    • Para rule variation???

      I was thinking that the para rule might be more historically accurate and less likely to throw a game off if;

      The bomber carrying the paras has it’s range reduced to 4.

      Did the transports like the Curtiss C 46 and Douglass C 47 actually haul the troops on big drops or were they just used to pull gliders? I guess what I am asking is would these troop planes have nearly the range of the B-17, B-24 and B-29 that carried the bombs.

      Just looking around the web a little, I found that the normal range for the Mustang, which was a top of the line fighter with a relatively long range, was 1080 miles. The normal range of the Curtiss C-46 heavy transport was 1200.

    • RE: Need guidance with house rules/leveling….

      Do you think we would still need a bid of 6 with RR and German Rockets?

    • Have settled on some rules…..

      OK. My local group is planning to start playing again after a loooong layoff.

      We are trying to avoid a bid system. We just like the ol’ coin flip. We have settled on 3rd edition rules with RR, German rockets from the start, and Jap kamikazes. Any idea what Jap kamikazes will do other than make a full blown PH attack easier? I don’t see them having much effect.

      Wouldn’t the game have been alot more even if they had just given Germany a couple more inf in africa to begin with? I am sure many have written Hasbro about it over the past 15-20 years.

    • Inflexible strategies=no fun?

      I am trying to build my understanding of the game by reading Don’s A&A Strategic Essays. I am also reading some of the answers to various questions posed here.

      Doesn’t all this micro-mangement take away from the spontaneity and “fun” of the game? All these “you have to do this 1st turn and that 2nd turn” seem a bit much. I know the some answers will be, “Do you want to win or not?” But is the game that flawed that there is only one way for each nation to effectively play and any deviation from it, while it may not cost you the game, will not be as effective as it should be?

    • Just joined up and more ???s re. leveling, 3rd Ed, etc…..

      Seen enough here to join up.

      Please help me out with my “house rules/leveling” post. Specifically, I need to know if you guys think the 3rd Ed rules along with RR and Germany getting Rockets at the start with no other WD allowed would even the game or is it too much given 2 equal opponents?

      Also, I would like to know what the general feel is regarding the 3rd edition rules. Do they aid the Axis or are they more for realism?
