Don’t attack Manchuria with Russian troops
if you are using all three allied powers
against Germany. Play perventive defence
against Japan while crushing Germany with the
help of your allies. Remember for every
strength in your opponents army he has a
weakness. You and only you can determine what
it is. If he groups his forces and likes to
give a big knock out blow then avoid it and
knock him back to Berlin.
I took this one guy out in two rounds.
Needless to say he made a FATAL mistake.
I was the Axis
Once you move back to Russia to defend it
from Japan and Germany is still alive then
you are back to square one. Arn’t you? I
know you believe in the Germany first plan
but look at what I am saying it can easily
happen.
Well,
On that note I have actually used the sub to
kill the British transport and used other
Jap stuff to go after the US fleet. Therefor
I find better use of the Sub than as a
suicide. It is a logical move though.
One question-
What would you do if Germany game after game
held out against the onslought of the allies
while at the same time Japan took Russia?
Greensleeves is 100% accurate on this one.
In fact this strat… is probably what makes
him a winner…
I agree with Field Marshall and Major Damage
on this one. Everyone seemed to point out the
effects on Germany with the Fleet comming
over to the Atlantic but also having it in
the pacific isn’t good for Japan. That fleet
has to be taken care of regardless of the
round. So your best chance for the Axis is
Japan’s first turn.
I was using the 16 inf as an example refered
to earlier by someone else. Most attacks
on Kar… don’t come in the first round…
Wait… Okay I see that you plan on using the
US all out against Germany. Therefor you have
a sound plan. Let me ask you this though…
Would you place a strong defense in Kar with
Russia if you planned on using the US in a
way other than going all out for Germany?
I was just wandering since many of you all have
suggested different rules which you thought the fairest
to be. I personally don’t agree with Russia restricted.
Also I usually give Germany jet power and Japan super
subs. 2nd edition rules usually seem to be the best
for " equal rights " in the game. What is your opinion?
In my games the British force is non-existant
Also I don’t recall the Russians cutting into
any of my tanks. Tanks are great for
firepower therfor you should avoid there hits
as much as possible. 16 inf and a few
fighters go right down the tubes while the
Germans only loose some Inf….
I think Yanny has a pretty could handle on
the situation.
I guess my plans are to complicated to write
an email about. I would have to write a
paper. So ask me a specific question and I
will give you an answer.
The US as a defensive power for UK and Russia
that means the US must HELP defend the UK
and Russia. Like I stated most axis players
don’t engage the US head on head they go
after the other two like you stated. Therefor
the US has to engage the axis by defending
UK and Russia. The US role could be totally
defensive or attacking depending on the
preference of the player. The US role depends
on the broad perspective in which they see
fit. For example if Germany went after Russia
immediately then the US would have to adopt
a different strat… than going after africa
and france (D-day). If they went after
Germany immediately (offensively) than
Russia might completely fall. Keep Russia
alive keep your options open. I hope that
clears things up.
I took a guy out in two rounds once and had
a game go 79 rounds. It was a slugout!
With Russia I usually attack the seaport
with 1 sub 1trans and 1 fighter. I
anticipate the loss of the royal navy. I
protect that attacting Russian fighter
because it needs to be saved for future
engagements. Also the Russian sub can
withdraw and protect the fleet of England
(sometimes). The fleet of the Russian Navy
can be used to take hits by itself in the
Northern port of Germany by itself or used
in a defensive role when the Brits rebuild
a navy. The number of targets increase for
the German player causing him to make more
mistakes. Even if a single Russian ship
survives it annoys the hell out of the German
player possibly causing him to take another
risk hitting it with another air unit.
Many advantages in this attack.
Man I hear a lot of people talk up the eight
inf for Russia in the Northern port but I
would never do that. Those 8 could get rocked
and Russia may never recover from such a blow
There are many different options with Germany
but I think Inf are your best bet. Not to
say just Inf but never avoid them altogether
in the first round. Germany’s future depends
on the speed in which they can move their
Inf.
