      I don’t know as I would ever think to use ART how you are saying.  ART is an offensive unit.  It has the same defence as INF so why spend the extra IPC to have a glorified buffer unit?

      ART pays for it self when its on the advance escorting INF.  When you employ it as a defensive unit you are making an econimic pit fall for your self.

      I agree 100% with you LT.  Jen, I also agree with you that art should be used as a “breakout manuver”.  Especially as Russia when I use art I usually hold it back a round or two to make sure I have plenty of inf to protect the art and arm with.  Then, about R3 or so I start taking some territory with it.  Even though its not a very costly offensive unit, I still want to protect it as much as possible.  Russia especially doesn’t have enough resources to waste even 1 IPC.  Just in my opinion.  Thanks.

      You could try MySpace. Right now I’m just gathering aquaintences and my brother to recruit gamers. I’d like to eventually build an informal f2f club with people I know. It sounds crappy but I hate playing ‘pick-up’ games at the hobby shop although ‘friend-of-a-friend’s’ doesn’t bother me.

      Another way to get players is to get people you know who play other games, and intro them to A&A. Back in the the day a group of us were playing Starcraft or Starfleet on the Sega Gennesis and I had a copy of A&A and intro’d it. Since then just about everyone who played still plays. Now we’re just grown-up and spread all over the country.

      The group me and my bro are looking to start has a bunch of Magic players and people who like Settlers, AD&D, etc.

      It’s just my opinion but that’s the best way to go. If you have an A&A classic game  (I have two) you can use that to train noobs. I’d suggest going for a monthly schedule too. My friends are all busy with work, kids, etc. and one Sunday or Saturday a month is do-able.

      I eventually plan to make a Myspace site for our group so we can keep track of everything and keep in touch.

      I found that sending men in the baltic sea in AAE was a faster way to send troops out to the front which it did also i some how took leningrad on 1st turn and he was pissed because men in russia and belorussia had a choice and they had to retreat and keep a few men there. So making a bit of a navy for germany can be profitable if the russian rolls are “5’s”

      I guess Sealion isn’t the best idea.  Germany would have to do all the work by him/her self.

      Going at the US would be better both Japan and Germany could work together and like Jen said who would think that was going to happen.

      I disapprove of this strategy.  However, later on in the game, landing 2 transports in western canada usually makes the US way overbuild on ground forces out of panic.

      Precisely why the US should never build in E. USA for transport to Europe/Africa, but should build in W. USA and move through Canada.  Now if the Japanese drop a few guys in Alaska you are in absolutely no threat as America.

      The problem I find with AA Guns are they are double edged swords.  What if your enemy is like me, over her fear of losing fighters to AA Guns?  Now she takes all your AA Guns with Germany and Russia’s forced to dedicate tanks instead of fighters out of fear of losing valuable fighters?

      Remember, Germany can easily recover from the loss of a fighter, and if she attacks 3 AA Guns with 3 Fighters we’re talking about a 50% chance of losing a fighter (not running the numbers, but 3 shots with a 1 in 6 chance should be 50% give or take.)  So each round Germany can count on a 5 IPC loss to AA Fire, but Germany’s earning 40 IPC or more.  And, to make matters worse, the Germans can still retreat those planes denying Russia and the Allies a chance to kill them, AND, they can use them as threat to attack enemy shipping still, forcing the allies to concentrate their naval forces.

      That’s true, if Berlin falls within two rounds of Moscow falling, the allies will almost certainly win. (Kind of depends on how many Japanese forces are left after Russia falls.)

      Gotcha, I misunderstood.  Thought you meant could the AI win as the axis, you meant would the AI go for a second capitol after the fall of Russia.

      Yea, dunno about that.  I know once you take a capitol, all units seem to stop functioning.  Though, I think it will retake Germany if the odds are seriously in it’s favor.

      SZ 37 is not a help in taking Hawaii, a44.  The idea of the transport for Japan, IMHO, is to take out a third American fighter.  Otherwise, I’d rather have ground forces in Asia for Japan (or Africa/Europe for Germany.)

      Makes sense, CB, but I’d still leave at least two infantry in W. Europe on G1 or G2.  That way England MIGHT get one with their battleship, but would still need to risk 7 IPCs to get the other one (or more.)  I’d probably leave the AA Gun there too, just to encourage England to avoid bringing Fighters, but I might not depending on how well I’m doing.

      Also, do note that my comment above about British destroyers to out-think the German fleets that later pull their fighters back can be out thought by Germany just by producing a submarine in SZ 5 each round.

      I’d say the submarine is a good investment when, and if, England gets 5 destroyers and their starting Battleship.  Anything less than that and you may not recover your investment on the submarine. (5 Destroyers = 15 Punch, 1 Battleship = 4 Punch, that’s 19 punch or roughly 3 hits.  3 hits = 9 IPC in infantry, a submarine costs 8.  Therefore, the submarine is cheaper than the lost infantry.)
