John’s the boss; he picks which nations and schemes I’m to paint, and then I just go to work in whatever order I want. We’ll be completing the Japanese first, and the second nation is TBD. I’m almost done with the navy, although decalling takes a lot longer than I expected :P

Cant wait too see how you did the Japanese navy! I really enjoyed painting my japanese fleet probably the funnest cause you get soo many naval units on the board too start! did john brown send you the HBG Japanese expansion and supplement sets?  their yamato mould and Nagato is awesome you’ll love painting the details!

looking great spitfire.  Going to be great too follow this post too see all your units for the countries and see what schemes you paint.  Are you starting with all the planes first? I like the holy guacamole shceme…looks like you mixed that color nicely!  John brown certainly hired a great customizer !

Young grasshopper how did you come up with the artwork and images for the cards? They look so fantastic I wish I could see the cards better off the link you gave.  Did you create the art yourself? Or customize photos? Or have a illustrator do them??

I hear ya man, HBG has these amazing sets coming out but its sooooo hard to be patient and wait for these pieces.  I have been waiting on the UK set now for months.  I am very excited about the America set they are producing, and cant wait too paint the p47 “jug” and the b24 liberator!  “Tall Paul” has a shapeways thread in this customization forum section.  If you check it out he has already purchased the b29 and has the correct scale in his thread.  I will be making some minor and major factory purchases here soon seeing how nicely yours turned out, as well as that b29.  Gotta paint that Enola Gay!

I too have added magnets too my carrier decks and too the planes. � I hated how the planes would always fall off the decks. � I also made magnet fire damage markers for the carriers and capitol ships because I didn’t like tipping the ships and carriers over. � That is so cool that you made the magnets so only axis planes land on axis ships and vis versa! � I would love to play a game on your board! haha � below are a few pics of my carriers. � I noticed you were able to put a film over the magnet so it does not stand out all. What did you use over the magnet piece??

This is ABSOLUTELY awesome man! well done you have completely eliminated the most annoying and potentially catastrophic feature of playing A&A.  Having the chips and units falling off.  I’ve had games with my buddy were we would play with a few drinks in us and as the hours and turns go on… sure enough somebody gets up bumps the table pieces are everywhere and we just pissed away 6 hrs of gaming!  Or you leave to take a break and sure enough the wife’s house cat jumps on the board and plays cat and mouse with your entire Waffen SS!  Once again what a great idea and amazing board! Hats off!

I’m thinking of getting some extras of the axis minors and doing sets for Croatia and Slovakia… Long term they will be fully painted but in the short term I need to pick some national colors for the pieces.

Essentially all the current hbg colors are claimed more or less as hbg market them.

Any ideas? I don’t have any game to actually play with them on but the hobby aspect of painting them is the draw for me.

were you looking for some historical accuracy with your painting for the Slovaks and kroats? or just a solid color? below are a few paint camos I found for some of the Slovak and kroat airforce

I have had my eye on this HBG set aswell! I wanted to repaint my current OOB stuka’s but I will wait for these more detailed pieces to come out.

had some spare time to paint over the weekend, and decided to work on some more German Luftwaffe.  I wanted the “clipped wing” look of the bf109 e, f, k variants so I squared off the wingtips of the OOB 109’s.

very interesting camo scheme, are these painted off references??  they look great!

yes please a zoom in shot! the detail windows on the tower really make the piece stand out!  Have you thought of running two 3m tape strips and taping off a runway line then spray it white? or are the pieces just too small.
