    • RE: Manchuria in the Global game

      @ksmckay:

      I think if Japan tried to send all those units to russia then they would get overwhelmed by China and UK in south asia.  All those units marched toward China and got there just in the nick of time for me to prevent the chinese from spreading.

      The global game should be interesting.  I wonder if it will use the same setup or a new global setup.

      Yes they are doing the same for me this game lol. Hopefully some light can be shed on the topic from some history buff’s. And maybe even Krieg could give us some memories from playtesting. :roll: :-)

    • Manchuria in the Global game

      Hello everyone, my thoughts for this thread don’t really pertain to the Pacific game but to the global game.

      Japanese forces on Manchuria amount to no less than 4 Infantry, 1 Mechanized Infantry, 1 Artillery, 1 Anti-aircraft gun, 1 bomber, 3 fighters, and 2 Tactical bombers.

      To me this showing of strength would suggest that the Russians are going to have a hefty amount of materials in Amur and it’s surrounding territories.

      So does anyone know what the Russian strength was in 1940? I was just curious as to the reason for the amount of pieces in Manchuria.

      Thanks Everyone 8-)

    • RE: Mech units in Europe

      @Emperor_Taiki:

      Mech infantry are not used alot in the pacific theater!

      Who’dah  thunk it!

      Of course there going to be alot more useful in Europe, its six f@#$ing spaces between Berlin and Stalingrad, the game is going to be half way over by the time the first reg inf get there.

      Hi Taiki, did you get that info from Larry Harris on his site? Or is it just hopeful speculation?

    • RE: Rules Q&A

      A few quick questions im confused about.

      1. Can a Minor IC be built on any land territory regardless of IPC value?Only a major may be built on a territory with a IPC value of 3 correct?

      2.Without declaring war can i as japan on J1 move a fleet to SZ35 which contains American surface ships?I dont want to attack,i just want them there for j2.

      EDIT: 3- WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM damage a minor and major IC can take each?

      Thank you.

    • RE: A Bad Opening I Might Play

      @Corbeau:

      You can check my game vs Butcher.

      I did a similar opening:

      http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=15189.0

      I went to Karelia with 4 fighters, 3 inf + art, cruiser’s bombard.

      I splitted the rest of my attacks between to hit all UK’s fleet, hoping to end up at least even. It was not a very successful result in Atlantic, I could have cut down my losses by foregoing seazone 9 where I was a bit greedy and sending it to sea zone 12.

      All in all, as you can see, Italians are very strong despite foregoing Egypt G1 and bad results in Atlantic. Nothing prevents Japan from sending ships, fighters and bombers to Europe. A fact many axis players ignore.

      During the NCM you can move units to territories that were captured the same turn? If so i’ve been missing out.

    • RE: Science Fiction/Fantasy Book Forum

      @Bardoly:

      Has anyone here read any of the “Ranger” novels by the Australian author, John Flanagan?

      I’ve read a few favorable reviews, so I’m thinking about giving them a try.

      @Krupp:

      Anyone who like militaristic sci-fi should check out the ‘Horus Heresy’ series of novels published by the Black Library.
      Really enjoyable.

      Krupp Steel,

      Thanks for the input!  One question.  What style (as in range or scope) of militaristic sci-fi are these books?  spaceships?  ground combat?  galaxy-wide?  a few solar systems? a single planet?

      Sorry about the late response.
      It deals with spaceships, ground combat, HtoH combat, galaxy-wide, heroes, Alien races,  dark magiks, and it is a very mature read i can also add. Good humour mixed in along with it all.

      It is the backround fluff for the Games Workshop table-top strategy game Warhammer 40k.

    • RE: Advantages Incurred from the 1940 Start Date

      Is America at war with Germany on the first turn? Did Germany declare war on America in 1944? Or was it much earlier. I’m confused because this would be a huge bonus for both the Axis player and the Allied player. Germany has the first few turns to beat up France, prepare for Barbarossa and maybe even a SeaLion. This would also mean that the American player now has these turns to completely focus all his builds in the Pacific (if the Japanese player declares war early).

      Maybe this will encourage some German naval builds now. Which will certainly add a nice touch imo. Always wanted to see those Kriegdmarine pieces used more often. :-P

    • RE: The new SBR system

      So say i had 2 fighters in Germany and the British were running a SBR with 3 fighters and 2 bombers.

      Do the British escorting aircraft have to kill the enemy planes before the bombers can continue their run, and attempt to pass through the respective AA fire?

      Say the British player attacks with his fighters,no hits. The German interceptors score 2 hits,so does the British player lose 2 fighters and can then decide to retreat without further losses?
