      From the Revised FAQ:

      "Q. The Nonaggression Treaty allows the USSR to place four units in the territory Japan attacks
      first. What if the Japanese player attacks two or more red territories on the same turn?

      A. In that case, the Soviet player chooses which of the territories being attacked gets the four infantry."

      Couldn’t find and accordion folders that were big enough. What I came up with are poster boxes. Picked one up at the UPS store. I can fit all the charts inside, it keeps them I good condition, and it stores well.

      I’m currently building my Global War set, and I’m painting a lot of pieces to make pieces of a certain color that are not available. (i.e. Orange submarines). I’ve found good matches for most of the colors, but I’m having trouble with two sets in particular:
      -Classic Japanese/HBG Yellow Gold
      -Revised UK/HBG Celery Green

      Has anyone found paints that are decent matches for these color pieces? Can be spray, or brush on paint. Don’t have to be perfect matches, just close enough that you can tell what nation the pieces belong to.

      @Caesar-Seriona I think you need to re-read the rule, it does not say you can only send to one nation. What the rule states is that, when you do Lend Lease to a nation, you can send that nation one unit or up to half that nations income. But you can do that same process multiple times.

      Language from the book here:

      7.8 Lend-Lease: During the Production Phase nations may lend money (IPPs) or military
      equipment to other Major and Minor Powers.
      Requirements: A nation can lend-lease to a nation under the following conditions:
      (a) The receiving nation is at war with a Major Power or,
      (b) A special circumstance (e.g. Spanish Civil War) allows a
      nation to lend-lease.
      A nation may not lend-lease to itself or to Aligned minors (since
      they are technically also part of that nation). Britain cannot lendlease to the FEC or ANZAC.
      Declaration: A player must announce his intention to lend-lease at
      the start of the turn. You may lend either;
      (a) Up to half the receiving nation’s current income in IPPs (not
      counting bonus income), rounding fractions up. Or,
      (b) One military unit. Such a unit must be produced at a factory in the Home Nation
      specifically for the purpose of lending. You may not lend-lease units already on the
      board.

      It does not specify that you can only Lend Lease to a single nation. So that might help clear it up a bit. The USA can Lend Lease to China, USSR, UK, and Free France all in the same turn if it wants to, for example.

      I guess I still don’t follow the logic on allowing Free France a free reign to take out Vichy though. I’m not saying the money from Vichy makes or breaks Germany winning, but it just doesn’t make any sense to allow the Allies to just take all the territory essentially for free while Germany can’t do anything about it. But we may have to just agree to disagree on that one. :grinning:

      Did Chile declare war on Germany?

      I started by checking my own Global 1940 map analysis document…

      https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/topic/26161/global-1940-2nd-edition-map-analysis/33?page=2&lang=en-GB

      …and the entry for Chile says “Chile, a country with close trading ties with Germany, initially chose to remain neutral (in contrast with many South American countries which, although technically neutral, tilted slightly towards the Allied side early in the war). Chile only started to distance itself from the Axis powers in 1943, when it broke diplomatic relations with them.”

      According to this page…

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allies_of_World_War_II

      the “Declaration by United Nations”, originally signed by 26 nations in January 1942, was signed by Chile in early 1945. Chile was also one of the original 51 signatories of the 1945 Charter of the United Nations, and Chile also apparently declared war on Japan in April 1945. This page…

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Declarations_of_war_during_World_War_II

      …similarly notes the same declaration of war against Japan and similarly mentions none against Germany.

      All in all, it sounds as if Chile was one of the countries (there were several, notably in Latin America) which spent much of WWII playing their cards close to their vest, and which only committeed themselves to the Allied bandwagon once it was clear that a) the war was nearly over and b) the Allies were going to win. Based on the other entries in my map analysis document, it looks as if, basically, the Latin American countries whose real inclination was to be pro-Axis spent the war pretending they were neutral; the Latin American countries whose real inclination was to be neutral spent the war pretending they were pro-Allied; and the Latin American / Caribbean countries whose inclination was to be pro-Allied jumped onto the Allied bandwagon right after Pearl Harbor. The reason for all of these positions (nuanced or overt) isn’t hard to guess: they were all in the western hemisphere, i.e. in the backyard of the United States, so they had to be careful about the public stance they took, even in those countries with right-wing governements and/or significantly large numbers of residents of German ancestry.

      You want the 1936 map! It has the terrain printed on it, and as I understand it, you can use it for a 1939 set up. Really the maps have slight differences. I think the Global War is moving in the direction of the 1936 map. I am trying to justify buying it now. Real question is 36" x 72" (3 ft by 6 ft) or 48" X 72" (4 ft by 8 ft) 1936 map!!! From what I gather if you have the room and are using 3D sculpts for bases, you may want the larger map.  :roll:

      Ok yes. But the mummy unit is indestructible and operates like a berserker unit, randomly strangling any and all infantry based on a random die roll. Each turn it moves one space

      Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, but it’s been a crazy year.

      I know that there is evidence of Dutch transports, and I’m not refuting that. I’m simply stating that the addition of a transport makes the new Dutch units too powerful on the game board, and grossly unbalances the game in favor of the Allies, which is a bad thing.

      My solution, after play testing, is to give the Axis some units to balance it out, and I’ve edited my original post to reflect this.

      @Caesar-Seriona said in G40 Benelux (Belgium/Netherlands/Luxembourg) Setup:

      @JustLuthor:

      @Herr:

      I like the general idea though of course it would have to be carefully balanced. As for the units, I’m not much in favor of the tank in Scotland, for realism’s sake. The Dutch had one small tank at home. The Belgians did have a significant number of tanks but evacuating them to the UK was evidently impossible. Having two Benelux infantry units there is already more than enough compared to the French who were far more numerous.
      Dutch New Guinea might have an infantry unit, though. Dutch resistance continued throughout the war there, and the Japanese never completely conquered that territory.

      I can’t find it now, but in my research, I came across a Dutch tank unit raised in England after the fall of the Netherlands. For balance’s sake, maybe it should be 1 Artillery to represent Luxembourg’s limited contribution to the allied war effort. And maybe it should be only one infantry in England for both balance, and scale.

      I couldn’t find any Dutch 1940 Order of Battle for Dutch New Guinea. I only found references to DNG being reinforced after Japan declared war. This is the best historical argument for a Dutch transport in the Pacific, though I still feel it should be up to ANZAC to ferry Dutch units around for balance’s sake, which is empirically more important than historical accuracy.

      Another reason I don’t stress accuracy, is that it’s a slippery slope that eventually leads to completely revamping the game; not just the setup, but the map, and game mechanics as well. I would certainly like to do this for my own amusement, but it’s hard enough to get a game of Global going. I don’t want to compound that problem by creating an even more complicated game with 40-something countries, resources, trade agreements, diplomatic agreements, governments in exile, technology, a dozen new units, prison camps, espionage, sabotage, food rationing on the home front, and the Bretton Woods Conference.

      Though I would totally play that game.

      From my understanding of Luxembourg war effort against the Wehrmacht was the fact their nation did not have a military and only their capital city had some kind of defense and it was the cities police force that fought and surrendered (if I remember correctly) after a day of fighting. So as far as I know, no military campaign of any sort came from Luxembourg.

      The Luxembourg government in exile did field a small artillery troop attached to the 1st Belgian Field Artillery Battery (specifically Troop C). They fought in Northern France, and Belgium.

      Hey Luthor,

      I’m with a fairly big group who plays AA in the Bay Area. Send your email, and I’ll add it to the group email chain. We get about a game a month in I’d say.  Mostly 1942 second and G40 2nd.

      We’ve got a G40 game set for Nov 12 at my place in Oakland.  Unfortunately its already full up (unless you want to play France LOL).  If you’re interested in swinging by for a beer and watching a round or two let me know.
