RE: Failed ambhib. assault what happens to the transports.posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
So, this battle ended with SZ 6 cleared, 1 wounded US battleship and four fully loaded US transports sitting in the sea zone by Iwo Jima, and 3 angry Japanese fighters sitting on an air base on Japan. Can you guess what Japan did on their next turn?
LOL Ouch! That is beautiful. :-)

RE: Carrier Mobilizationposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
It is my understanding that Submarines may ALWAYS submerge as long as there isn’t an opposing Destroyer involved in the battle. I have never heard of Subs having to undergo one combat round first; must be a house rule?

RE: Axis and Allies Pacific 1940 2nd Edition ( AAP40.2) FAQ/questionposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I’m not sure about something: under Unit Profiles in the rulebook, it mentions that Minor ICs can be upgraded to Major ones but it doesn’t specfically state (as far as I can tell) exactly when this happens. Now, I assume you pay for the upgrade during the Purchase & Repair Units phase, and then the upgrade becomes effective during the Mobilize New Units phase - is this right?
I read somewhere that Minor ICs being upgraded this turn can’t produce more than 3 new units until your next turn. This is where I am confused because I had guessed that the upgrade took place immediately (in line with any repairs that may have been made). Therefore, am I right in thinking that the correct process would be to place a Major IC in the Mobilization Zone, and then replace the Minor IC with it at the end of the Mobilze New Units phase?
Thank you very much.

RE: Piece countposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Hi knp7765, thanks for your reply and no worries about the timing; I’m always grateful for any feedback. I didn’t realise about the US Tac Bombers and Mechs, and I am glad I got 9 of each. I have contemplated contacting WotC for the extra Japanese Sub, but unless it will severely impact the game I think I’ll leave it. Sorry, I didn’t take note of the serial number on the bags - I never even realised there was a serial number. It’s a real shame about the 2 UK Carriers and I guess I can’t hold WotC accountable for that. I always count my game pieces too and always make a full invetory.

Thank you very much for your answers, Krieg. :-) Also, was I correct in my initial assessment of the Round 1 placement of ICs (couple of posts above)?

RE: Axis and Allies Pacific 1940 2nd Edition ( AAP40.2) FAQ/questionposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
In addition to the post above, I have a couple of extra questions that I would also appreciate answering by Krieg or one of the rules deputies:
1 - Pages 4 & 7 of the Pacific 1940 SE Rulebook mention a ‘Research & Development Chart’ as a specific item in the game’s inventory. I received no such chart in my copy of the game. Am I missing something here or is this chart just the one printed in the manual under the Global Rules section?
2 - Pages 8 & 35 of the Rulebook mention the ‘Yukon Territory’ and ‘British Columbia’. These territories do not exist on the new map, so I take it this was just a misprint?
3 - I got 2 UK Aircraft Carriers in my copy of the game, was I supposed to get 4?
Thank you all very much indeed.

RE: G40.2 Inventory Listposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Hi guys, I recently picked up my copy of Pacific 1940 SE and wanted to compare the contents to the link to mediafire earlier, but the site seems to be down at the moment. Anyway, this is the combat unit piece count I recieved in the box:
Japan
Infantry - 40
Mech Infantry - 9
Artillery - 12
Tank - 12
AA Artillery - 8
Fighter - 16
Tac Bomber - 9
Strat Bomber - 8
Tansport - 12
Submarine - 11
Destroyer - 13
Cruiser - 8
Aircraft Carrier - 8
Battleship - 8TOTAL - 174
United Kingdom
Infantry - 20
Mech Infantry - 6
Artillery - 6
Tank - 8
AA Artillery - 8
Fighter - 8
Tac Bomber - 6
Strat Bomber - 6
Tansport - 6
Submarine - 6
Destroyer - 6
Cruiser - 4
Aircraft Carrier - 2
Battleship - 4TOTAL - 96
United States
Infantry - 20
Mech Infantry - 9
Artillery - 6
Tank - 6
AA Artillery - 8
Fighter - 8
Tac Bomber - 9
Strat Bomber - 6
Tansport - 6
Submarine - 6
Destroyer - 6
Cruiser - 4
Aircraft Carrier - 4
Battleship - 4TOTAL -
ANZAC
Infantry - 20
Mech Infantry - 6
Artillery - 6
Tank - 8
AA Artillery - 8
Fighter - 8
Tac Bomber - 6
Strat Bomber - 6
Tansport - 6
Submarine - 6
Destroyer - 6
Cruiser - 4
Aircraft Carrier - 4
Battleship - 4TOTAL - 98
China
Infantry - 30
GRAND TOTAL - 500
My thoughts: I think the Japanese should have recieved 12 Submarines, not 11, and 12 Destroyers, not 13. This would still have resulted in a total of 174 pieces for Japan.
I think the United Kingdom should have recieved 4 Aircraft Carriers, not 2. However, this would put the UK’s total piece count at 98 (same as ANZAC, which incidentally did get 4 Aircraft Carriers). And therefore, the grand total of pieces would have then stood at 502, not 500.
I believe something went wrong somewhere… Did anyone esle get 8 Japanese Cruisers, Aircraft Carriers and Battleships? Seems like an awful lot to me. Perhaps 6 of each would have been more appropriate…?
I would be extremely grateful for any comments or feedback from people to help me know where I stand. At the moment I’m thinking of contacting WotC in order to try and obtain those 2 extra UK Aircraft Carriers.
What did the rest of you get?
Many thanks in advance

RE: Axis and Allies Pacific 1940 2nd Edition ( AAP40.2) FAQ/questionposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Thanks Wittmann! Yes, I got my copy the other day and have just set it up for the 1st time and am just looking at it for now. The 1st thing I was wondering was, where can all the powers build Industrial Complexes! It would seem that the only places where they can be built at the BEGINNING of the game, i.e. Round 1 - are as follows:
Major IC
Japan - Korea
United Kingdom - Kwangtung, Malaya
United States -
ANZAC -
China -Minor IC
Japan - Korea (may upgrade) & Manchuria, Shantung, Kiangsu (but may not upgrade due to original Chinese ownership of said territories)
United Kingdom - Kwangtung, Malaya (may upgrade)
United States - Alaska, Mexico (but may not upgrade due to territory IPC value limit)
ANZAC - Queensland (but may not upgrade due to territory IPC value limit)
China -Also, ANZAC may not upgrade the Minor IC in New South Wales due to territory IPC value limit.
Did I get all that right?
Thank you!

RE: Axis and Allies Pacific 1940 2nd Edition ( AAP40.2) FAQ/questionposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I don’t know if this has come up before, but are the Japanese-controlled Chinese territories (printed on the map) treated as original Japanese territories for the purposes of building ICs? If so, is this mentioned specifically anywhere in the rulebook?
In other words, can Japan build a Major IC in Manchuria and a Minor IC in Shangtung?
Thank you.

RE: TrippleA v. BattleMapposted in TripleA Support
It’s got nothing to do with my clicking. Say it’s my turn and I am the attacker: I click on the embattled territory and the combat sequence begins immediately. Within 1 or 2 seconds, all the attacking units have fired (AI selects casualties), then all defending units fire back. I am then required to select casualties of my own, I do this and then click to proceed to the 2nd combat round. The sentence in bold is where I’m finding things to move too fast to take in. Is there any way to slow it down? I cannot easily see which units have scored hits because all the dice are thrown simultaneously.

RE: TrippleA v. BattleMapposted in TripleA Support
Thanks, Veqryn. Sorry if I wasn’t being clear. I meant that the way the dice results and casualties are shown - it all happens within split seconds and then disappears and moves on to the next step. It just happens a bit too fast for me to take in… do you know what I mean?
