps if you have heavy bombers.

read the link above, it solves most of the bugs ive been working out since i posted this

RE: Normandy from USposted in Axis & Allies Classic
all the games ive played, the trannies have been built in the UK. the germans have never sent more than 1 or 2 fighters after them at a time. with enough cash you can slowly kill the german fighters. my games have the US devoting all $ to the pacific. its works ok. this way the UK can shoot all its fighters over beforehand

Normandy from USposted in Axis & Allies Classic
has anyone ever considered launching a W/Eur invasion from the E/US? i was trying to figure out a way that you could build up your trannies safe from German Fighters, and this suddenly poped into my head. The US builds the trannies on the east coast, and some INF, or armor or whatever. then launches their trannies to W/Eur. meanwhile the brits have been building a massive fighter armada, which they use to weaken the W/Eur forces before the US attack. if they want, the UK could build a carrier the turn before and land fighters on it to protect the trannies, so units can be ferried later from UK to reinforce the Western front

RE: Russian AA guns?posted in Axis & Allies Classic
i like the america AA idea, but instead of shipping it to finland and beginning the long walk, why not move it to alaska then ship it across to siberia?, then once you capture manchuria, you can move it in there. then the US could spend the 5 IPC’s (god knows it has enough) and re-arm the West US if it wanted to

RE: Country specific rulesposted in House Rules
i like CC’s idea. UK is too weak. you might try a trannie defense boost for the destroyer protection from america.

RE: Simultaneous A&Aposted in House Rules
the ship vs plane would work just like a border clash. the troops hit at the border, then any survivors proceed into the planned attack zone to fight

RE: Ultralight Paintball Ideaposted in Other Games
if you could get one, you might try an “Auto-Gyro”. for those of you who dont know what one is, watch the Bond movie “You Only Live Twice” and look for Little Nelly. she’s easy to spot. its basically a mini helocopter with an overhead blade for lift and a smaller rear facing blade for propulsion. it’d could be used to hover or something. and would probably be eaiser to control.

Simultaneous A&Aposted in House Rules
the ROTC class at my high school has a version of RISK on one of their commander’s computers where all the attack data is input simultaneously. the teams write down their troop movements and hand them in to a moderator. it can lead to some pretty cool battles, border skirmishes, walk-in’s etc. wondering if anyone thought this might work for A&A. i can get more details if needed.

RE: A&A Generalsposted in House Rules
i got the other 4 names off the A&A PC game’s 5 star level, except Patton was a 4 star. but the UK said MONTGOMERY and i really dont know anything about himor the other 2 on there, and i figured churchill was more of a recognizable name.
i think i like Guerrilla Guy’s idea of the amphib bonus for the japanese, never really crossed my mind before. i thought about the kamikaze thing, but couldnt really come up witha fair way for it to work, closest thing i got to was for every 3 jap fighters destroyed at sea, one gets a kamikaze, or something along those lines.
