The best one as far as balance and ease of play that I have experience with was the 20th anniversary ed.
Left with my brother last in McKinney and I need to go hunt it down. Story goes: could be in the attic at

What part of the metroplex are you in?
I’m close to airport. So GenX game store is close, but I don’t mind traveling.
Bought the WW1 and have not played.
