I don’t have to attack it with a land unit though, do I? Can’t I just send a fighter there as combat and have it count?

Come on, we’ve all had our ridiculous thoughts.

What are some over the top, insane moves that you’d like to try if failure wouldn’t basically mean a guaranteed loss?

I want so much to throw all of Germany’s cash into tech turn 1 to try for Paratroopers, then drop on UK turn 1, sending the entire air force.

      @orcageo:

Do the Dutch territories in the Pacific need to be controled also?

Considering it’s original British territories, I’d assume not.

I’ll play anything but generally prefer Germany/Italy if Axis or UK if Allies.

      Beautiful, thanks man.

However, there’s an issue, that being the map is too big to fit on my screen, and the program doesn’t come with scroll bars. Is there any solution to this?

I assume they’ve released an AAG40 Module for it by now? Can anybody direct me to it? (And possibly give directions on how to install it?)

    • RE: How do you space your european american transport fleet out?

Typically I build all pacific until at war (Reasoning being: Look at Russia, she can afford to spare the extra turn or so while America handles Japan).

Then I’ll generally always have one fleet of 3-4 transports sending men to morocco from the east coast, one fleet from morocco sending men to France (or Italy, if it’s open), and one going back to east coast.

    • New Global Strategies

What are some special strategies you guys have done in the Global game so far to set up moves?

Personally, I’m in love with a Russian strategy I’ve made. I’ve even named it!

      The Bryansk Elastic Defence

Every turn I try to put at least 3 mech infantry and a tank in Bryansk. From there, they can launch a counterattack against any point where Germany chooses to invade the Soviets upon their DOW, meaning easy destruction of weaker pockets of Germans.

What have you guys done specifically, and have you made snappy names as well?

    • RE: AAG40 FAQ

Assuming none of the Axis powers end up causing the US to declare war, and they declare by the end of their third turn, do they collect those 30 IPC’s that turn or do they have to wait until their 4th?

    • RE: Cruisers and tac bombers new abilities

I don’t like the idea of cruisers being the only sea unit to move 3, especially since destroyers were faster.

    • RE: Tank Purchases R.I.P.

It really depends on who you use. With Germany, there’s no doubt you’ll still need to buy tanks, because the 3 offensive roll will be invaluable. With the Soviets, you may want a couple around for the same reason if you need to counterattack, although in a small number.

Anyone else sans US though, indeed, you probably won’t see very many tank purchases anymore due to infantry/artillery being more cost efficient.

    • Early Release

Due to living in the middle of nowhere, it’s at least a 45 minute drive to the nearest place that carries A&A products (save one small hobby shop that had 1 copy each of Battle of the Bulge and Guadalcanal) and that place is primarily a Warhammer and MTG place.

So naturally, even though it’s where I got AA50 and Pacific 40, I wanted to call and be sure they’d have AAE40 on release day before wasting an almost 2 hour round trip drive.

The man on the other end said they may have it in and on sale saturday or even as early as tomorrow since they’re considered a “premiere store” (Which I would not doubt due to the whole “only place within 50 miles” aspect).

Are they doing that? Letting some stores sell it earlier for some reasons? Or would I be wasting a trip to head down tomorrow or saturday to check only to be told that it’s not yet release day?

How exactly does this work again? Does it subtract from all of the Allies or do they all pay Germany when they take a territory?

    • RE: Russia and Germany allies

      @MEGAEINSTEIN:

If Hitler did not decide to invade SU the last 60 years would have been very different.

Europe would probably has become a german territory, with perhaps Great Britain independent, Portugal, Spain and Swisss half independent and the east controlled by SU (Lituania, Letonia, Estonia,Finland, half of Poland).

The cold war would have been between USA and Germany with two other smaller players: China and SU.

And lets say things as they are: in 2010 the two nations that in terms of economy rule the world are USA and Germany.

      1. Stalin had plans to eventually attack Germany anyway. The only thing that would’ve differed about the attack would be which side and when. It certainly wouldn’t have taken 60 years to do it.

      2. The Cold War was largely about the spread of communism, so who’s to say that US and Germany wouldn’t have been united against the commies? That’s too hard to really predict.

    • RE: US IPC question

It comes with the kicker, though, that if they ignore Germany, then Germany will be likely able to overpower the Soviets, and if they ignore Japan, well, we’ve all played Pacific. The US needs to get involved there. When you consider that they need to split up their income, and the pure cost of a navy, it works out.
