I don’t necessarily agree with not buying an IC for japan 1st or 2nd turn. Â Sure that is three armors, but you still need to invest in trannies to get them over to the mainland, not to mention you can only transport two tanks at a time on two trannies which cost 1 more than one industrial complex. Â With a build in indochina I can now automatically put three armors there next turn which have access to the china/sian passage or can harass britian in india. Â Britan now has to decide if they are going to try and hold india or if they are just going to give it up. Â If they try to hold it most will build an IC there and that will eventually fall, and if they don’t try to hold it I now can dominate a straight passage to the caucauses as well. Â I actually might try that next game. I have been building an IC on turn 2 in china with japan and immediately going for three trannies on j1 but next time I am actually going to try going 1 trannie j1, 1 IC, and then 2 infantry. And to the topic creator I have tried blding an ic in kwang and I feel it is inferior to the FIC build.

RE: No variety in A&Aposted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
me and my friends recently started a game of a&a, we quckly quit shortly after, realizing there was noo point to it. Since we figuered that everyone did the same moves always and if they failed to do this then the other side would do their moves and win. We found that since everyone has to do the same thing or lose, there is no variety to the game. :| has anyone else encountered this?
I am curious, which side typically wins?
Well If I put in my 2 cents from the 10-12 games I have recently played the axis has only lost 2x. Granted some of them america was very unfocused, but even when america was focused a good japan player has been able to pretty much run amuck, smash russia, and then reinforce germany (which should probably be breached and weakened by UK/American trannies) enough to hold them off until japan can regroup and push towards western us.

I was also getting busted by heavy bombing but I got extremely lucky and managed to shoot down at least a plane here and there, with germany if you are pushed back a lot of your survival will depend on the luck of the rolls and if you can hold them off long enough for japan to reinforce germany. Your pacific fleet should be big enough to at least make him concerned about transports having an easy time getting to west america and back to japan. I think that was my key to victory last night, that and a massive force holed up in germany. Plus once you have 10+figs posted in moscow and germany you can decide if you want to attack his navy. Either way he is going to lose some transports if nothing more and you can always retreat planes if you take a bad hit.

This sounds exactly like how the game my roommate played with me last night I was axis and ended up winning but we were at the very same point. He had a decent fleet over by midway but what I did to take a little pressure off of germany was begin to moblize from japan, I was making 61 ipcs with japan so I had plenty of money to send around. I just began stacking my trannies with troops/armor (you still have the 4 fighters which are not going unnoticed if you decided to assault western america). It will probably still take a turn before you can truly get an obvious assault mounted but now america does have another threat to divert funds too. What I did with the extra money I took from russia I immediately invested in 8 tanks, of course I already had a huge japanese force that would be into germany within two turns, so the route I went after the initial 8 tank buy was 3-4 figs at a time. I got lucky and also spent 15 for fighter jets and hit it so by the time the allies were able to roll up in germany I had moved my guys from western europe (giving it up) and had a formidable force of around 32 2’s, 13 or so armor, and 5 figs. Needless to say his biggest assault netted him only 10 casualties which I easily replaced with germany. From there I just bought more infantry/arm with japan and more figs which I moved into germany and he gave up because I was getting ready to mobilize against america. It was far from over but over the long run I had the edge. Anyways I think the biggest push needs to come from japan once russia has fallen. YOu need to mobilize your navy to move towards west america to take some pressure off of the trannies of men america keeps sending in and you need to support germany from moscow with figs and tanks

RE: Great game, although a little confused about power balance.posted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
Okay I will give the allies a go next time I play. I am anxious because I have played about 10 times and still have not had a chance to check out Russia or America. I think it is more important for the allies to be coordinated than the axis. A few questions though regarding the allies strategy:
what about bombers from britain, are they worth investing in for strategic bombing raids, you could buy one more then roll for heavy bombing and could practically hit germany for 16 ipcs a turn, or does this not work out? also where do you guys drop transports off for both the UK and America, ive played with the UK and generally I establish north atlantic dominance and then I shuffle guys up in that northern most stretch of sea that feeds directly into Russia. With America is it more worthwhile to transport units the same route or should I be trying to directly offload them into german territory, or should I just hit them from the western side of america, or is there too much ground to cover in russia going that route? Thanks for the suggestions.Â

Great game, although a little confused about power balance.posted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
Well my friend bought this game 2 weeks ago, never heard of it until he bought it, but I must say I have found my new favorite game to play. I have been on here reading a lot of posts about everything getting ideas, and I am a little confused because everyone says the allies are more powerful but in the 7 games that we have played, the allies have not won a single time. Is this normal? I am a pretty good competitor/strategist so maybe I am just chucking it up to good strategy on the side of the axis. I have been germany 4 times (luck of the draw) so I am pretty well versed in their tactics now and don’t have too hard of a time disrupting the coordiation of the allies and maintaining my hold against the russians, and maintaining control of the north atlantic sea. I played japan for the first time last night and my friend was germany also for the first time (2 vs 2), and we dominated pretty much the entire game. The final dagger in the heart came when one of my friends got greedy with a massive US navy that was heading to an empty japan to bombard it, he left the us capital city open like an idiot and we took it for a turn, but it was enough to take all his money and finally solidify our game. I had pretty much dominated BK in both the china pass and in india(not after some close and heated battles, man bk can really stack up india if they are left to do so). I still have not had a chance to try out russia or america, but I think maybe where the allies are failing is the fact that the american competitor always seems to drag his heels about what he wants to do. I am not really sure though, I want to try America because I feel like I could bring a win for the allies for a change since I have some good ideas from this board, I just wanted some people’s opinions on if they felt the axis was overpowered or if the allies just need to get their act together :) Thanks
