Most don’t like her. Many do not want her to tour Colorado. They view her campaign as an insult to the lives given by their child to the armed services for the USA.

RE: Govt. Response to Katrina
BTW, I read in a very important journal that the Chicago area has the worst reaction time for any emergency. Hmmm…
That wouldn’t surprise me, since the Daley Machine has been in control of Chicago forever. The curroption in Chicago is rampent. I believe even Blagovich is having trouble now.
Its from the tollway revenues. The revenues have already paid off the bonds issued for them. The original intent was to keep the tollways up until the original bonds were paid off. Well the polititions who promised it will eventially go away have been replaced by new ones greedy to be paid by tollway money. Its become a political dragon and the gov’t on municipal and state levels have no more valient knights to fight it. The tollways are evil. The are and will stay a continuous lie until they go away like the original promise.
Remember the big campaign to get the transponders? Non-users are now charged double? Transponder violators are allowed 20 before massive late payment penalties escalate the fine into the thousands of dollars per driver. All for about $10 of unpaid tolls over time. Pure evil.

Birth School Work Death, stuka man.
Even for married folks making their 50th anniversary, life is short when compared to the afterlife.

RE: R1 Fighter movement to Egypt a good/ bad idea?
It might work vs PC, but I think it gives too big an oppty for Ger to take Kar and the upper hand.
Extra Rus Ftr in Egy will deter the Ger attack there, but certainly invite a Kar attack.
Egy is important, but Kar has the IC, so the game can swing much more decisively with its capture. Besides, UK has 3I , F, + B to retake Egy to hold back Ger.

I have seen it used in AARevised (by Av Hill), but not the 2nd ed MB version.

RE: Govt. Response to Katrina
this has nothing to do race but more with economic status. If you’re poor you get pizzed on, which as I said before, is much worse than getting pizzed off …these are dis-enfranchised people who have no political voice and so nobody gave a fducj…
So Teddy would have been electricuted a long time ago if he was poor and left that same girl to drown in the creek…
I see articles lambasting the FEMA director for being disqualified to serve. This after a disaster where response seems to be slow.
Did they make a fuss about the appointment? Did they stall it or were they too preoccupied with stopping judicial nominees? Or did they think that a disaster will eventually happen and they can spring the accusation then?
Did Teddy’s actions back then qualify him for Senate? Does his continued drunkeness qualify him to serve the state of MA?

RE: Govt. Response to Katrina
Perhaps there was an order given to plant bombs in the levee to blow it apart.
Maybe that levee was was used for stealth bomber target practice.
It was part of his “secret” plan to drown out the black Al Queda cells there. Oh yeah, NOLA citizens harboring the terrorists are not with us, so they are against us…

RE: Govt. Response to Katrina
Did any of these finger pointers alert FEMA, Bush, the coast guard, local Nat’l guards, etc… prior to the levee failures?
Or did they sit and wait for the second day of bad news reports, to pounce on the Bush administration? This could have given them lots of political capital. Then they can play the vote divider card to win the poor blacks in the next election.
http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/katrina/katrina_timeline.html
Pres Bush declared a state of emergency the day before the levees broke. This was the day of Katrina’s LA landfall.
Bush cut his vacation short the following day when the levees broke.
He didn’t lift a finger when it hit Florida.
I don’t see victoms there blaming him.

RE: Govt. Response to Katrina
Within a few months;
Almond farmers will point their fingers at the govm’t for the failure of bees to polinate their groves, resulting in massive crop losses.Grain farmers in the midWest will point their fingers at the govm’t for the drought causing massive crop losses and unemployment.
NW employees and passengers will point their fingers at the govm’t for the mechanic’s strike causing massive delays pushing their company to bankruptcy.
I do not see how any of this finger pointing helps any of the people in need. Not only that, how much have the office holding finger pointers really given?

RE: Western Europe
Assuming both USA and UK have effective trn fleets.
Use Spain as the launchpad to threaten every continental territory.
Ground troops in Spain can also support your attack on WE, so it is as if you had double the inf for the UK attack.
USA can follow up with supportive landings (using trn, marching inf, and landing ftrs) or
an exploitive arm blitz into SE.EE can be open to attack as well. This one works better if you have many UK/USA trns and BB’s. If Ger is spread thin enough where the US follow-up invasion to EE can win, then the Rus can also follow with an exploitive arm blitz into SE.
It all depends on where UK can lead an assault. US and Rus can both move before Ger can counter.

Mankind has practiced ID for centuries.
We are much better at it now.
Just think of all the different breeds of dogs, cats, horses, cows, corn, salmon, trout, tilapia, grapes, etc…

RE: Good or Evil?
His fear of death… It likely means that he knows the afterlife will not be kind to him.
He probably knows that the 72 virgin thing is among the lies spread by the radicals.

RE: Good or Evil?
OBL fears that his death will end his cause. His hiding indicates the fear of his own martyrdom.
If he truly believed that he was good, martyrdom would not matter to him. He knows that God will not protect him in the open of any country that values freedom and justice over violence and terrorism.
Napoleon in his waning days, still lead his troops from the battlefield, and not some far away safe haven, cave, or bunker.

RE: Tiger Tanks
From the posts, I gather that Tiger tanks showed great superiority vs other tanks.
I think it would be fair to treat them as ordinary tanks when the battlefield opponents do not have tanks.
These special units should only have a bonus feature when fighting opposing tanks.
You should also allow hits by their special ability to target opposing tanks at the Ger player’s discretion.

RE: Poll: German First Turn Build
The extra trn allows attacks on both AES and Syr. The trn is only a nuisance after that. GBR fleet builds will be slowed down by the 2 Bmbs. And soon, the shift in cash flows to Ger.
Unless the Allies either land immediately into WAfr and then slow down Germany from completely consolidating their hold on Africa. What’s more the Germans can’t really afford to send more inf into Africa than a typicl PAfrica bid would do. Like I said I never mind a G1 purchase of a transport b/c it is easy to kill and therefore a waste of money. What’s more Germany really does need men in Europe if they are to ever WIN the game. Just mastering cash flow will not lead to certain victory.
I normally play RR, so no bids. The games posted indicate that PAf is superior to trn buy. Allies usu do not have enough ships to safely land in Afr until round 3 or 4.
Of course, opposition deployments and battle results should weigh in on any purchase decision.

RE: Poll: German First Turn Build
8 inf and a transport for southern europe. You have to control Africa, and the transport will help big time.
I really dislike the G1 purchase of a transport b/c I think it merely encourages the Brits to build 2bmbs and then on B2 attack bb 2trn with 2ftrs 3bmbs which enables them to take out your transport at no additional cost as they were going to lose a ftr to kill the bb trn anyway. In the end you merely waste 8ipcs for very little gain as the Germans cannot afford large numbers of troops in Africa anyway.
The extra trn allows attacks on both AES and Syr. The trn is only a nuisance after that. GBR fleet builds will be slowed down by the 2 Bmbs. And soon, the shift in cash flows to Ger.

RE: M84 Varients
So was M84 for that game at the end of the Japan turn?
Most of the boards I peruse set M84 at the end of the USA turn. This is quite fair and acceptable since the round of 5 nations ends with the USA.
A true sign of Axis power would be to set the M84 at the end of the Russia turn.
Your loss to M84 must have been a pain. Yet when you play Axis, I’m sure it bugs you that key territories like Spain and Kar get stacked to the point where the tide turns viscious without any combat. Gettting M84 is like contorting yourself out of the Allied death grip before it closes in.

RE: M84 Varients
I think it is a valid way to end a game vs a stubborn / drunken Allied player _ after _ taking over Russia.

RE: Cell phones on planes
In the next 50 years, the auto companies, urged on by the insurance companies, should be able to put a Knight Industries 2000 computer system for automatic accident-proof driving into all of our cars.
Knight Rider w/ David Hasselhoff was on about 20 years ago. The technology for cars has only taken baby steps since.
