Wow complete brain fart, I was just going to ask Gargantua that, and then I realized that I’m the US!!! Sorry guys, will post tonight!
Doesn’t his lndlord know that the interweb is akin to an essential service?!?!?!?
just in case I didn’t load the right one. :)
I’m good to try out the tech and -3 German sub rule, it"s German subs only, correct?
If Italy declares war on Russia and capture a territory, can the German army move into that territory on their next turn without declaring war on Russia
I’d jump in on that as well as allies. What would the sides be?
I’d jump in on that too. :)
Okay, if the German player would be so kind as to start a thread, we can begin. :-D
Multiplayer ios the only way to go. That way your fighting both your enemies and your allies mistakes. :)
All we need is a player for Russia. :)
If you’re really curious for some serious input Mr. Sgt. Then we can switch our factions in our upcomming game. While I’ve never been Italy yet, I’m eager to try it. :)
I personally do not favour a turn 1 attack on Italy as the brits for reason’s I need not repeat here (as I’ve posted long about that in the “taranto standard thread”), but without having been subjected to it, it doesn’t look to me at face value an instant loss to Italy. Sure the luftewaffe must come to your aid and crush the brits ending their naval power in europe, and if the brits go hardcore africa with indian planes then Japan’s job is a lot easier, but it looks like all that does is put you at a moderate disadvantage.
I would try leveraging my starting forces as potential threats to launch a large attack keeping the brits from moving too fast in north africa and try to make up the difference by working closer with Germany in europe. I’d try to have normandy left for me and move through greece threatening the “money” targets in Russia. While dropping off a few inf in north africa, far enough away that the brits can’t (hopefully) sink the trans on it’s first run. :)
I would compare it to anzac in the pacific. In Japan hits you hard and has transports place to at least threaten landings, then while your options are limited, but you can still be a drain on your enemy’s war effort. Italy is by far the weakest axis power and will almost always have to react instead of dictate the war. More, cheaper, troops and forcing to allies to spend more on fighting you then it’s worth in the long run become your important goals. I think I could make a run of it, so if you’ll switch with me, Blitz, I’ll put my money where my mouth is. ;)
cool, all we need is one more for russia and we’re good to go. :)
You still get to chip away at tje italian fleet since they’ll cery likely hit the french in sz 93 and airpower from the UK can hit sz 93 and land on a carrier in sz 92. That’s not to say that I would NEVER do it, but a turn one attack would be far from “standard”.
It’s important to remember it’s not just the IPC cost to replace them, it’s also when will you get the chance. With money spent in SA, and germany always with the threat of an “on the cheap” sealion if you spend all your money on navy. Plus you’ll need transports and airpower… If yu already have a core of a navy it’s easier to suppliment it with subs and the like. You can then base everything out of Malta, or whatever you like. If you get into a naval arms race with italy then they’re not reinforcing africa via transports, and they’re probably pinned in sz 95 or 97. Then, once the US comes in and the navy is sunk they can’t recover, since you already own africa.
Out Of Box of the alpha set up for the pacific side. Since it’s a global game and my last UK game was with the OOB we’ll just play the box set-up
If two turns of fleet building for the US is messing you up to the point of losing then you need to alter your plans. Start building more carriers and subs earlier. Make your decisive engagements with the British and anzac forces as soon as you can, then move your fleet to better strategic positions. New air and naval bases should be built so you can set up areas that you can hit from many different places, and still use your planes on the mainland. Once the DEI are under control and the uk is making 6ish ipc’s and anzac 10, your BBs/CRs are better used as warships instead of for bombards. The carolines is a great strategic location to use to split the allies as is anything in sz37 (malaya). A transport chain can give you a solid flow of land troops and then make attacks on back to back turns without buying IC’s. Spend the first 1-3 turns positioning yourself for a big push and spread around your transports so that each fleet has at least one so not only can the allies not predict where you’ll land but you can take advantage of oppenings. Use the islands to your advantage so your land based planes can team up with your fleet and have a place to land. Give yourself a couple extra bombers for their superb range. In Global Japan seems like a complex power to play, alwya needing to watch it’s back, but good positioning and the fact that the US is far from any territory of worth (except japan itself, but 10 inf and a few planes is a HARD nut to crack. Hunt down any UK/anzac navy early, so that you can use blocking destroyers to slow down the US fleets to great advantage.
I’m recruiting for a new multiplayer forum game so I can finaly put my Pac40 skills to the test in Global, so if you want to know what I mean come see that game. Or better yet, join us. :)
Well anchovy, we’re starting with other peeps, so step up and pick a side. :)
