can planes scramble from an island with an airport against sub attacks if there is no destroyer in the zone being attacked?
ie
4jap ftrs in borneo, with an airbase; 1cv 1ftr 1tac 1bb in z43
anzac attacks z43 with 1ss z35, 1ss z36, 1ss z37, 1ss z45, 1ss z42
if anzac bring a ftr along to attack z43, could the jap ftrs could scramble then?

I’m not sure the UK, US or ANZAC should get the Dutch income by just landing troops there. Or at least it should cause a declaration of war against Japan.
It seems like awarding the IPCs to the “Allied” powers without much effort on their part significantly skews the outcome given the IPCs awarded. I could live with it if the rule was that they only get the income if they take the Dutch territories back after Japan has first taken the island(s).

jeez, now i am kinda disapointed i started this thread. so much negativity and hostility fellas. i have now set up the game and really looked at the pieces, nice detail on some of them. just wish i had more tac bmr for jap. cant wait to play it out and see how it goes. love the new bases and extra movement they give. very strategic.
is there somewhere i can email to get the actual battle board? maybe if i ask nicely, they can send me a few more jap tac bmrs too. :-D

can UK and ANZAC attack Japan on UK1/Anzac1 if they choose to? or do they have to wait to be attacked?
and if jap doesnt attack any allies does US HAVE to wait till US3 to attack Jap?

the separation between the two boards can be dealt with, AA50 came in 3 pieces, but some heavy duty gorilla tape can fix that. i do not recomend it though, just keep pieces away from the fault lines. :-D
just got aap40 saturday. i have been very excited to get and play it. i have read all the posts here and mostly tried to ignore the negativity(sometimes people just btch to btch), but after opening and inspecting, i got say i feel mostly disapointed with the game. mind you i havent played yet, but it feels cheap. the cardboard is not the nice laminated cardboard of aa50. the mech inf look smooshed. the dice are ugly but i can grow to like ugly if they roll well. the board itself is ok, but still not the nice cardboard of aa50. the boxes are a good idea but is a chinese box for 16inf really necessary? i miss the cardboard covers to each box. the battle box and casualty zone aren’t even connected, though i never use them, but still. i dont know, i guess i am glad i only paid $68 instead of the $90 some people are paying. i guess i was looking for more of an aa50 type product. hopefully it plays well. i now expect aae40 to be the same type of product, cuz really how could it be of better quality when sitting next this cheaper crap on the same table come next fall? guess i could always incorporate some of the aa50 game to this one but i dont think i should have to. i can understand the no paper money thing, but all in all…sadly disapointed. thanks for reading and putting up with my rant. i hope it plays better than it looks and feels. maybe it just another of those great ideas put together shoddily. oh well.
got mine from local game shop here in omaha. $90 but all board games were 30% off. $67 all said and done. recieved it for christmas. killed me waiting a week for it. will play tomorrow.
