Got a question: “When reviewing the map please consider both historical accuracy and game play.”
I haven’t been paying that close of attention when does the map take place? I’m asking b/c the UK has a great deal of influence over the South Pacific and Japan doesn’t.
Side note: I like how the US has the Philippines nice touch. I also like how Japan has all the convoy routes in that area.
I like the map; however, do you have a proposal for unit starting locations? I think thats where at least half of the accuracy will come from. Also I think you should take into consideration that for example in North Africa you may have both German and Italian troops in the same places. (I know that that came up just not sure where that led).
Question: was Africa spelled Afrika at the time I looked it up in Websters the only reference to the alternitave was with South Africa starting in 1908. I hate to be a pain but I’ll look into it, but if any of you know off the top of your head I would be grateful.
Thanks for listening to the ramblings of an outsider looking in.

The urban idea would be awesome. I think they just scratches the surface in 2. I think they could do a lot better, for example in the game first to fight you could send 2 or 3 Marines (fire team based game) and your self to clear a room that would also be bad a**. Still I love the Banshee I wish the humans had something to counter it.
Maybe motor cycles that could be cool, but I don’t see how you could use that and shoot at the same time.
Mines would be a cool addition remote and timed.
I think there maybe more aliens in this one, b/c there was that giant fly trap that had both Chief and the arbiter s/he it will have to have a part in this one.
I think the pistol should be total bad a** in this one maybe sacrifice range for fire power? I don’t know how well that would work.
Maybe flash bang grenades to stun bad guys that would have potential, the game makers would have a field day with the aliens response’s to them.
I just don’t want to be left feeling how I felt and the end of two. It seemed like part two should have been an expansion pack to part one. Don’t get me wrong I love dispensing indiscriminate justice my buddies and I just felt like we were left hanging. I’m hoping that it will all come around and make this a bad a** trilogy.

I thought risk was awesome! Then I found A&A classic, later I moved to A&A revise, A&A D-Day….
I like it b/c its a strategy game you can start with at a young age untill you can move to more complex games like A&A. Like many of you said it has its place, I’m just not there any more.

You know how you could customize your spartin in the VS mode. I hope you will be able to in 3 but your customization will apply to your character in the actual game as well.
Also I’m with you guys we need more guns like maybe a 203 on the assult rifle (similar to what you said with the shot gun). I would also like to see smoke grenades. I know some of you won’t care about smoke b/c you think that the computer units just see right through it, but in conflict dessert storm 1 and 2 I think they did a good job about fixing that so I know it can be done. I also think they could ad a heavy machine gun that was portable. Maybe you have to “set it up” so then you get a view like you do with the sniper rifle.
Its hard to add weapons when we are not sure what kind of terrain they will be battling on. Are they going to be in space, on earth, the Allen home world space ships? I’d love to see a level where Chief hops into a ty fighter (star wars), viper (Battlestar Galactica), equivalent and blows bad guys up in space, just a thought.
As far as weapons like R&C I don’t think I would care for it then. Don’t get me wrong I like that game too, but what I like about Halo is that it uses conventional weapons in a space setting, like starship troopers. I just think it would take away from the genre of the game.
I am taking it that you (frimmel) tend to play the Germans most? So here is a German question for you and any one else willing to take a stab at it, in regards to Cherbourg, do you tend to:
1 ) Mass the forces in and around Cherbourg on the East side to hinder the US advance, or
2 ) Leave German forces where they lay in and around Cherbourg and let Allied forces sort them out for you in an attempt to take the city, or
3 ) Do you make an conscious effort to move reinforcements to the Cherbourg area?
I guess in a nut shell I’m asking do you write it off as a loss and focus your forces on the other two cities, or do you try to keep it?
Also Frimmel loved the link you gave me. At first the game left me at a loss not being able to use my normal tactics. Your link put this game into perspective for me thanks.
Question for the allies:
I got a good idea of how I’d use air support after looking at the link above. In reference to that would you coordinate your forces to take and hold Cherbourg first and make a giant radius Eastward, or do you have other concepts you deploy??

Hey all I bought this game not to long ago and haven’t played it much yet. I think it will be fun. I got a basic understanding of the game having played A&A classic, and A&A revised. My problem is that the basic strategies for the other game don’t work here. What basic strategy concepts have you A&A D-Day vets found that work? Also do you guys / gals like or hate the tactics cards and the fortune cards?
Have fun keep gaming

I take Panama b/c I only need one fleet to protect transports moving into Panama and the West Indies. I also do this b/c US is sending INF support to West Canada to slow down Japan so any US counter to Panama is at least another turn away.
Also I got ahead of my self Germany will have taken Brazil before they move to Panama, and like you said built an IC there for further support.
UK may be close to Germany but I always try to take Africa first with Germany. Then I tag-team Russia. After that I have always found it best to take Alaska with Japan and Panama with Germany and work my way to the middle. As I do this I leave UK stranded on their island with a German fleet waiting. Typically the UK does little to defend Canada and the US does little more. So the Axis tend to gain ground fast until the US can muster a force that will take a little more time.
What was your favorite Morrowwind mission, or set of missions?
I liked the one where you had to find some one in the city of Vivic, and a good ol’ bar room brawl was about to start over a race issue. Every now and again I need to dispence some indiscriminate justice.
Wow a whopping six votes. Hold on I want to make sure I counted right. (don’t want a recount demanded).
I kinda thought thats how it would play out. But I do think that Agent orange makes a good point. Then again I suppose I guess it depends on what you are looking for in a game.
How much will a hard copy of the map cost? How can one obtain units for the new China and Italy forces?
Do any of you find it disturbing that there are no children in this world?
I know you all have heard this before and a re getting sick of hearing me. I’m posting this “ad” every now and again just to see if new members are out there, or old members in the service move here.
Wanted: any one physically capable of playing A&A classic, revised, Europe, Pacific, BOTB, Mini’s. Around here there are slim pickin’s
I think you could still use a scale system to work it out it would just need more variables. Look at football player stats I can’t tell you what makes that magic number but they seem to have a good system down for putting one player vs another.
I know that souds kinda stupic if US = 111 it has to beat Afganistan at 82.
I would think it would have to be more complex then that like when I worked in supply in the Army every thing had a “NSN” National Stock Number it broke down like this:
1005-01-231-1234
I made this one up b/c I couldn’t remember any without looking. 1005 = small arms less than 40mm, 01 = country code 00, 01 are made in US, 231 = transportation code it can be move by 1) land, a) truck, b) rail, 2) sea, 3) air. Lastly 1234 was the number used to ID that item so for sake of arument say its an M-16. Also NSN’s are not limited to numbers they also use letters.
you could use this system to put econonic, political probability, military size, and as many other variables as you want.
I think some mathmatician could devise a system that was 90% acurate lets say this would make it a probable answer not an absolute. When you read it, it would look like binary code.
The hardest think to input would be public opinion I think. When we went to Iraq the US was in the 80 percential about going look at in now.
What do you think about that?
Agree 100% My church leaders tell my: pray as if everthing depends on it, work as if everthing depends on you.
In the revised rule set can you use bombers to move 1 INF as paratroopers like in classic? If so has any one used this airborne idea to island hop?
That would be a good idea; however, I have been on ship I wouldn’t like the idea of being a land combatant on a Naval war ship. Its to crowded already. I always figured 1 INF to represent 1 division now days thats about 16,000 people, and 1 ARM to represent 1 tank or CAV division 495 tanks unsupported. Transports are needed I think to keep the ratio somewhat in balance.
RE: to the KJF comment,
I don’t use UK to KJF, I use them to pacify Japan until I done with Germany. 3 INF and maybe 2 ARM per turn isn’t going to slow down Japan if they want the mainland.
