Yep, a shout out to HBG is necessary as well.
A job well done. Looking forward to calling on them for new armies.

Merry Christmas all,
Woke up today and un-wrapped my new Global 1939 map from FMG. The quality is excellent as is that of the dice, control markers and production certificates. My wife explained that the customer service from FMG was outstanding.
Thank you FMG for the great product and for making my wife’s holiday shopping experience a pleasure.
Also, thank you to all who have posted on this forum regarding your experiences with FMG’s expansion sets/variants.
I consolidate and pull them back with AA away from the coast and do not divide them.
They become a real pain in the Axis for Japan.
Nope.
Just hoped Larry would wish it away to the cornfield like in that old twilight zone episode.
I’m happy it was a non-starter.
I’m happy he backed away from this one. The armour is fine the way it is. If anything, the mech should be improved.
Yes, yes. Make a non-aggression pact with Uncle Joe, invade the imperialist west and liberate the Japanese internees.
Oh, and I wouldn’t get too comfortable in China.
Stug III mit shurzen und saukopf. Looks like a deadly and tough ambush weapon.
Painted and custom pieces, in my opinion, help bring the game to life.
Additionally, I must admit that it does seem that my little type VII GHQ Uboats bring the ruckus to the battle board. :-D
Yeah, I read that thread and decided to implement it. It’s working so far. I like having a quick reaction force from Germany to intervene in Africa if need be. I don’t have very strong forces in the former french territories and I’m about to rectify that situation. My opponent is obsessed with regaining the UK right now (has already failed twice) and sees Africa as a sideshow. I see it as a potential door to the “soft underbelly” of the Axis and am a bit disgruntled with my lack of defences in the region.
Thanks for taking the time to comment.
I tried this and it’s working out for me. I’ve used it to get the Afrika corps into Egypt and beyond. It’s a nice to have the option to be able to send Germans to Africa independent of the Italians. I also agree with being able to support the defence of the Med.
This is has been my experience so far as well. It seems the Axis has a lot more latitiude to try different approaches to skinning the Allied cat. Being able to has some effect on the US NOs as opposed to them just getting a ton of IPCs when they go to war is a big plus as well as the new victory conditionds. Now they can’t just get the gravy and pile it on in one theatre. They have fight for it.
I used Italy to primarily secure Africa and I wanted a stronger German presence in the middle east. That’s why Italy did not take Iraq.
Germany took Southern France. Built a transport there and took an infantry and an armour to Egypt. Italy took Jordan and Germany’s armour moved through to Iraq, leaving the infantry in Egypt. The Iraq forces were activated by Germany.
The infantry painted the biegey colour and the little tan tank under the japanese bomber’s wing are Afrika corps. It’s hard to make out the detail because of what I had to do to shrink the image so I could post it.
The Germans took it as a pro-axis neutral.
Here are some pics of a current AA Global 1940 game at the end of turn 7. The game has become a slug fest and it appears to me that Alpha+2 has fixed OOB. I’ve been playing AA since the mid-eighties and this is my favourite incarnation yet (AA50 is close though).
Thanks to those who worked on the Alpha project and thanks to this forum for answering my in game questions.
Koba salutes you.
Quite honestly, I miss the 5 IPC armour @ 3 and 2. I’d like the option of buying that and augmenting with “heavy armour” at 3 and 3 or 4 and 3. When we used to play Zeno’s World at War, I used to love being able to deploy the SS Panzers and Panzergrenadiers. We were limited to 4 of one and 6 of the other from what I can remember. They added quite an interesting dynamic to the game.
Every country had some kind of elite forces (marines, guards etc) so there was some balance. Maybe it’s time to make up a house rule for this.
MWaaaHaha!
That’s what I thought.
Thanks fellas!
