    • RE: Is there an errata (sp?) out for Europe and or Global yet?

      @calvinhobbesliker:

      FYI, “errata” is plural, so you wouldn’t say “a errata.”

      The reason there is none is because Larry and others are working on a new setup/rules that will make the Global Game more balanced.

      I believe technically, as ‘errata’ starts with a vowel, if anything, it would be ‘an errata’, like ‘an error’ rather than, ‘a mistake’.

      Because of the open admission of the major problems and hence major fixes needed for these games, we’ve likely opened pandora’s box of never believing it to be fixed.  I see an Alpha+47 coming…

    • RE: US activating Brazil …

      @Krieghund:

      @dinosaur:

      I just figured they can’t act as an Allied country, activating neytrals, until they are officially at war, right?

      Correct.

      How does this jive with this section of the Pacific FAQ as Brazil is a Pro-Allies country, hence activation does not involve combat as noted below?

      "Special Comments and Clarifications Related to Neutral Powers The United States begins the game neutral and is initially not considered part of the Allies, though it does have Allied sympathies…
      …In addition to these restrictions, when not at war the United States may not attack neutral territories."

      a. it’s Pacific and Europe is different… deal with it?
      b. since it’s not considered part of the Allies until the end of round 3, it would actually require combat for the US to activate Brazil, and this is not allowed?
      or 3.  something else?

      Had a scrap in our last game about this.  We have usually allowed this with both USSR and USA, but tonight the Axis didn’t want to. Someone said they read around here it was ok for USSR and so it should apply cross-wise, but we couldn’t find that post or errata as yet.

      man, I’m out of it for a little while and this alpha setup gets these delusions of grandeur… it’s really hard to deny that looks like there was no testing of this before it was released with all the changes…  dang…!

    • RE: Historically Accurate Gripe

      @rockrobinoff:

      My major gripe with those who gripe about history, is that A&A is simply not a WW2 simulator, but a board game with a WW2 theme. One cannot point to one aspect, or even several, and claim those are the most important a-historic aspects to the game, when you have things like perfect information (you can see where all the guys are), planes that cannot ditch in the ocean, lack of logistical concerns, and… factories in captured territories raising infantry?? None of that “makes sense” in the context of a WW2 simulator, but makes perfect sense in the context of the great boardgame that is Axis and Allies.

      because factories making infantry is such a believable concept anyway… like jar jar binks wasn’t believable, but lightsabers and ewoks, those are foregone conclusions… :roll: :-o :wink:

      • Usa would have been crippled if the Aircraft carriers were in Pearl Harbor at the time of the bombing

      FDR knew the attack was coming, so no carriers there.  :-)

      and FDR was in on it planning with the japanese so he could fight hitler.  AHA!

      @aethervox:

      I hope it wasn’t my earlier postings titled ‘Design Flaws’ that got this thread on historical accuracy going.

      No, it wasn’t.

    • RE: Things that i may not agree with you Krieghund

      I’m not Krieg, but if I could try and help answer a couple of your issues, based on my readings of the rules and Krieg’s answers and FAQs entries.
      @MEGAEINSTEIN:

      1 when London is captured UK recieves no income. I think that this is false. UK still recieves pacific income

      2 UK units from pacific cannot take control of europe uk territories when London is controled by the axis - this is a big mess and i don´t have an answer. It seems that for example USA can held a UK territory in Europe when london is captured, so why the UK pacific units cannot do the same?

      3 UK europe and Pacific work out as if they were two different power - but R&D works simultaneous for both, but can in same turn be two developmnets, one from pacific income and other from european income?

      5 if i understood right, you said that a japanese fighter can fly over a british territory even if Japan and Uk are not at war with each other because they are both at war with someone else. I do not agree. In my opinion when Japan is not at war with UK, they are neutral to each other and so a japanese flighter cannot fly over a UK territory.

      1-UK is split into 2 parts only in terms of income collection and purchases/placement.  For everything else these 2 parts act as one UK.  All UK territories on the Europe boards count for London spending and all on the Pacific count for Calcutta spending.  The units purchased with these separate incomes must be placed at ICs on their respective boards.

      2-UK Pacific units can liberate UK Europe territories because they all UK, not UKE or UKP.  BUT, the territories on the Europe boards income goes to London and if it is captured, these incomes are not collected by UK at all.

      5-Neither the UK or Japan can fly over each other’s territory unless they are at war.  The fly-over would be an act of war.

    • RE: Question to Krieghund

      calvin’s right, only if the Axis take the French territories can the UK (or other allies) then take them and can gain their income, until Paris is liberated; then they revert to French control.

      There are rules for Free French forces, those are all the French pieces on the board. :roll:

    • RE: UK under threat of Sealion: Is it nice to do, when playing with 4-5 people?

      If the other players are brand new, an early Sea Lion may put them off from playing again and so sure, take a shot at something else a couple times.  After they get into it, they still may not think Sea Lion and you can hit them with it at that point.

      well, at least they didn’t loose all the molds and forget who you were…  They will be well worth the wait, I’m sure.

      Any chance that they had a set done up in color for you to take back and display on the website for the rabid fans who want to preorder… or the rest of us…  :roll: (like any of us aren’t rabid about these)

    • RE: I've balanced Global, now 50/50 wins

      Why not just make the USSR its own side altogether.  Aside from taking money from the Allies, that’s about what they were…

      Just let them attack from R1 and their goal is to take Berlin and Rome.  If they have those at the end of a round, they win.

    • RE: AAG40 FAQ

      @Krieghund:

      @LuckyDay:

      If Convoy Raiding is mandatory, then you saying that a German sub off the coast of the US is a declaration of war against the US, or ie, that Germany is not allowed to be in that sea zone because it would result in a declaration of war?  Same would go for Japan being off the coast of Malaya then…?

      Actions don’t result in declarations of war - declarations of war allow actions.  If Germany is not at war with the US, a German sub off the US coast does nothing, as powers must be at war in order to conduct convoy raids.

      @LuckyDay:

      I see it mentioned in the P40 FAQ, but I may be missing it in the E40 rulebook, or at least spelled out, but the US is not allowed to land ground units or fly air units in/over the USSR prior to being at war with the Axis, correct?

      Correct.  It’s in the sidebar on page 15.

      So, Convoy Raiding is then just mandatory when at war, that I’m good with.  Thank you!
      And thank you also for the 2nd answer as well.  The US was attempting to block me from attacking the USSR by telling me they could land north of Japan, and I just wasn’t finding it in the rules.  Much obliged sir!

    • RE: Table Tactics New Product Release

      My only complaint from what I’ve seen of the new TT stuff is more towards Fairplay; how much do these pieces weigh?  30 pieces somehow comes to 9.50 for S/H from a warehouse via the post office?! or $20 via UPS or whatnot?!  It’s like paying twice for one set (doesn’t get that much better for buying a bunch either, unless I get $125 worth, which would be great, but dang…)  I may actually drive up to Flint to get these and save the shipping… or better yet, Jack, are you in Michigan?  Can I get some straight from you and give you the whole cut of money?

      All I know is that these will be shipping soon.  I have a guarantee that they will be out before Christmas from the factory.  I will have no more information until I get back from China on the 18th.  I am going over myself tomorrow.

      Wahoo! it’s the 19th…. The answer times, she comes!

    • RE: Will Larry's changes be official?

      to throw my two cents in…  IF they reprint these games, and there is no guarantee of that, they’d likely put in the changes, as they’d send us less pieces and charge the same amount.

      Personally, for the Pacific map, the alpha setup seems to bring balance closer, though it removes too many of the Jap teeth IMO, and for world, makes the Axis even less likely to win.  Though the G40 was closer to balance anyhow to start with…  alas…
