buy 2 carriers, fully loaded with fighters, maybe 3, and at least as many subs as fighters.  now use the subs and fighters to attack, maybe throw in a few bombers, and then just replace the subs as they get killed off.  see how that works for ya.

what about if Italy falls to the allies, but is then liberated by the germans, the germans get to use the italian IC?  that would be nice

i just finished a three game series of 42 where i was axis.  all three games i built an IC in Bulg/Romania.  won 2 out of 3.  IC in romania is nice to get some men to caucusus quicker, and i built a few transports, with italian fleet for def, to make africa a little easier and to give his US bombers something to do.  i agree totally with the romania IC.

wow i may have to look into getting into it again.  do you know where i can find it?

the phrase i use to remember transport rules is “surface warships”.  dam subs.

jeez!  strat-o-matic baseball?!?!  i used to play that all the time!!  do they even still make it?

we usually dont worry too much about the Italian fleet.  if they leave the Med, they are dead.  when the americans start bringing their atlantic fleet to Morocco,  they secure either gibraltar or morrocco, giving the UK somewhere to land on the next turn to finish off the Italians.  the US usually hits the fleet first, rnd 2, maybe 3, with the UK finishing the job if needed.  it would be nice to play a game where the Italian fleet was able to slide through the Suez, but then i would really not know what to do with them. :-P

i have sent the russian fighter and bomber into the baltic on R1 before, which works well, but hurts if you lose either plane.  otherwise i will us UK airforce on UK1.

so who here has extra copies? if you do are you going to sell them?  i have 1 unopened and i’m not sure if i will sell or keep.

try axis in 42 with NOs on.  i just win a game last nite in 3rnds.  lost of money coming in for axis right away.  we always play NO on and tech, we even give each nation 1 reseach token to start with.  makes for fun games.

just buy any of them.  they are all fun, and are “broken” only to those people that have played them a lot.  when i first got AAE, i thought it was great.  i never play it now, but it was lots of fun.  and it will give you the fix you need till aa42 comes out.

i have no idea who has the advantage.  i lose with both equally :cry:
imo  russia and italy are similar in that they are a defensive power mostly.  japan is fun - lots to do.  usa is fun but it takes a round or two before they really get into it.  germany is a tough mix of offensive and defensive play.  UK is the most challenging to me.  where do you put an IC?  SAF, India, Aus?  hard to get a navy going with german fighters everywhere, and the japs can take most anything they want. and there have been games where the damn germans & italians almost invaded london.  have fun!!

yes get it if you can.  i have played all A&A, except Guadalcanal, and this is by far my favorite. i have never played a forum game(yet), and i only play with 1 other friend(maybe all i got?) but we play 1-2 times a week.  the game last a long time, but we set it up, play for as long as we can, then leave it and come back to it.  i like the fact there are 2 different scenarios, and I find it is not easy as either the axis or the allies to win. if you can find one, buy it.  its only money bud, and that’s what money is for, to spend.
