      @Caesar:

      You can’t liberate and then attack the same zombie territory.

      What do you want to say?

      It is technically impossible to do that during the same turn:
      Combat ends in step 8 and the territory is liberated in step 9 of the General Combat Sequence.
      You never liberate territories during combat steps 3-8.

      Of course you may attack zombies present in the liberated territory during the next turn.

      @P@nther:

      @Veqryn:

      P@nther,
      Actually the LHTR Heavy Bombers option only gives +1 to total SBR damage on maps where the xml is configured in a certain way.
      In Global 1940, it does NOT give any bonus.

      Therefore, it is fully rules compliant.
      …

      Ah, good to know, thanks for the update!
      How is it in AA50-ww2v3?

      I tested it myself and found out that it is wrong in ww2v3 (AA50) regarding SBR.
      There “1” is added to the best die.
      It should be “take the best die” only.

      @captain:

      Yes the sub can still cause disruption  , but if a German sub is there then Russia doesn’t get the 5 pu bonus NO money because there is a warship in 125.

      Correct, but then UK move a destroyer there, and then we have the ball going on……

      @Veqryn:

      rulebook says Mexico and Panama connect, when I believe it really means Mexico and East Mexico connect.

      Obviously you’re right.

      @Veqryn:

      also, can factories be placed on islands?

      Yes, as long as the PU-value is at least 1.

      My main problems with the 41 pieces are the transports/allied subs. Maybe it’s just my copy, but they look sort of warped (transports) or they don’t sit evenly on a flat surface (subs).

      As Djensen did with the 1942 2E game, I thought I would field a list of any issues players can find that may need to be addressed and hopefully corrected in any future print runs. So here goes…

      Obviously, the biggest mistake so far is that the National Production track on the game board states 15 IPCs for the US when it should in fact be 17.

      Other things I noticed in the rulebook:

      The set up chart for the US states for sea zone 42 “carrying 2 Fighters”. This is odd and should clearly have been omitted or just shortened to “2 Fighters”. There was no need for the word ‘carrying’.

      Page 11 under combat movement examples shows a German Artillery unit invading a Soviet territory along with some other German units. As we all know, there is no Artillery in this game. A small thing I know, but new players may get confused.

      Page 13 shows a German Tank blitzing in two diagrams. The first one (on the left) is incorrect as it shows that although there is a movement arrow leading the Tank out of the Caucasus territory, there should not be a second arrow leading out of Caucaus (as the Tank has only just entered the territory). The second diagram is correct. Â

      Page 22 under Industrial Complexes. The first instance of the words (Silhoutette printed on map) should be removed as these words are already printed just underneath in the very spot where you would expect to see them. That’s my impression anyway…

      Page 2, third paragraph. Albeit a small thing, it would be nice if the word allies could start with a capital ‘a’ (Allies as opposed to allies).

      Is there anything else people would like to add? Thanks for reading.

      @Lozmoid:

      Hey guys, I am trying to put together a list of notes for Pacific 1940 for ease of gameplay purposes, and I’m currently revising the Conduct Combat phase. I think the step sequence for this phase should like something like:

      **1. Enemy scrambles Fighters/Tactical Bombers

      2. Enemy announces Kamikaze attacks (Japan only)

      3. Strategic Bombing Raids

      4. Amphibious Assaults**

      5. General Combat

      Do I have that all down correctly? Is there anything I’ve forgotten? Just want to make sure everything’s covered.

      Any help would be very much appreciated.

      It would be simpler to identify (4) as all naval combat, as that will need to preceed any amphibious assault to clear a seazone.  Additionally, as amphibious assaults can be paired with a overland assault, so it makes more sense for (5) to be all land combat.

      However, it is completely up to the player as to how they run combats, as they may want to base retreat patterns on the results of a single battle, which they may want to run first, and that is always the attackers prerogative (assuming if it’s an amphib, they run the naval combat in that seazone first), so (4) and (5) can be switched around in any order.

      Also, per the letter of the rules, 1 and 2 occur at the end of the combat move phase after attacker moves are finalized - not at the beginning of the combat phase.

      Axis and Allies was meant to be played by MEN, not MACHINES!

      An AI intelligent enough, could become Artificial.  I mean, if it knows when to rock out a good gamble, that could be dangerous! :P

      For the record, I don’t “look” ahead in most of my games, other than for the obvious - “Oh they are going to take a shot at the capital” kind of stuff.  If the AI just did what it had to do to get it’s NO’s, and focus on the economics, it would be deadly enough.

      Perhaps, to make trucks a bit more vulnerable, is make trucks susceptible to raids from enemy fighters and tac bombers. That way, there would be a way to counter the use of trucks, and force players to use them more sparingly. This would make sure that tanks are still being purchased. It might even be enough to eliminate mechanized all together as well.

      MIDDLE EAST TERRITORIES Cont…

      The territories of the Middle East consist of independent countries that provide oil and other resources to the Allies. During the game, Germany and Italy have a chance to control this oil (and the IPCs) by taking over these territories. They are captured or liberated like any other land territory, but the IPCs of this region are tracked differently. The Allied powers may occupy these territories in order to defend them from Axis capture, but they can never take control of these territories for themselves. In fact, the United Kingdom player begins the game with one Infantry in Lebanon-Syria, but does not gain the IPCs generated by this territory.

      Whenever Germany or Italy captures a Middle East territory, move their national control marker (either German or Italian) along the track of the lower ‘Middle East Territories’ section of the National Production Chart (NPC), according to the value of the territory just captured. The upper part of the chart is unaffected.

      As per the normal rules for the Axis Minors; if the AM capture a Middle East territory, place a German national control marker on the Middle East Territories section of the NPC, according to the value of the territory just captured.

      Germany and Italy may never build Naval Bases or Industrial Complexes on a Middle East territory. However, Air Bases are allowed.

      There are eight positions on the Middle East Territories track of the NPC chart. During their Collect Income phase, the German and/or Italian player may collect their IPC income, according to their respective IPC level, directly from the Allied players - not from the bank. The Allies must decide who will pay Germany and/or Italy. The costs may be spread out among the three Allied powers, or one power may bear the burden. If the Allies are unable to decide to pays, the Axis powers will choose.

      For Example: In the chart below, Germany controls 3 IPCs and Italy controls 2 IPCs. During Germany’s Collect Income phase, he/she will collect 3 IPCs from the Allied powers. During Italy’s Collect Income phase, he/she will collect 2 IPCs from the Allied powers.

      INDUSTRIAL COMPLEXES

      Minor IC COST: 8 UPGRADE COST: 7

      Can produce: Militia, Infantry, Artillery, Anti Aircraft Guns, Fighters, Transports, Submarines, and Destroyers

      Major IC  COST: 15

      Can produce: ALL OF THE ABOVE PLUS: Tanks, Bombers, Cruisers, Aircraft Carriers and Battleships

      An Industrial Complex (IC) can be built on any territory that your Power has controlled since the start of your turn. Minor ICs may only be built on a territory with a value of 1 IPC or more. Major ICs must be built on a territory with a value of 3 IPC or more. There is a limit of one IC per territory. The cost to upgrade a Minor IC into a Major IC is 7 IPCs.

      Newly purchased land and air units must be placed into the territory with the IC. Sea units can only be placed into a sea zone adjacent to the territory with the IC, so long as there is a Naval Base on the territory coastline that touches the sea zone.

      For example, the IC in the territory of North Italy is adjacent to two sea zones; SZ 27 and SZ 28. However, as the Naval Base in North Italy is sitting on the coastline that touches SZ 27, newly purchased naval units can only be placed into SZ 27. If the player controlling Italy bought another Naval Base and placed it on the coastline touching SZ 28, then he/she would be able to place new naval units into SZ 28 as well.
