my group’s first game of global is 23 hours (and counting)!!!

it is similar to the canal rule, however only gibralter has to be owned for the straits of gib and only dennmark for access to the baltic sea.

just like it suggested in the book:

UK (both theaters), ANZAC, and France

US, USSR, China

we will prob change it next time

my group played the global game friday night. it truely is awesome!!!

it took a little to get going with the political situation and questions about neutrality but after a 2 1/2 hour round 1, we finally got our groove on. the game is still going on, we’re playing again thursday night, and we got through 6 turns i think.

i am playing as the axis and my 2 friends are the allies, we’ve all made some mistakes. mine was foolishly attacking pearl harbor instead of making him attack me at caroline (and scrambling fighters). Italy is doing pretty well but can’t get out of the med yet. germany just took over the northern USSR factory so i’m looking forward to that aspect on thursday.

in our last game (friday night), my transport left from a naval base, moved 2 spaces, picked up an infantry (from a territory w/o a naval base) and moved it’s last space and unloaded. my opponents claimed i couldn’t do this because i didn’t load the inf from the original territory, and it was like going to port twice. i believe i can make this move, that’s the whole point of naval bases.

i didn’t buy this for russia but it was bought against me:

russia was huge (prob making mid 50’s per turn and italy’s fleet was gone), he bought 2 transports, a cruiser and aircraft carrier to take out italy. italy was being bombed to death anyways (only building 2 inf after repairs).

needless to say it was game over…

seriously, nobody here is from western new york?

i will play it and use it to recruit new people to play in the “real” game. the simpler approach will help teach and we all liked revised when it came out, so if you have revised already, great. if not here’s a cheap version for now and start saving your pennies for the aa50 reprint (if that’s really happening)

IC for Japan in the east indies is ideal IMO. 4 units per turn, basically zero threat of it being taken and right to india or africa with units makes this a great place.

i just realized i’m plus 1 and was wondering how/who gave that to me? thank you to whomever it was….

actually i remembered what happened:

he had sent part of his fleet to australia to take out the UK fleet that i kept forgetting about. then with my move plus 1 rd of purchases i had him on the run, meanwhile the rest of his fleet were close to india by that point. it slowed his land based asia game enough to give russia a little more breathing room, which i think is important in this game.

a good germany/italy player should reconize a KG/IF plan and “turtle a bit” to hold out until japan reaches moscow. a strong pacific presence by the US is imperative to slowing them (japan) down.

japan has to threaten the US constantly to force them to spend in the pacific right away

in my last game as the allies, i bought units for europe and abandoned the pacific to try to “trick” the japanese player.  then on J2 he moved his navy further away and i moved mine back to WUS SZ and spent almost every penny there for 2 rounds, building quite a formidable fleet.

i think it put a major kink in japan’s overall strategy. he seemed a little flustered for the next couple turns and eventually overlooked uk’s clearing of persia, followed by the blitzing russian tanks to take his newly constructed IC in india lol

but i def think the US has to keep japan honest, otherwise their navy and production can be quite overwhelming

how did england build a factory in france and then recapture it in turn 2? this seems impossible….

hi all, i’m looking to join a group that plays on either friday or sat nights. i had a group but they only want to play on sundays (all day) which doesn’t usually work for me.
