    • RE: Italy and Paratroopers?

      Per LH

Infantry (up to 2) can be flown, to join an attack, if that location is within a 3 territory/sea zone range. They don’t need bombers or any other aircraft representation. They must however be on a territory with an airbase.

    • RE: FMG GERMAN pieces

I guess Germany goes after Italy, but after that what?

I’d be happy with the extras set (airbases, naval bases, Major/Minor IC’s).  The individual country pieces I can wait on, but these pieces I want soon so I can get rid of the cardboard.

    • RE: Pacific Changes, and how they could affect global balance, DOW, and other things

I find it amusing reading about you fine folks wanting to change the global setup before you’ve had a chance to actually play it.

Larry is trying to balance AAP40, not AAE40.  He realized that the J1 attack was the best option for Japan, not 1 of 3 options for Japan.  He is trying to do this without changing the balance of Global.

True. If it is in Pacific errata, I would think it would have been put in the Global book… since there was such a time delay between the two games.

these possible changes just came about in the last couple weeks.  way too late to put in Global book.  if you go to LH’s website, he’s having a discussion in regards to balancing out AAP40.

    • RE: Global Gaming Table

I know you’ve heard this johnnymarr, but I wanted to say it too… great job!

This is awesome and I am now envisioning my own table when I can afford to buy the material.

      thank you

One suggestion is similar to what IL said and that is to paint the bottom. Make it smooth and easy to clean and maybe even waterproof so that spills won’t soak into the wood. Also, when you set up a game you can put some stand-offs under the game board. These will raise it up, and with the plexiglass on top, the boards should be completely protected from the occasional disaster.

I speak from personal experience. A comment was made during a game that caused a fountain of Root Beer to spray from a friends mouth evenly across the dining room. Fortunatley he managed to turn away from the game and I didn’t have to unfriend him. Since then I have wrapped my older boards in clear contact paper.

i’m currently putting a rubber grip on the bottom of the table to keep the gameboards in place.  I also have a piece of plexiglass to protect the gameboards and to get rid of the creases.  I do not allow beverages or food on or near the table

    • RE: Preview of Axis & Allies Europe/Global 1940

When a major industrial complex is captured, immediately downgrade it to a minor industrial complex. Adjust any damage to be no more than 6.

      love it! great rule

I have to say, some parts of that map looks really squished and detract from the overall appearance. They could have done a better job of drawing Africa by shrinking some of Russia’s north territories and possibly shifting things up a bit. Africa’s look really irks me and China looks somewhat badly drawn. I am excited for this game, don’t get me wrong, but the overall presentation kind sucks IMHO.

i think the board looks great.  its not an accurate representation of the world, its a game board

    • RE: Best All Time NFL Rusher

Emmitt Smith or Barry Sanders? Who would you take?

at least emmitt smith ran forward most of the time.  i’ve never seen a RB put his team in a 2 and long as many times as Barry Sanders.  Sanders was exciting to watch, but hurt his team as much as he helped it

      interesting

While the Soviet Union is at war, place 2 infantry units in Novosibirsk during every Deploy Units phase as long as other units are deployed during that phase.

However, it is important to point out that Russia cannot attack a Euro Axis until its turn 4. This is not to say that it can’t be at war with the Euro Axis before that moment. That depends on whether or not they are attacked by them.
