    • RE: Russia

      @BJCard:

      Plenty of talk about Austria turn 1, but what about Russia turn 1?  Likely the only thing that Austria did is either reinforce its original territories or take Romania…Â

      Russia I think can get the majority of its armies into two rather large forces in Poland and the Ukraine.  This causes a large problem for Germany and Austria early.  I have thought about attacking Mesopotamia turn 1… what do you guys think?

      Looks good to me and worked well. The large force in Poland can give the CP fits.

    • RE: Larry Harris: Strategic Movements Mechanic

      I think this will help the CP alot. Just think the CP can move thirty units from the Russian Front to the French front in one move. That just does not seem like a good idea to me. I would like to see some more restrictions placed on the move. Like a max of 5 to 10 units per turn.

      @ghr2:

      I like Russia taking out Mesopotamia as well.  UK can clean up any survivors and reinforce the defense.

      Looking ahead, what if the Russians took Mesopotamia and the RR prevented any futher UK reinforcements from reaching the OE.Â

      As far as I’m aware, the current RR rules allow UK troops to pass through Russian territories. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think it would be an issue for the UK.

      Yes you are correct. In the FAQ it is written:
      • All Russian units outside of original Russian territories will be immediately removed from the board, and Russia will immediately relinquish control of any non-original territories it may hold, including those of formerly aligned minor neutral powers.  If units belonging to other Allied powers are in these territories, control will be established using the rules for moving all units on one side out of a contested territory (see “Land Units”, page 15), otherwise these territories will be uncontrolled until another power moves into them and will not mobilize units when entered.

      I was erred into thinking because the RR makes Russia neutral.

      @VZSTAL:

      @WILD:

      The Austrians need ground units though to keep their supply line going so IDK. I think I have a chance to take parts of Africa w/Turks, but unless I can figure out a way to stop the the Brits from reinforcing it they’ll just retake what I get, and will liberate Egypt as soon as I move out. The Turks in Africa is what I wanted as the game started though, so I’m very interested to see how it works out.

      BTW my Germans haven’t fair to well in Africa (like I said that G1 attack on S Africa didn’t go to well), and my last inf is making its last stand (but did just survive a 2 inf French attack, and killed a French unit LOL).

      I think the Ottomans are the only CP that can have any lasting effect in Africa.  Through some creative movements and lucky dice rolls the Germans can be a thorn in the Allies’ side but they will fall sooner or later.  Keep us posted on how this turned out for you.

      Agreed.

    • RE: Tanks - worth purchasing?

      @Flashman:

      As long as you have infantry to absorb hits on counter attacks, tanks will repay this by deflecting hits on your next turn.

      One possible strategy is to build a stack of French tanks, attack with them, then reinforce the area next turn with British infantry.

      But see tanks primarily as a means of breaking through a defender who cannot afford to hit back. They’re a war finishing weapon once you have the upper hand economically.

      +1. Good post!!

    • RE: Who Wins

      Played one game with the outcome in favor of the CP. I ran out of pieces so the game had to stop at turn 14. Solution bought more pieces and more chips. Waiting for arrival.
