      My name is Will Henson, I am one of the designers on the island warfare expansion pack.
      My new website is up with an update on island warfare. This is going to be pretty exciting
      with the other top 5 (yes 5) expansion sets also on the drawing board, I’m excited about what
      this will bring to Global 1939. I listen to you guys on the forum for ideas and desiresso keep posting!

      Will, welcome to the forum. I checked out your website and, and you have got me pumped for these new units. Because of all the things you guys have planned, it won’t be just a game day, we will be playing one game for a week because of all the strategies that will be added to the game. This is so exciting. Cheers to you for making my day. :-D

      @Tall:

      Hey John,

      ––I just noticed your new avatar. Pretty Cool. I can almost hear the sirens Screaming! BTW, when my Dad was soldiering in WW2 Germany he “liberated” a complete Luftwaffe fur-lined leather flying suit from the factory his unit overan. Just one of the many “souveniers” he returned home with.
      ----Looks like this avatar might dislose your AGGRESSIVE side. I hope so. It will certinly be usefull when playing our A&A games,…especially when you play an Axis power.
      ----I guess I’ll see you Thursday week for our next gaming session. You’re Japan this time. BONZAI!  :-D

      “Tall Paul”
      p.s. - I spoke to Doug and ordered his 1939-Global map & units along with several 1940-Global items I wanted/needed. He said they should be ready by this week-end. Later

      I’m glad you like it. I got bored with my other avatar, and wanted a more aggressive avatar. I bet your dad had a ton of things he brought back. It would be neat to see some of those items. I hope I do better on the next game. I hope Doug will have our supplement packs completed this weekend. Take care Paul! :-D

    • RE: The Liberation of China

      @knp7765:

      In a way, China has it a little better than the other nations since there is no capital territory for the Axis to capture. With all the other nations, once you grab their capital and there isn’t any chance it could be liberated, they are pretty much out of the game. They can still control any of their forces still on the board of course, but they can’t buy any new stuff.
      With China, even if their last territory is captured by the Axis, they still keep any money that they have. Then when any allied power liberates any Chinese territory, China can purchase and place men there on their next turn, even the cheap 1 IPC territories.
      I have heard that some guys when playing China and they see that Japan is about to overwhelm them in a round or two simply don’t buy anything for China and save their money. Then when an ally gets a Chinese territory back, China can plop a large stack of men there and really cause havoc for the Japanese.

      I appreciate the advice. That makes a lot of sense. Thank you!

    • RE: The Liberation of China

      Thank you both. I figured it you could liberate it, just like other powers, but my friend teaching me thought that since they were not an industrial power, they would not be allowed to come back, but that didn’t make since to me, game wise. He told me to ask you all to be sure, and I’m glad I did.

      Thank you both!

    • The Liberation of China

      Hi, I’m new to Global 1940 and the question I have is, can China be liberated if all of its forces are defeated? In other words can another ally liberate enough territories so that they can regain infantry again?

      Thanks for any replies!

      @ancient:

      Is this project still in the works?  I’m very excited about it
      .

      It is. Working on 3 setups and many new features. Look for it in the fall of 2014

      How big will the map be? Will it be the same size as the current revised 1939 map?

      Thanks,

      I’m going to buy him one and he’ll need some brushes. The good news is he has some of the paint. and I found out he knows how to mix his own paint to make different colors, so that will help. :-)

    • RE: Question on Flying Tiger?

      My brother is an artist, and he thinks he can do this. It also helps that I will be paying his internet bill each month, if he does a good job.

      I thought it would be the perfect test to start off with this piece. Nothing like baptism by fire, LOL.

      If he can accomplish this, it will be exciting. The only thing he worries about is the decaling process.

      I’m like you, I like the other planes as well.

      I just bought a Guadalcanal game to get more hellcat planes because HBG is out of them. It would great if he could get more of them in. I bought 30 of the P 40’s, so I got plenty of those, but the hellcats are the ones that I’m light on.

      If my brother does well on the painting and decaling then, I will buy another Global set and he is going to paint all those as well as my HBG units.

      I have to cross my fingers, LOL. Wish me luck!

      Thanks for the reply!

    • Question on Flying Tiger?

      Did the Flying Tigers use anything other than a P 40?

      What nation’s symbol was on the plane?

      Was it Chinese Nationalist or the American Star or both?

      I think have convinced my brother to paint my minis.

      Thanks for any replies!

    • RE: Just discovered Global '39 a few days ago

      You’ll love the map. I just got it the other day, and I’m in awe of it. The detail they went into making it is just awesome. I’m currently waiting for HBG to get more supplement packs in. They have been out of them for awhile. I got a bunch of 12 sided dice. You will need some. It looks like you went to great lengths in studying which countries have which ships. That is awesome. That is one thing about variant games, you can add or take away what you want in your game, and now that HBG will be making expansion packs, just adds that many more options to the game, and that is awesome, in itself.

      Thanks for the history lesson!

      @John:

      Are you still going to get more combat dice? Just curious. :-)

      I was just looking at this topic to ask the same question. I’ve got German and French dice, and would love to fill out my collection.

      I don’t have any of those dice, but they look cool from the pictures. I hope they can get more because I want to buy all the sets.

      Yes, Doug is a good guy. I talked to him on the phone a couple of times. He hurt his Achilles tendon. I hope he recovers from it real soon.  Some how my stuff got sent to Maryland, and he reshipped everything. Now I just purchased my biggest order from him last week and bought the Global 1939 variant map. Now, I’m just waiting for the supplement set to restock which he says they may have in a couple of weeks. I should be getting my map tomorrow. I’m so excited about it. I can’t wait to play it. Doug has a lot of cool products. I’ve been pleased with all my stuff, I’ve bought from him. I can’t wait to meet him in person at the convention. :-D

      I talked to Tall Paul on the phone yesterday, and are going to meet each other for the first time Friday. We are going to discuss about when we can meet to play some axis and allies and possibly ride to the convention in May. I can’t wait to meet you guys. I’ve bought a lot of stuff from HBG this month and looking forward to possibly gaming with all of you at the convention. :-D
