neat idea tall paul, that hole to be drilled behind the bridge must be tricky too do I cant imagine. Flags are fun to add, especially for the Japanese! I try and make them as small as possible but then again we are men and are fingers can only be so small lol. Im not sure how you plan on doing your flags material wise, but I have found if you use the left over decal paper it works quiet well. I water it first let it dry paint the national insignia and then you can bend the paper and it folds and rounds nicely and stays! if you were looking for a bit of the flag in the wind effect

RE: Should Cow Make a Strategy Guide for 1914?posted in Axis & Allies 1914
what do you do with America? I know in my game when I was the allies I would buy transports and build planes every turn and ship them over too the uk. By the end of it any airforce Germany could build I would send in my American planes to wipe them out….or at least weaken it then have france or uk finish them off. In the game it is a huge advantage having that air superiority and the artillery rolling stacks at 4. This is were I found it hard with Germany I could never get air superiority and get those artilleries to 4

just wanted to share a few pics of some painted HBG Japanese expansion unit set….which are highly detailed and quality pieces. Fun too paint if anyone else has started or finished them! Slowly working my way through the kit…just finished the naval pieces I was most excited about the Yamato, Nagato, and Unryu carrier

I’m running out of words here…but again simply awesome and the lettering and numbers on the fuselage is just captivating. Those fw 190’s look as deadly as they flew. Being a new fan of the “customization” thread this warmachine project is exciting to follow, and inspiring for game pieces. Cant wait too see the afrika corps air units tall paul, and Russian winter schemes!! thanks for sharing

These look great Tall Paul….thanks for the close up… Painted by Hoffman? These pieces are very tiny I know the pictures are zoomed in so its hard too tell. Just handling them I was discouraged from painting. The decals must have been a nightmare to do! but well worth it with these results.

very cool and unique sculpt with the naval bases! are you painting them “generic” across the board? or will each naval base have a country insignia or color scheme change?

I have been monitoring this thread as well. Ossel has blown my mind with his victory city renditions. I too hope we hear from him soon.

wow this looks so cool. What’s the scale size? any chance you can take a picture with a fighter on the base too see the size comparison? would these bases be too big on a A&A Europe or pacific game board?

Very nice! I love the biplanes, although they must have been a pain to paint, with all those undersides of the wings and what not.
thanks spitefire! yes I know you feel my pain lol, ever paint some 1914? Its too bad the game is so generic with every country having the same moulds, however I was surprised to find a lot of paint schemes for each country with SPAD fighters!

Very nice, even though i am a non painted units fan.
I like the biplanes especially, and your eindecker/ three decker solution.
One question: why did you put red stars on the russian planes ?Hey matt thanks for the likes. I painted the red star on the Russian planes more for game play and country indenification. The friend I play with is not adapt in the historical markings of each countries airforce’s in 1914 particularly Russia. But everyone knows the Russian “red star” So I used a 1920 Russian SPAD scheme from the polish front!
