    • RE: Naval Units

Thats awesome! That more than doubles the navy we use now, so what did you use to tell them all apart from other countries as well as diffrent types of units?  :?

      Hey,

I’m with Jen, A&A game play is so easy any one playing about a dozen times has most unit costs, movement, attack, defence stats memorized. Not to mention have a visual in their head of the scenario a noob is describing as well as have a typical “what will be left after a round of combat.” If a human can do all that in their head tripleA leaves a lot to be desired, I think!

    • RE: Unique rules

      Hey,

I was trying to avoid posting an entire rule set. Let me restate my intentions a little bit. I think we can all agree that the rule sets are all about the same. I would also go as far as to say that every group has some rule that is unique to them. I’m sure that groups started doing this long before the NA’s came into play. I was just intrested as to how others adapted them for there group.

I’ll spend some time composing the unwritten rules we have used  probably have them up tomarrow.  :-)

      New Paint Brush,

If you had the above mentioned Sub fleet why would I fly the fighters back at all until your subs retreated or were killed off.

crazy straw brings up a good point you can only think as fast as your slowest unit.

      Hey,

Thats not true. US always gets to counter Pearl. This is how it would go down. Japan strikes pearl mustering its Navy from nearby locations make the death blow that brings the US into the game. Japan does what ever else it wants on mainland. follows up with NCM’s. Japan ends its turn. Thus starts the beginning of the US turn. If you retreat your sub like we discussed. On the US combat move you bring your sub as well as the rest of your Pacific Fleet sitting off the coast of California and your fighter there, lastly with your BMR when the smoke clears no one will have a Navy putting both the US and Japan in the same sinking boat.

    • RE: Rare house rules

      Hey,

I’m trying to keep this general. another rule we made was INF can spawn from any location not to exceed that locations IPC value.
Only if the location belonged to that country at the beginning of the game.
Our reasoning for this was Melita units could be made from no where for the most part. They didn’t roll off the assembly line like other equipment.

      Hey,

      (Sorry I think in fragments)

Somthing else to look into would be the St. Lawerce sea way. it starts in Main and devides the US from Canada. It follows northern New York into lake Ontario. From there all the great lakes are connected.

The reason I bring this up is becuase meany a Sherman came from Detroit through the sea way into the Atlantic.

      Hay Gang,

Heres something I want to ask you. What is it you want to change about the game so I can channel my focus? For example just the map?

If thats the case I would make those city circles for NYC, San Diego, and Chicago as well. It’s not fair that the rest of the world get so many when those places are also heavily populated.

      Yeah,

I would think it a good idea to maintain a good Naval Air Wing. this way you can initiate a strafe attack to “thin out there numbers” and return to the CV’s in time for them to attack you.

    • RE: New Axis & Allies Global War Variant (free map)

      Hey all,

The biggest thing that this game dynamic at all with is types of INF or ARM. I suppose that if thats what I was looking for I should head down to the A&A Mini area. All that aside for the most part Russian INF were all snipers not ground pounders. German Tanks were in CAV units not ARM regiments these are two totally diffrent styles of fighting but they are both covered under a general umbrella what can you do?

    • Rare house rules

      Hey gang,

I have another topic in another area meeting with stiff resistance. I hope that because I made the mistake of posting it in the wrong area.

I named the topic Unique rules. My mission was to find out what house rules vareations people use to add or disregard as the reader pleased.

For example in my group we decided that BB’s get 2 dice like BMR’s this will help separate them from destroyers also having the coastal bombardment ability.

Now what I want from you is rule variations you use in your groups or maybe have seen in other places to keep the game interesting. Also I would like it if you posted a justification as to the reason for the variation if any.

      Thank you all,

    • HALO 3

      Hey all,

This game comes out in like this (well maybe maybe not this year……) like in 1 year… (perhaps can’t trust those Microsoft guys after last time, hmmmmm… got it)

This game comes out in like like some time in the next decade! I’m surprised I’m the first to bring it up what are your takes on it??

Think it’ll be a let down or will it be a good ending to the trilogy?

      Hey,

I love Morrowind III, never played IV because I still have so much to do in III. For those of you that have played IV is it worth dropping III and moving onto bigger and better things???

    • RE: Attacking Japan from America

      Hey,

Thats silly you would think you could move the CV to that sea zone on a NCM just like you could move reinforcement INF from a neighboring frontline territory in a land situation.

      Hey,

Countering Pearl might be a better Idea b/c the life expectancy of a sub vs. fighters on Japan won’t last long.

    • RE: New Axis & Allies Global War Variant (free map)

      Hey,

I guess Dec 5th is fine but on the original as well as revised the IPC’s are dated 2 SEP 1941. (I Just reread that [I’m not trying to be a smart A**]).

The date I think is trivial because who’s to say how much time has elapsed during a turn or a round. It very well could start in SEP but the US is last and Japan might not be getting out of the starting blocks until 7 DEC 1941.

Also if you want to make it that specific as to what was where when, who’s to say you couldn’t put Germany and Italy units on the same starting places in lets say Africa?

Just some food for thought  :-)

      Hey all,

On concept I read somewhere else was when Japan reinacts Pearl have your sub retreat working its way to the sea of Japan to destroy any transports.

I think its a good idea I mean lets face Pacific Fleet US isn’t going to have a good day at all if you have an experienced Japan player. Having your sub attacking transports its only a matter of J2 fixing that but it may buy all the time you need to repell Japans foot hold on the mainland.

    • RE: How do you lay out a good Navy plan?

      Hey All,

I suppose that you just need a mass fleet where every you go (if you fight mostly Navy conflicts AKA Japan) the thing is they can see you coming from the other side of the ocean / a few turns away.

That might be the best card to play just telling the opposing force (OP4) you there might be all you need to do so as to avoid a fight.
