I was under the assumtion that if you have an AB on Malta, you can scramble fighters to attack any enemy vessels entering or moving thru the seazone?

RE: AA40_Expansion Pack Ideaposted in House Rules
Personally, I’d settle for just being able to order an extra set of playing pieces. I checked the Wizards of the Coast website, and as of right now, they have no plans to sell the playing pieces separately. I have plenty of pieces from the Milton Bradley version (I ordered an extra set from them), but they are now the wrong colors for Germany and Russia (although the old Russian brown looks pretty close to the Italian colors). Also, I have no pieces for cruisers, artillery, or tac bombers. But I do have (from Xeno) helicopters, armored cars, hovercraft, destroyers, and M1 tanks. I like to play with house rules allowing paratroops, marines, and air transports. I use the helicopters for air transports, the hovercraft for marines, and an infantry with a blue poker chip under it for a paratroop. I’ll have to come up with something different now.
Buy lots of spraypaint!

Seems to me Gibraltar will be a very interesting case in this new game…. VERY EXCITING!
Now whats even more exciting than that is your new AA pieces!

What about using search roll option for all naval combat?
Me and my friends used air search patrol for years now.
2 or less. If you don’t find the fleet the attack is cancelled.A few years ago, my friend didn’t succeed to find my fleet with 8 airplanes!
Too bad, my fleet was in inferiority!
The attack was cancelled and during my turn I found his fleet and I destroyed it.
The battle looked like Midway!Thats what im talking about!!! The dice are everything to the game. I wish i could see your friends face when you sunk his fleet. awesome. I love the fact that even thou i am an experienced player, the possibility exsists that less experienced player can kick my ass if i rool crummy dice.

RE: Revised Global 1940: New Setupposted in House Rules
Looked at your starting #s again, doubling naval would be way too much. just dont like the idea of same old UK fleet dessimated G1 and the big eventual confrontation of US and Japans fleets after many turns of staring each other down. both sides usally badly mauled.

If im looking for more engauging naval activity. Can all ship #s be doubled at start of game without throwing off game balance? Would changing Naval ratios upset Land and air ratios? are they connected?

RE: New movement concepts for Global 39 and 40posted in House Rules
Yes i see all your points. i didnt even think about using non-AB tts to protect planes from air attack. I still like my Bombers idea and will playtest this on my own when i am up and running again( recently relocated, still unpacking). Thanks for taking the time to engauge my ideas. I hope you dont think im a pain in the ass for always throwing my 2 cents at you but its not easy to find people that think on this level for this game. always looking to take this game to the next level.

Take a guess? I think the staight by Denmark was heavily mined and had alot of anti sub nets that Gibralter didnt have. :?

RE: New movement concepts for Global 39 and 40posted in House Rules
Ok, that all makes perfect sense. BUT Bombers should be required to only land at ABs. Just makes sense realisticly, With what you have already, you are not going to be able to use your airforce effectivly without ABs anyway. if you use a bomber in an attack and need to land it in a TT without an airbase for logistic reasons, you will not be able to attack with that Bomber on the next turn. thats worse than just having your ABs in place before you can start letting the bombs drop. Bombers cannot and do not operate outside of ABs

RE: New movement concepts for Global 39 and 40posted in House Rules
Please clarify,
ALL aircraft cannot proform any kind of attack in combat move without it comming from an AB.
Fighters can only use a total of 2 moves to enter into combat over land territories but still have 2 moves left to land after combat is resolved.
Fighters can land in any friendy land territory per OOB but can only defend that territory if attcked and also cannot scramble without AB.
All of the above applies to Bombers except Bombers can move 3 territories over land into combat. -
RE: Straight of Gibraltarposted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
Gibralter is also the key stopover point for all UK aircraft to reach the Med and N Africa. Take that away and UK would have much more difficulty in getting aircraft into the region.

RE: AAG1940 at Gencon so farposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
@Imperious:
Bogus meaning it really hurts Italy if it works out and thats not good to have a setup where you can just take out the fleet with such a natural move. It leads to predicable play, which i was hoping the game would offer more choices than these obvious moves. It also pretty much either finishes off Italy when they attack or if they don’t, the British finish off Italy.
Thats why we need IL to create alternate starting setups.

How about surprize air attack on Naval Base? Ships docked in port, Pearl type situation. all fighters attack at 2 die @4 for one round after AAfire.

RE: New movement concepts for Global 39 and 40posted in House Rules
Just to clarify, i didnt say all planes need an AB to land, just bombers. With the amount of starting ABs and buying a few to connect to dots it might not be a bad idea. will leave it your way for now and will playtest in future.

RE: Revised Global 1940: New Setupposted in House Rules
Oh i see, you have 4 carriers= i unit. makes sense. so, 1 carrier is holding 125 planes becouse 2 fighters rep. 500 and 1 carrier rep. 4. is that correct?

RE: Revised Global 1940: Rules of Neutralityposted in House Rules
Neutral rules much more realistic and balanced. I will definitley use these.
The way this is going you will have the whole rulebook rewritten before the game hits the streets. Keep going! -
RE: New movement concepts for Global 39 and 40posted in House Rules
Ok, if you dont like the upgrade for ABs to accept bombers. how about you require an AB to land a bomber? You already require one for SBRs, i dont think bombers should be able to land anywhere on the board that you own.
