    • Does a canal require a transport and another transport question?

      Can I move guys across a canal without a transport?  Also, when loading cargo, say a tank and an infantry from England.  Does getting on the boat count as one move?  Can I then more to Eastern Europe, unload and that’s it or can I unload and move to another space?

      If the loading on counts as one move, then how can infantry ever get off the boat except on the next turn?  Thanks.

    • Economy before victory?

      Is it a good strategy to try and get small pieces to build up an economy or to try and take out victory cities first?

    • Do you ever skip the combat phase?

      Do you ever go all the phases except the combat phase (maybe skipping the development)?  Perhaps just to save up enough money to build a big army.  I thought about it, but I’m afraid the other guy will build so quick that I can’t recover with new units.  Thanks.

    • Do Anti-Aircraft move and can you have more than one in a territory?

      From my understanding the rules say that only one aa gun can fire in a territory.  So I would never have two aa guns in one territory.  Do they move after the initial placement one, on the next turn, just like a regular unit?

    • Axis and Allies Notation

      Is there a standard official Axis and Allies notation, like Chess notation?  Thank you.

    • RE: How soon do you buy another industrial complex?

      @dezrtfish:

      I don’t ever build an IC with UK, it’s up to your playing style, but I don’t think it’s necessary.  Transports do the job much better.

      How do you get them over before it’s too late?

    • Can cargo load and offload more than once?

      Say I’m in Japan.  I load on a transport, go one or two, offload.  Can that same cargo get on another transport and keep moving?  If so can it do that in the combat phase to get to a battle?  Thanks.

    • How soon do you buy another industrial complex?

      Take United Kingdom.  How long should it be before I buy another IC?  Or should I buy another IC.  For example, I have a hard time getting stuff to Calcutta and ended up losing because of it.  I was thinking if I had an IC there I could have done better.  However, I’m aways buying weapons so I don’t get killed. Do you ever skip the combat phase?  Thanks for advice.

    • Rolling Dice and the Providence of God

      I was thinking about Axis and Allies and using dice to play the game.  I then thought about a real war with bullets flying, people dying, and all the stories about almost being hit and so on.  I know some of you believe in luck or chance or “the odds,” but I really thought the dice illustrated something diffierent.  I call it the Providence Factor.  As one who does not believe in chance, but rather a controlled universe (read God’s sovereignty), each dice roll represents those bullets that hit or miss their targets.  There’s something there that appears random and at the same time very precise, ordered.  Reminds me of Proverbs 16:33, “The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord.”

      How many stories have our grandparents told us of strange stories that appear to be to wild to be true, yet they lived?  Are you here because of the randomness of flying bullets that didn’t kill your grandfather?

    • How does Axis and Allies compare to Memoir '44?

      I know this is an A&A board, so I expect a slight slant :), but I was wondering if and why A&A is superior to Memoir '44.  Is this more suitable for the miniatures board, perhaps?  Do the games compare at all? I keep hearing on other sites how much everyone loves Memoir '44, but use A&A miniature pieces.  Just hoping for comments.  Thanks.

    • RE: How long is the miniatures game?

      @Der:

      A standard game of 100 points on a 2x2 map is usually done in an hour, sometimes less depending on how things go.

      Scenarios, larger builds and/or maps, or using a lot of infantry can cause the game to go longer.

      Can three people play or is it multiples of two?

    • Help with Bridging needed

      New player and had a question.  I read the book, but I don’t understand bridging.  If I have a transport in between England and Western Europe, for example, what does bridging mean here?  I can’t just walk a bunch of guys over can I?  What if I had two infantry and two tanks.  How would they use the transport here?

      Thank you.

      Does it last as long as the A&A Revised game?  Thanks.
