i forgot to mention, the ussr transport if it survives can be used by the uk as a “half” transport for 1 inf per turn, or 2 every other which allows the uk to move a little more in without disrupting infantry buys to get a full transport (which they may not even be able to fill)

RE: Is it possible for Russia to build a navy and still win?posted in Axis & Allies Classic
remember anything is possible! the russian navy that you do start out with can be useful! transport can be used to give russia western cash it can’t otherwise get. and sub can get in the pacific and block lone tranny to new zealand, this only happened once, but…

RE: New odds calculator..posted in Axis & Allies Europe
of course the dice are fun, you never know, you might get lucky! but calculators are important. Without a calculator, for large battles, the odds can be 90%+ or <10% and it’s really hard to tell which it is usually.

RE: Does it feel good to win individually in this game?posted in Axis & Allies Classic
That is interesting to leave the countries as-is and play it out. It would become very diplomatic, and any power can win when diplomacy is involved, the problem is japan would by far have the best win percentage because it has the most expensive stuff, and the best position to expand. Due to the nature of the setup, Germany and Japan make great allies because they don’t confict with eachother. Therefore, these countries can be agressive, and the allies lose the right to put units on allied soil. Basically what I’m saying is unless all the players are extremely experienced, Japan will win most of the time. Once all the players get really good, Germany will know not to attack anyone at first (or else after that person dies, Germany will too), maybe shuck stuff through persia -afghan to attack japan with. Would be weird, I can see pacific strats working here. Would require a lot of experience to be much fun though. Everyone would have to work hard to keep everyone else balanced.

RE: 2 rules questionsposted in Axis & Allies Classic
ok thanks for this info, these were a few rules i wasn’t sure about. The carrier thing came up when i was attacking in pacific:
2 fighters, carrier, battleship 2 destroyers
with 3 fighters (1 could land on land) 1 carrier 1 battleship as the uk
I basically wanted to blow as much of the imperial navy out of the water as i could even if it cost me more. The usa destroyed the rest of the navy. I actually won with the battleship remaining, but I was lucky. I did kill the carrier first and wanted to make sure it was legal. Thanks for the quick replies.
Also, aa guns fire no matter who’s territory they are on right? because the cd confuses me there. -
RE: 2 rules questionsposted in Axis & Allies Classic
no say i kill the carrier the first round, and the fighter the second, at the beginning of the second round, it dooms the fighter. If the fighter is not hit, it will die. so the second round combat units would be illegal in the first round

2 rules questionsposted in Axis & Allies Classic
I have 2 questions
how does aa gun ownership work if:
I move an aa gun to a russian owned finland on usa’s turn. can russia move the gun on ncm, or is the gun owned by usa. or can any ally move their ally
s gun, only once per round.
If I capture an aa gun in german held karelia with uk, would the aa gun become russian?second deals with carriers
if I move a fighter and a carrier and some other stuff into combat, and the fighter needs the carrier to land on, is it legal to kill the carrier first in battle? I know both the carrier and fighter will be used for fodder (I’m killing the other player’s really good stuff or something) but without the carrier, the fighter is doomed which is illegal to “plan” or something. -

rr is russia restricted, meaning russia cannot attack first round

RE: This has probably been asked before but…....posted in Axis & Allies Pacific
i would start with the world game. the world is more of a classic, and it’s rules are the simplest. Europe has a few new rules, and pacific has the most. It might be confusing to play pacific without playing any aa before…

RE: Kamikaze vs. Battleshipposted in Axis & Allies Pacific
or you have uk planes on your carrier and use them for fodder, this is legal right?

RE: Allied Strategic Bombing Strategyposted in Axis & Allies Classic
I am sure this doesn’t work
Some one mentioned that you will be taking all the money from Germany. This is possible. But Japan is safe! Also, it takes a while for germany to not have money. You are saying that Russia can invade Germany. The problem here is that germany has superior forces. Say that by turn 4 Germany get’s no money. In that time, It has earned enough to build 30-40 infantry. Say that it only get’s 30. Well It will still have 35 infantry 8 tanks 5 fighters on germany in a worst case scenario It would probably have 45 infantry. Not to mention Jap fighters It will take Russia until Turn 6 at the absolute least just to take out germany. With jap fighters could take 8 or more turns. This is assuming Germany only has it’s 35 infantry. And didn’t ship the africa korps back. It doesn’t work!! Japan will win. Of course this doesn’t factor in that the allies can build transports once the usa bb comes around, but I don’t see this working unless the Allies are lucky. I’m assuming rr here with non-rr no bid, the allies can do a lot of things. -

I have the full version of VC++ 6.0 which is old, but works. I’m mainly to lazy to program it in due to my other projects

RE: What ifposted in Axis & Allies Europe
well, to keep it simple, you can’t build new ic’s that’s the standard rule in europe anyway. Otherwise germany goes and builds a few each turn and it’s ridiculous.

RE: The First Moveposted in Axis & Allies Classic
if you buy 2 fighters with germany (especially first turn), then russia will smash you a bit.
-
RE: Anti tank gunsposted in Axis & Allies Europe
what about unlimited aa guns, you can use them however you want, but they can only fire on a maximum of x units or something. start with x is 6 then do some careful complex math to calculate the right value for x so that buying aa/tank guns or infantry varies from game to game. Also russia has 4 aa guns to start with, this makes the german bomber worth a lot, it’s loss means the aa guns are free…

do you mean his calculator, or my theory? I haven’t actually compiled mine yet, but I know a good use for it…

RE: Grand Russian attackposted in Axis & Allies Classic
with kwang+manch, china is usually safe, and if they do all that bombard stuff, it saves fighter on carrier. It also, and more importantly, puts japan back a turn.
