lol @ Gargantua
Ha, as Italy I attacked 1 brit dd w/2ftr and a dd. I lost everything in epic dicing. Battle was critical to allow me to land in Algeria to provide landing spot for German air force to nuke entire British fleet. As result, UK nukes Italian fleet and a fully loaded trn.
Needless to say it was a major set back.

Don’t forget, the title of your game thread said it will not end well!!
Oysteilo is classy to talk his opponent out of giving up, and then losing… consistent with his sterling reputation
Yeah, victory was in his hands! but he gave it back. Actually I was just probably being emotional after rolling Japan and seeing only 3 red dice pop up among the 20 dice. Oysteilo was sober and judicious in telling me I was wrong

After consultation with my ally, we concede. One of the worst games of recent memory. The total dicing of Italy set the table for a long downward slide.
LOL!

Oysteilo was being sober and judicious to talk me out of quitting after the Hawaii debacle

I’ve been gone for awhile and want to pick up a game or two. I guess BM3 and bid for sides.
Fair warning, I haven’t touched the game in over a year, so I am pretty rusty right now.
Wheat is back! The earth is healing!

RE: FAQ 1.0 for Bulgeposted in Axis & Allies: Battle of the Bulge
Question:
If you blitz a tank out of an enemy zone of control into an open space, which is on a road, then can the tank continue moving along the road for its second movement until it hits a town or another enemy zone of control?
Thanks
The point of this question relates to a game where the germans were able to blitz tanks out of the allied zone of control and then on the second blitz move, spread out and seize like 4 towns for the win.
Also, the win is automatic right, in that the allies do not get a chance to respond the moment the Germans achieve the victory condition?

Game Broken?posted in Axis & Allies North Africa
Ok, so I’ve only played a few times, but it seems that “Rommel’s Last Push” is a non-starter to the extent that if the Germans attack and take Mersa Brega round 1, the UK just counter attacks all in with everything they got, including a potential bomber in the final Suez convoy zone they can deploy, wiping the Germans out.
No more push to Cairo. Not even close. The rest of the game is just “hold on” for minor Axis victory at best.
Anyone else get this result?

RE: Game Broken?posted in Axis & Allies North Africa
Understood. I just assumed the “theme” of the game on Rommel’s Last Push would be that the set up would allow the Axis to reliable threaten taking Cairo in some meaningful way, i.e. the game begins with a race where the Axis really can push the UK back and the UK has to scramble to hold. If it fails, then the initiative switches to Allies to oust the Axis in time.
But the set up indicates that if the Axis either (1) moves forward R1 and gets obliterated by UK counter-attack UK1 or (2) takes 1 or 2 turns trying to build up, then Cairo slips away pretty fast. Assuming that Axis could only reliably threaten Cairo on or before R7, then it would have to take Mersa Brega the latest on R3. But waiting that long means it misses out on capturing supplies and the UK truck, etc. and the UK just starts dumping units into Cairo.
I guess if the idea is that Cairo is in play only if the UK either chickens on the R1 counter attack or whiffs on the dice, then ok. But seems to preclude what I think would be the assumed drama of the early part of the game, i.e. Rommel chasing UK back.
Maybe the Axis get a bid, then?

@karl7 I remembered you posting that Battle scenario of yours on the WhatsApp Chat a while ago, that was rather ingenious of you- even better than your Sneaky Karl, of which I dubbed your said move the Deceptive Karl!!!
Yeah, it was crazy. I don’t think Juan Spain saw it, and frankly neither did I until it just occurred to me.
Hats off the Gargantua too. He was Japan, and when I told him of my plan he went into overdrive on the battlecalc to crunch out the numbers. We did even better than the calc estimated.
