To me, carriers wouldn’t be worth 14 if they had no attack value and couldn’t absorb two hits. For slightly more you could put in two destroyers that would absorb two hits combined and could be better offensively just over the price of the carrier, and for two IPCs more than each plane on it, (or one in the case of tac bombers) you could put a cruiser in the fleet that would fight just as well and be able to shoot shoreshots as well.

RE: China not being able to enter Koreaposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Because there’s a difference between “we have bigger issues on the homefront than dealing with the Japanese” and “we could gain money there, but the primary objective of this war is elsewhere”
So why, in your opinion, did not UK say “We have bigger issues on the homefront (Sealion threat) than dealing with Italians in Africa, Germans in Europe and Japanes in Asia” ?
Or why did not US say “We have bigger issues on the homefront (New Deal gone wrong) than dealing with Japanese in Pacific or Germans in Europe” ?Or just why could the Chines not say " Hey man, we could gain money if we occupied Korea, and with this extra money solve the issues we got on the homefront" ?
Just curiuss more than anything, kdfsjljklgjfg.
UK: Sealion would’ve required complete control of the English Channel by the Germans to really have any chance. That didn’t really happen at all, so Sealion wasn’t really a near future threat at all at any point in the war. As for africa and asia, the loss of their African colonies would’ve cut off a lot of the British oil supply and would’ve badly hurt the war effort, in addition to giving a major boost to the axis in seizing said oil. As for Asia, India and the Pacific islands were also a massive source of income, India being considered the UK’s most important colony, the loss of which would’ve been devastating. As for the Germans in Europe, well, if they’re busy defending a British attack, then they won’t exactly be planning an invasion of Britain when they’re trying to keep the rest of Western Europe under their control from the British.
US: Are you really asking me why I think the US went to war with Japan after they got attacked on their own soil? That should be kinda obvious. Germany declared war as a result of that, and it was agreed between the allies that a “Germany first” policy would go into effect.
China: It’s way easier to conduct a defensive war than an aggressive one, and if they overextended their forces against the far more powerful Japanese, it could’ve been a very quick war.

RE: Rochester NY area: looking for playersposted in Player Locator
Figured I’d check in and see how your progress is going. I live 3 and a half hours out, right on the Great Sacandaga lake in Gloversville. Rochester is a bit of a drive for me, but I’m a River Rats season ticket holder and have been wanting to take a road trip to see them play the Rochester Americans (AHL hockey) and it may be a possibility when one of those days comes around while I’m in the area.

RE: China not being able to enter Koreaposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Kevin, I think you are ruining the game with this kind of funny Cina-rules.
I think China should work under the same rules as the others. China did in fact combat-move into Korea in 27 june 1950, and Tibet too shortly after. Just because it didn’t happen in 1945 you tell me we cant let it happen in the game ? So how do you explain why the Japanese Navy moved into the Mediterean Sea in my last game, because that did not happen in WWII, or why Japan in many games occupie half of Africa, because that too never happened in the real war, and how can Germany occupie half of Africa in a lot of games, since in the real war Germany did not have any interests in Africa ?
etc etc
Because there’s a difference between “we have bigger issues on the homefront than dealing with the Japanese” and “we could gain money there, but the primary objective of this war is elsewhere”

RE: AAP40 FAQposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Still not clear on this ‘declaration of war’ & ‘unprovoked attack’, even after reading the redone format in the FAQ. Played it different ways a few times, and just want to grasp the way it is intended so we know what becomes the house rules…
The US cannot declare war on Japan unless they are attacked by Japan or an unprovoked attack by Japan on UK or ANZAC.
The phrase “unprovoked attack” no longer appears in the political rules. Attacks may not be done without a declaration of war. The US may not declare war on Japan before the Collect Income phase of its third turn unless Japan first declares war on it or makes an unprovoked declaration of war against UK/ANZAC.
So, if the UK/ANZAC attack Japan first, can Japan counter without bringing the US into the war?
Yes.
This seems to apply only if the UK declares war first, but considering that if the UK enters China, then Japan declares war on the UK, would an attack on UK troops be unprovoked since they declared war first?

RE: Spring AA50-41 Tourney Sign-up (No Tech)posted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
As of now, all that I can’t figure out is how to delete a piece from the board after it’s already been placed. Other than that, generally I’m available pretty much all day (except when certain specific hockey games are on), every day so posting turns shouldn’t be an issue, but should some freak thing come up, I’ll be sure to give notice. I’m excited for my debut game!

Hello kdfsjljklgjfg,
Welcome to the forum. Interesting user name, makes me wonder if this is a prank, alas lets assume you are for real. :-)
The tourney is played on the forum using an application called Abattlemap. In short you write out your moves on the forum, use the in “forum dice” for dice rolls and create a virtual map using Abattlemap. Check out the forum “play by forum” if this sounds interesting to you. :-)
There’s a long story behind this name that begins three years ago, but alas, that is a story for another time. I’ll look into it and get back with a response.

Just registered on this forum (although I’ve stumbled upon threads here before when searching up rules that are argued over) and I’m wondering where you guys do this tourney. If I got some info and could work with it, I’d likely be more than willing to join up, as the only people I generally get to play against are my dad and one of my friends.
