we’re into a game of alpha2 global and I’m wondering if the US has to be at war to collect all of its NOs.
Good timing, I’m painting up my stuff right now.
My advice is to go acrylic and use a primer. Tamiya makes a primer which comes in a spray paint can and it’s good stuff. Wash your pieces first, let them dry really well, prime, paint and clear coat (again, use Tamiya). I suggest getting an airbrush; I use it for my plastic pieces and the 1/285 micro armour I use with A and A. Once you get good with the airbrush, you’ll never look back.
If you get really crazy you can buy some decal paper for the printer from the local hoppy shop (or whereever), search tactical markings online, cut and paste the images to a word file and print yourself some decals. Make sure you clear coat the decal sheet after printing and let it dry real well before you start cutting, dampening and applying your markings. Decals look really good on aircraft and as flags on naval vessels.

I just finished setting up for a Alpha+2 Global and it looks like waiting for Italy to take France is a non-starter. Germany is going to need the IPCs money to rebuild the Luftwaffe after what looks to be a certain blood bath in the Atlantic. I’m thinking of letting Italy soften up sothern France for a German kill as a naval base and IC on the Med is appealing.
Italy, in my view, is best used as flank protection, garrision (europe/africa), and shock troops (USSR). Germany will be getting the majority of any resources available.
Honestly, that was so unfair.
I just got finished running over Alpha+2 with my opponent and coming to a conclusion that our issues have been addressed; then this. Had me going… :-P
Hopefully we get a reprint as it stands. Though I do think we’re going to use a house rule about breaching a non-aggression pact between the USSR and Japan.
No one should pay anything (resititution, fine, reparations whatever) to the bank but there could be some other method of penalizing the USSR or Japan for breaking a non-aggression pact. Perhaps turning a strict neutral in the region into a friendly neutral or simply having them go over to the defender would work.
I apologize to Idi for not giving his post the due attention it deserved before commenting on it.
This seems to be an issue of reparations, which, generally, are paid by an aggressor (who lost) at the conclusion of the war. Since the breach of the peace between Japan and the USSR does not entail an end, but a beginning of a conflict, I would vote no on this proposal.
