      @knp7765:

      Oooh! I would love to see the P-40. However, then you would have to increase the range of colors to include Italian Brown.

      I went looking for a Heavy Romanian tank, then Hungarian, then Finnish coming up short on those searches (might have helped if I spent more than 2 mins looking) I found the Italian tank. I personally think that if it’s an Axis Minor set it should have Axis Minor equipment. Not just another German set in more colors.

      Okay Yavid, don’t screw this up for me. I WANT those new German units. I don’t care what they call the set.

      Besides, you will probably get Hungarian, Romanian and Finnish stuff in the Axis Minors expansion set they are planning. Pretty sure that one was in the top 5.

      LOL! :-D

    • RE: HBG's Global War 1939 FAQ

      I just started trying to learn Global 1939 for the first time on the revised map, and to be completely honest I am confused.

      On the 6.1 set up chart, it has Germany starting at 52 IPC’s, but I don’t know what this 24 production is.

      Is this the maximum amount of units that can be produced by Germany in a turn?

      It says in political situation that Minor Axis powers have a fixed income that they begin collecting on the turn they are activated by Germany.

      Example: Romania collects a fixed income of 6 production per turn. Germany only receives 4 production per turn for owning Romania.

      Shouldn’t this say 6 IPC’s, instead of production?

      It also says in the political situation that Minor Axis powers are limited to producing a maximum of 3 units per turn in their original territories. All production generated from territories captured by Minor Axis forces go to Germany.

      Again, there is that word again, “production.”

      Again, does this mean IPC’s or what does it mean?

      I assuming that Romania can’t conquer territories for themselves, because essentially, their conquering territories for Germany.

      Is this correct?

      If so, they only get 6 IPC’s per turn.

      How can they produce 3 units, their maximum?

      The only way I see that being possible, is that they don’t spend for a turn or two and save their IPC’s.

      Is this correct?

      I’m assuming they can’t build industrial complexes in their own country because they are fighting for Germany, and this is why Germany can build IC in Romania because what would be the point for Romania to build one?

      They can’t expand past Romania.

      I’m just confused.

      Can someone help me here?

      I would appreciate it!

      @knp7765:

      Yeah John Brown, I was a little surprised when I read the list of units. Most of the ground units and air units I think were shared by Germany with some of the minor Axis countries, with the possible exception of the Tiger I.
      The ships on the other hand, well, I just couldn’t imagine the Kriegsmarine letting go of a Bismarck or Graf Zeppelin. Then again, who knows? If the war had went differently and the German Navy was able to expand a lot, perhaps there could have been a time where as a reward for being part of the Axis, Hitler might have given the gift of a Bismarck to Hungary, or a Graf Zeppelin to Romania, or a Graf Spee to Finland. At the very least, maybe they would have gotten the specs to build their own.
      Of course, now that I think of it, not sure what good a navy would be to Hungary. Perhaps, had they won, Hitler would have granted Hungary a corridor through Yugoslavia to the ocean so they could build their very own naval base.
      At any rate, this set has me very excited. We talked about it a little last fall, but now it looks like more of a possibility.
      I do have one question: the list included a Tiger I (early war). I hate to show my ignorance here, but will these be different from the Tiger I’s already available to us from the Expansion set? If so, how are they different?

      Yeah, I was wondering about the difference in the tanks because they both say Tiger I, but like you said this one says early war. I would think there would be a difference. I would hope so at least.

      Wow, this set is awesome. I’m surprised that it is called an axis minor set with the Bismarck being in it. I would think it would be called a German Expansion Set. Regardless what it is called. It is awesome! :-D

      @Tall:

      John,

      ––The “Black Cats” were the nicknames for the Catilina PBY patrol bombers that were painted black and went out at night attacking the Japanese with torpedos and/or depth charges. Some had four(4) .50 cal. mgs mounted in their noses. It was quite a different role for these VERY SLOW, recon aircraft but theier crews were effective at being flying pirates. The next time we meet I’ll loan you a book or two about the “Black Cats” if you like.

      “Tall Paul”

      Thanks Paul, I was just guessing! I knew it had to do something with the new set. I just took a shot in the dark with my guess, but it is good to know who they were and what they did. Thanks again for the info. :-)

      There was a delay on brown. Should be in end of the month.

      Also are the basic Japanese sets close to being ready?

      BASIC Sets? No. Not developed yet. The EXPANSION SETS should be right after the Russians. Moulds are done.

      So for the Japanese Expansion sets, are we talking early April for those?

      I assuming that is what he meant, but he didn’t specify it to me.

      Guys,

      ––HBG’s ‘Island Warfare’ set was at the top of my list of favorite sets to produce. Obviously everyone else felt the same making it the ‘first out’ as far as expansion sets. HOORAH!
      ––Axis & Allies is is now ‘evolving’ in a most satisfactory way with HBG’s introduction of Global Warfare-1939 and now these Awesome Expansion Sets!

      "Tall Paul"Â

      Yeah this was a top 5 pick for me as well.

      lol sounds like I have some convincing to do with the wife.

      LOL, I just buy her pair of $50.00 shoes and that keeps her happy for a month. :-D

      lol I just bought her a computer so I stand a chance.

      Yeah, you should be able to have a HBG shopping spree for that much.

      When we first started dating, I told my wife from the very beginning, as along as I pay the bills, don’t ask questions.

      I also told her if you want something, all you have to do is ask. Most of the time I will probably let her have what she wants, unless we are in the middle of life changing purchases. If that happens, I told her I wouldn’t spend money either. It has worked out perfectly ever since.

      That was 12 years ago, LOL. :-D

    • Island Warfare Sample

      I just got a sample from the new Global Island Warfare Expansion and it is awesome.

      My question to you guys at HBG is, is this going to be the final color and look of these pieces or will they be in the OOB colors of olive drab and dark green for the US and the pumpkin orange for the Japanese pieces?

      I hope you can get them in the OOB colors because I would like them to match everything else we have for those countries. If this is going to be the new colors, it won’t be the end of the world, but it will take some getting used to.

      Thank you guys for the free samples. The sculpt is amazing. Keep up the good work. :-)

    • RE: Global Oil Rules

      @Ben_D:

      There’s a few things that HBG has available that aren’t explained well, if at all.  All of the resource tokens, certain types of fortifications (like the Fort Drum one), P.O.W. camps and a few other things seem to fall into that category.  There is a section on the site that has rules laid out for some of the stuff, but it seems to be outdated at this point.  Maybe an update is in order?

      I’ve asked them to update the rules to the markers and fortifications many times, but I’ve never got a response. I assuming they just don’t have time since they are producing so much as of a late. That is just my theory. I hope they can update it at some point.

    • Global Oil Rules

      I’m having trouble understanding the oil reserves.

      Can someone explain them to me?

      Is the reserves your excess oil?

      In other words, is this how many oil tokens you have in reserve?

      Can someone explain to me about refineries and about it’s rules, because I don’t see nothing about it in the rules?

      Thanks,

      Variable will the brown Russian sets be in stock next week or is there a delay?

      There was a delay on brown. Should be in end of the month.

      I also need the maroon color as well. I need 10 of the brown and 3 of the maroon.

      Same issue occurred with the maroon. The factory had to rerun both colors on their error.

      Also are the basic Japanese sets close to being ready?

      BASIC Sets? No. Not developed yet. The EXPANSION SETS should be right after the Russians. Moulds are done.

      I ordered 19 sets in all 4 colors. I cannot wait for these to come out. I think I’m more excited for the British and French sets. They look awesome.

      I’m dying to see that Brit set made as well! Needed for so long…

      Keep up the good work! :-D

      Thanks Variable, it gives give at least a couple of weeks to save at least!

    • RE: Question on Transport Planes

      @Tall:

      Guys,

      ––While Gargantua is completely correct, as he usually is, I just wanted to make a point:

      ----**In any game that I play in,….a Bomber will NEVER be allowed to “air transport” anything!**  :-o
      Not as long as we have highly detailed Air Transports available from HBG. Even if no HBG Russian, American, Japanese or German Air Transports were available,….I would write “Air Transport” on some tape, stick it on some aircraft turning them instantly and forever into Air Transports, and then proceed with the game.
      ----I don’t hold it against Gar, or anyone for that matter,  :-D …but I can’t fathom anyone EVER wanting or preferring to use Bombers for dual-service units when we have actual AirTransports available that are also beautifully detailed to boot!  IMHO, There should be distinct, different units that can “air transport”.
      ----Well, my ‘rant’ is over for the moment, anyway, haha.  :-D It’s just that I strongly feel that the “Air Transport” should be a separate and distinctly different unit and I don’t believe enough “conversation” has been focosed on the topic.

      Respectfuly,
      “Tall Paul”

      You noticed that the title did say transport plane?

      I think he used bomber because some people may not have the HBG transport planes.

      I do agree though that troops should be carried in transport planes, instead of bombers, and if someone doesn’t have transport planes, then they can do what you suggested.

      Your right though, if someone can, they need to incorporate transport planes in their games. :-)

    • RE: HBG - Axis & Allies Parts/Accessories and Custom Piece Sets Store!

      @knp7765:

      The yellow pieces used to be considered Veteran but I believe HBG changed that with the new sets.
      Now yellow is for the Manchukuo army.
      Rose is for Thai units.
      Red is for Veteran units.

      Really though, you can use whichever color you want to represent whichever faction you want. HBG’s designations are simply suggestions. In your home, with your game and your pieces, you decide.

      Thanks, I figured you could do what you wanted, but just wanted to make sure. I went ahead and ordered them all in all 4 colors for both sets.

      I ordered 10 sets in the OOB pumpkin orange for both sets and 3 sets of each color in both sets. I will have no shortage of troops on the Asian continent, LOL. :-D

      Thanks again!

    • RE: HBG - Axis & Allies Parts/Accessories and Custom Piece Sets Store!

      I’ve got two questions for you guys at HBG.

      1. Variable, are you guys going to update all the new fortifications, markers that you have made in the past year? On the HBG Custom Rule site, the last update was 1/18/2013. It would be nice to update this because it has been over a year.

      Thanks for all you do! I know you guys are really busy now, but I just wanted to know if this is going to be updated this year?

      1. I noticed in my Global 1939 supplement pack that the Japanese Veterans are in the yellow color (Manchurian Yellow), but your Japanese supplemental and basic sets, the veteran color is red (Thai Red).

      Are both colors considered veteran? Is the rose color veteran as well?

      I’m confused!

      I would appreciate if you could get me straight on this.

      Thanks,

      John
