What is the rule for US movment in Pacific before it’s at war with regard to
using friendly sea bases, i.e. like ANZAC sea bases
stopping in sea zones with friendly ships, again like ANZAC
Alpha 2, if I read correctly, says only that US can’t end movement next to Japanese territory
This may have been answered, but can US ships in Pacific use allied ports for movement before US is at war?
Sorry, one last correction. Fighter from Western France will not scramble as there is no airbase. So only three fghters from UK. Fighter in W. France will participate in land battle.
Sorry destolyer is cruiser, but OOL is same
Also OOL for 110 will be destroyer, then BB hit, then french fighter, then Brit BB destroted, then remaining fighters.
Hi TDS, glad to play.
Yes, will scramble all 4 fighters into sea zone 110, this is the French and 2 Brit Fighter from UK and Brit Fighter from Western France.
Being new to this, I assume I should await my Axis opponent to email me to start?
A KJF that failed!
Japan managed to keep the US at bay a few turns too long while Germany gained an insurmountable lead. Massive tank battles in the Middle East between German tank columns and US and British forces resulted in a German move into India. Germany had also managed a full on assault on the US East coast and took most of Canada, South and Central America. After boxing in Japan, the US tried to contain Germany’s expansion but failed. The game was called for the Axis after Germany and to a lesser extent Italy controlled all of Europe, Africa, and Asia. The only thing that may have changed the game (or prolonged it) would have been the ability of China to move its massive armies out of China – a rule I think should be changed, say if there are no Chinese occupied territories left.

This game is broken. A buddy of mine and I played this thing for 4 days, testing certain permutations. Germany can take Moscow EVERY time no matter what the Allies do. If you change the rules to make it so Germany has to take 2 capitols, the Allies will win every time. Even with the entire continent under axis control, the allies still make about the same amount of IPCs. By the time the USSR falls, the allies usually have an insurmountable lead in naval forces, insuring that they can pick and chose where to harass Germany on the main land, slowly wearing it down. I wonder if Avalon Hill play tested this thing enough.
Germany can either attack north towards Leningrad or South toward Stalingrad. Russia cannot defend both against the German tide. So it seems the only way that Russia could take an aggressive posture would be to place the majority of its troops oriented toward one sector, hope to stop the Germans there and then turn to the other in time to stop the Germans from wheeling around toward Moscow. Ironically, I think defending Leningrad and the northern sector is more crucial in the long run even though the Ukraine is more valuable. The northern sector has the convey NO, access to Scandinavia (the only plausible rout of allied reinforcements) and deprives the Germans use of the Baltic as a highway to reinforce troops easily close to the front. In this sense I think the USSR buying tanks is a waste. Planes and guns are the most effective.
The USSR is by far the weakest link among the major allies, even more so in Alpha 2. If Germany makes a major push into the USSR, all I have seen the Soviets do (even when I have played them) is to is pull back and then turtle in Moscow. There has got to be a better way to counter the German threat than retreat. Anybody have any success with some strategy with the USSR that just isn’t falling back and consolidating? Stalin would be disappointed if not.
Germany is stronger militarily, which means the USSR is relatvely weaker in this version. I would like to see more Soviet units on the boards, say in central Asia that can be moved up. Otherwise, Germany steam rolls the USSR back without any chance of the USSR pushing back.
